Hm, I might have thought you were more of a Samuel Taylor Coleridge fan, personally. At length did cross an Albatross, Thorough the fog it came ; As if it had been a Christian soul, We hailed it in God's name. Anyway, I'm mildly interested in seeing it. I've not been blown away by Episodes I and II ... I think they were lacking the heart of the original movies. Just got the DVDs of those three, by the way. I'm a little annoyed by a fairly major change at the end of "Jedi." |

I was a huge fan of the original three. Casual fan of the modern versions. What are the new versions missing? Interesting, fun characters! What would the original Star Wars trilogy have been without Han Solo? An overwrought space opera with a lot of spiritual hooey and some kind of Freudian theme. There's nobody like that in the more recent installments to balance out the oh-so-heavy mysticism. And Jar-Jar Binks doesn't count. Effects are great, but give me story and characters! |

My son runs a Jedi Academy website, so yes, you could say we are mildly psyched at our house. Even our 4-year-old has a light saber, though for reasons unknown to the rest of us her refers to it as "my sword of power." |

Bill, I completely agree, the first three were magnificent!!! I was horribly dissapointed in Episode I. I am hoping that the last installment will live up to my expectations!! |

Deborah, Is he accepting applications to the Academy? Sword of power, huh? Hm ... maybe he really wants to be Lion-o from Thundercats. Oh, no, wait that was the Sword of Omens. In case you haven't guessed I'm trying to show my geek-redentials as well.

Bill - major change at the end of Jedi? Sounds a bit disconcerting - Please share! And, yes, we are geeks too. Disappointed in Episodes I and II, but still hold hope that Anakin took some acting lessons for this one.. and that there's a good enough storyline and "ending" to hold up to Episodes IV-VI. |

WARNING: Movie Spoiler contained in this post SoOrLady ... remember the last image at the end where the three dead Jedi ghosts appear and are smiling and stuff? They took out the original guy who played Anakin Skywalker (Sebastian Shaw I think) and digitally put in the image of Hayden Christensen from the new movies. The big problem I had with this is up until that moment any Jedi who died and became a ghost Jedi stayed looking like they were the same age when they died. This bothers me more for film continuity reasons than geek reasons. Why didn't Obi-Wan's ghost look like Ewan McGregor? |

I hated Star Wars. I was 6 or 7 when I saw the first one. My sisters and I were staying the weekend with cousins at the beach. I was so homesick I was miserable the whole movie, that night I fell asleep with grape Bubble Yum in my mouth and it got stuck in my hair. My sisters cut chunks of my hair out and I looked like a super dork (I already looked like a boy with my bowl haircut). Then, after the hideous hair cut I was walking on an old wooden plankway and got a huge splinter in my foot. I never saw another Star Wars movie again. This was my no good very bad day. |

algebra, Wow. I'd advise you that it's time to put the past behind you and try the movie again, but knowing the way things work in this world, I'd be afraid. No doubt something else awful and embarassing would happen to you as a result of seeing the movie. It would be like an episode of that cartoon that's on Sunday nights. What's it called again? Whatever you do, stay away from the Star Wars Holiday special. I can give no better advice in this world. |

I saw the first one (or fourth, or whatever) about 5 - 10 times when I was a teenager. Mainly, I saw it for free - one of the movie theater ushers was a friend of mine in school and had a teeny little crush on either me or my sister. I'm not sure which. Both of us bore a striking resemblance to Carrie Fisher in those days (we look a lot alike except that I am tall "ish" and my sister is very, very short). This resemblance was strong enough that I was once approached by somebody who wanted my autograph. No kidding. However it was a decided curse - exactly the wrong kinds of guys (i.e., geeks :-) tended to fall for me and expected me to be just like Princess Leia. It didn't help that I was a bit of a geek myself. :-) Now of course I'm middle-aged and jowly and would kill to look like that again ... ah well. I lost interest after the second one. Return of the Jedi was stupid, and "Episode 1" was horrifyingly bad. I never saw "episode 2." |

I personally find watching George Lucas's vision unfold is like watching an excruciatingly slow train wreck. I can't imagine how much worse this one will be than the last, but then again after Episode 1 I couldn't imagine he could do any worse but then lo and behold there it was, Episode 2. Episode 3 holds special promise to be particularly awful because he's going to have to shoehorn the end of Episode 2 to the beginning of the original (and still best) Episode 4. I will absolutely go see this movie in a theater. I just can't not look.
