Boy has this thread deteriorated! Why do you all play into Straw and allow him to make every thread about him?

I'm going to keep posting this photo until people stop referring to it as "legit."

Ml1: I think the photo you posted, with Kerry sitting several rows behind, is the "real" one. There's also a "fake" one of Kerry standing with Jane Fonda, which has been soundly debunked.

Experts are still investigating whether this picture, of a reputed table-top dancing incident, is "real" or "fake":

Nohero,
I know it's a "real" photo, but the idea that it shows a connection between Kerry and Fonda is completely bogus. To the extent that some MOLers continue to call it proof of Kerry and "Hanoi Jane" being bosom buds, I'd like to keep posting it so anyone who hasn't actually seen it can know what the "real" photo is that these guys keep referencing.

One interesting fact in the snopes article on the real phonto is that it was two years BEFORE Jane Fonda went to Hanoi and that Kerry did not support her actions in making that trip.

Nevertheless, my Democratic friends that picture completely hurts your candidate in every way.

Jane Fonda infuriated millions of Americans and any type of image that links a Prez. candidate with her is bad for that candidate.

Laugh off the pic if you want but keep in mind it hurts Kerry & helps Bush..period..

CALL THIS A FREE LESSON ON "HOW TO NOT GET ELECTED PRESIDENT", BROUGHT TO YOU BY YOUR LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD STRAW..

I've said it once and I'll say it again, if JK is the best you got....you ain't taking back the White House..

If this is the best the repubs can do- to think that making issue out of this photo is constructive to their effort (or destructive to Kerry), then the Dems have a better shot than I thought.
Therre are so many other things to get the Dems off-point on.

This is just one more area where Kerry has to offer an expanded explanation for his various positions on a number of issues. He's particularly weak on foreign policy -- which the republicans would like to be the major issue of the campaign. If the economy improves enough by election time, foreign policy may well be the focus.

What was Kerry's position on Haiti? Whatever it was, he'd probably vote to do it 'differently" again this time. He was against the first Gulf War, but for the 2nd one, but it against the 2nd one now...but...if....and....uh.... Bring it on.

...see the thing is, quite frankly, you're not approaching Kerry's position in good faith. Because you oppose him, you are making an active effort to put it in the harshest light possible. This election isn't going to be decided by people who've already made up their mind, it's going to be decided by the 25-33% in the middle. They are not going to immediately try to force this into a black-and-white choice.

yes Tom they are. Most are concerned with their own well being. If they have jobs, and income and they feel safe walking out their front door most will see little reason for change.

Kerry cries for change but in the end there isn't much he can change nor is there much people want changed.

Dean just found this out the hard way.

and on top of it all, We will have already handed Iraq back to the Iraqis.

I WIN CAUSE I'M A REPUBLICAN..

still waiting for your response on why the Rumsfeld-Saddam photo is helpful to you.

unless it's "boring"...

Dean lost because the rank and file Dems really want to win, and Dean appears unhinged sometimes. The middle-of-the-road voters aren't going to subject Kerry's statements to an ideological litmus test, by definition: if they have an ideological litmus test they aren't middle-of-the-road. You can try and convince yourself that everybody to the right of Dennis Kucinich thinks the way you and cjc do, I guess. But you lose because it isn't true.

I'm not trying to convince myself of anything. Kerry's job is convincing you he stands for something and will maintain that stance for more than one week.
