My shoe problem is that I really want the shoes (read cute little shoes with heels) that I will NEVER wear. I'm a clunky heel and boot kind of gal. As my mother told me I have my grandma's feet...I'm not exactly sure what that means, but I'm pretty sure it relates to the fact that I'm extremely uncomfortable in any shoes other than old grandma shoes with no heel... I walk past THREE shoe stores on my walk from the subway to my office, and there are always cute little shoes in the window. Life's not fair... |

LAS: I know you said no presents and no cats but the cat on my lap insisted on going birthday party shopping yesterday and got you a surprise birthday gift. Actually, he tells me the gift is really for your cats but he is sure they will share. Happy Birthday party. See you Friday night. We'll get there just as soon as we can. |

I'll meet you all for drinks when you're done. Lil, have you tried wide shoes? They make all the difference. Joan....I've already hired a sitter, but I could have her stop by with the cats if there are presents involved... (that was a joke)

Okay, no one's biting. I just got a FAB pair of shoes that seem to make me feel, well, FAB. Three inch heels atop a 1/2 inch platform. I, pretending to be suave, modeled them for a couple of coworkers and tripped. And fell into a stack of redwelds. I took photos (before the trip when I still had traces of self-confidence) and will post tonight. I simply cannot believe how much I love these shoes! |

Standing 5'8.5" tall (up from a previous height of 5'5.5"), Lynn is wearing the latest Kenneth Coles from the Century 21 Menagerie ('cause it's a zoo in there).
Whether you're out on the town or home alone drunk, these shoes have that certain je ne sais quoi that's stylish yet comfortable for even the most bunioned of feet.
These babies were a steal! If they were anything other than shoes I'd call them bad boys.

It's fine. I'm fine. People are really nice and making me cry. I never celebrated my birthday before except at the Arc where I volunteered for all those years, and since the folks there were so cognitively disabled they were only in it for the cake and the staff for the free lunch (and my late husband for the write-off). I put my birthday out there so I wouldn't feel alone today, because you can feel alone on your birthday any year, and I didn't think I should risk it this year. Enticing Fact About las No. 24 The real reason I wanted to throw a bit party is to thank people, old friends, new friends, virtual friends, for being so amazingly supportive and not allowing me to have a moment to myself to dwell or to lag. Enticing Fact About las No. 25 I will be seated at the party tomorrow night. Seems I wore those fab heels a bit longer than than I should have my first time and the balls of my feet are really, really sore. |

Wish you could stop by, Lucy! Recall if you will: ________________________________________________________________________________ ____ Enticing Insight No. 12: When I say I don't find something the least bit stressful, that is code for I need a vodka based drink to wash down these anti-anxiety pills. ________________________________________________________________________________ ____ That said, I just stopped at Whole Foods to make sure they were on schedule with the cake. Buttermilk cake with buttercream frosting and a surface so jam-packed with flowers there'd be no room for writing. The flowers that were costing so much extra they called to make sure I approved the cost (of course - 'tis only money!). They showed me the cake. The huge cake trimmed in flowers that says, 'Happy Birthday Lynn' across most of the surface. That can't be fully flowered because the baker is booked through the weekend. She said, I left you a message telling you it would cost more. I said, I stopped by and left a message saying that's fine. It's only flowers. Sugar flowers no less and Ess says people don't like sugar flowers because they taste like crap and didn't approve of my covering the cake with them. So I guess it's all working out for the best. Sort of. And it's only a cake. That I designed. And we're still going to have cake, so technically we're not way off course. No. I don't find losing control over the details the least bit stressful... And that's why we have designated drivers! |
