I graduated from KP in the 80s and really enjoyed it. The classes were small, the other students were nice (well, most of them, anyway), and the teachers were wonderful. I went there for HS only, so I have no experience with the lower school.

Now, I know that's a long time ago, and things change (back then Pingry was in Elizabeth??), but I know that several of my classmates have daughters enrolled there now, so that's an indication that its good reputation still stands.

I have heard that it's very tough to get into these days.

Definitely check it out and see if it "fits." I enjoyed my all girls high school experience so much that I went to an all women's college (not many other KPers did that, I'll admit.)

If it's the all girls experience you're looking for, also check out Oak Knoll in Summit and Lacordaire in Montclair. They're private Catholic schools, like Delbarton (for boys). You don't have to be Catholic to go there.

Good luck!

My mother-in-law is a kindergarten through twelfth grade graduate of Kent Place, and is even in her eighties, devoted to it.

my daughter tested for and was accepted to kindergarten there 13 years ago. though we decided on another school, i had an amazing experience with the way they tested her. they must have read her application thoroughly because when she had trouble answering a math question they changed it to be about horses (her true love). i though that was very sensitive and creative.
