Went to Lilac in Millburn last night. BYO. Excellent. One of the best NJ restaurants I have been to in years. Appetizers were terrific, as were the main courses, plus the dessert. Strongly recommend it. |

(I'll be moving this to the new Dining topic tomorrow) What appetizers did you have? |

Two of us had the beet special. I had the seared wasabi/sesame tuna (which was almost large enough for a main course) and another had the waldorf salad with crab meat. Main courses were hangar steak with poached pear, spinach and potato thingummy, seared tuna (which my wife said was among the best she's had in a long time) and cod. Desserts were profiteroles (which were merely adequate) while the apple cake was astonishingly good. |

do you recall if there was a duck entree? I have a craving for duck and have already secured a baysitter Sat night. We went to Lilac years ago and it was very nice. |

I believe there was duck as both appetizer (maybe) and dinner (definitely). Not dessert though. |

Algebra, we ate at Verjus on Saturday (a splurge for us - my Mom treated!) and they had a lovely sounding Peking Duck on the menu, I didn't order it but someone at a neighboring table did and it looked delish. Don't know if their menu changes week to week, but it might be something to keep in mind . . . |

We were also at Lilac Saturday night. Food was excellent, service gracious. The Leone-Gresnigt family does own it. |

We tried Lilac for the first time a few months ago and it was fabulous. I can't remember what I ordered, but I do remember really liking it (I'm sure the food was memorable, but I have a terrible memory for these things). I do remember that I had poached pears for dessert -- excellent. The atmosphere is nice too. Cozy without being cramped. |
