Carrie:

If you visit MOL regularly, as is suggested by the number of posts you have made in the time you have been registered, I would hope it is because the on-line community here has come to mean something positive to you. This legal struggle is about more than the preservation of a local business. It is also about the way in which that business has helped (and continues to help) enrich the quality of life in SO/M.

No one is pressuring you to make a contribution to the MOL legal defense fund or to a non-profit concerned with preserving free speech on the internet; but, please don't feel the need to question the motives of others who would choose voluntarily to make such a contribution.

You are right Joan, and as I mentioned, perhaps I jumped ahead of myself, and was a bit paranoid. I respect anyone who wants to make a positive statement and contribution. I do not respect people who do it soley for the purpose of personal gain. I do not know these people personally, and although I have posted several times( 229 to be exact) I do not know for a fact whether these people are on the level. You can understand that.
I do enjoy this web site, very much, and although there has never been anything similiar to it that I have found before, ( for the exception of the Millburn Web site)it does not mean I will not have some doubts as well. I would love nothing more to be utterly trusting, but in a world of scams, frauds, and the like, I have my suspicions. I hope it all works out for the best.

I'm definitely on the level, but I'm not sure about my brother. He's kind of shady.

It's good to be careful, Carrie, and I know you're new here, so please don't feel like you're being forced to give money. Just enjoy the site and be nice to Soda.

Thanks,Dave.
Soda seems very impulsive, and I should have refrained from my comments, I'm almost thinking she is a teenager, who has a rebellious streak, am I wrong? Then again, I guess I do, too. I better count to "ten" and do a little "lurking" first.lol

Carrie,

Some of the greatest flamers on this board are chronologically well into adulthood and many are approaching middle-age.

I would love to be approaching middle age, as opposed to backing away from it.

What exactly is middle age? 40 to 60? I think if I asked my children, they would say I'm in the dark ages.

Carrie: Welcome back, kiddo! Here's some background info to put to rest some of your concerns about me:

(A)I'm mid-fiftyish, and a father of two, with a rebellious streak a mile wide, but
(2)You might be surprised how measured and thoughtful I can be when given the opportunity.

-s.

BTW: My active participation on MOL extends back to my having been responsible for coming up with this message board's "motto", which, lucky for all of us, is not "Put up or shut up", but rather "I came. I saw. I posted."

Nice slogan! Good job !
Im 45, two kids, one on the way ( not planned)
We stay in Manhatten all week, and most weekends now. My son is in private school, and my daughter is home tutored. We have a nanny and a housekeeper, and this gives me help, time to prepare for child three, and time to chat with you all, it helps. My husband works on Wall Street and we all come from TN. My sister lives in Millburn, where we stayed until we found a place in the city. I am still adjusting to City life, sometimes it gets to me, ( as you can tell) I try to remain calm, but with hormones jumping everywhere I am glad to beable to have this outlet with MOL

Our attorney asked the plaintiffs' attorney to come to her senses and drop MOL by 5pm today. We presented federal law and NJ jurisdiction case law to support our claim. Didn't happen, so we're moving forward as planned.

Dropped in at Bunnys this evening and learned there will be a special guest at our April 2 event. I encourage people to visit Here's 2 the Arts to secure a ticket before we're at capacity.

There is a similar situation going on in Yonkers, although it hasn't gotten to the lawsuit state yet. As covered in today's NYTs:

Yonkers government just handed this web site owner the gift of credibility and thousands of new readers.

Can somebody use either of these modest efforts to create MOL Support Buttons?

Soda-
I am very dissappointed that you revealed such humanoid details about yourself. I've come to think of you as, well, I don't know what, but you are one of my faves (even the outbursts) and I have this superhuman picture in my mind.

I have no problem disagreeing with Dave: if you are a regular lurker/poster (especially if you enjoy this site), I think you should contribute to the defense fund or become a supporter.

Greenetree: Thank you for that validation (I think). However, regarding the picture in your mind, I believe that you may have me confused with my ex-employer and (unwilling but nonetheless contractually-committed) vacation host, the Oracle of MOL:

As you can see in this captioned candid, The Oracle's on board as well.

BTW: He said that you're invited to bunk up at his place on Coquina Way anytime...

Foff:

My husband and I bought tickets from Art. I don't know if it is required though. Perhaps Art, Dave or Jamie can answer that question.

Art has been doing a great job for us, but I am not clear on details about tickets. I don't want to hazard an answer without conferring with our master of ceremonies. I'll drop by at Here's 2 the Arts tomorrow to chat with him.
