Anime is an interesting study. This one surprised me though.... I guess it gets a hoot in some places?? Hi All, Just wanted to say Hi. My husband james and i will be moving to Maplewood very shortly from Brooklyn (I Know, I know ANOTHER Brooklyn couple!). We are very excited and a little scared but we cannot wait to meet all of our neighbors and get settled in. This is our first home ever and this whole experience is a little daunting for us. We are looking forward to attending a Newcomers Club meeting when we get settled in. Everyone on the Messageboards have already been so wondeful, we just know that Maplewood was a good choice for us. We wanted to wish you all a Happy and Healthy New Year! Christina & James |

Christina & James- Where are you coming from in Brooklyn? What neighborhood are you moving to? My husband and I moved in July from Bay Ridge and we love it here. The commute is great and the people we have met are terrific too. Good luck with the move and Happy New Year too!

Hi, I currently live in NYC with my husband and daughter...we are in the process of looking for a house in the 'burbs. At the moment we're focusing on the M/SO, Millburn areas and I'm finding these message boards informative. I'm still learning how to use the search function effectively, so I apologize in advance if I end up asking questions that have been asked before! |

Welcome, Fishface! You are focusing on an excellent area. Post your questions in the "Please help" section. The search function isn't always satisfying, so don't be afraid to ask a question that is likely to have been asked already. We love to talk anyway. The "Education" section can be scary. We badmouth our schools, but on the whole, it's not because they're bad. It's because we care deeply, and that's a good thing about this community.

Hello Everyone, My name is Christopher Fragomeni. My wife and I are moving from Montville to the Maplewood area with our two children in the late Spring. I am a Landscape Designer, who is branching out into my own company this year after almost 20 years of having partners. My unique approach to designing has won me awards in several design categories while associated with my former employer. Since I am moving into the Maplewood area, I will be able to showcase my creativity. As far as interests go, both my wife and I are very much into raising our children, but we are always up for meeting new parents in the area, and making time to meet new people, over dinner or drinks. If anyone would like to contact me, I can be emailed at cmfrag77@aol.com. I have uploaded a few pictures of some of my work. Hope you enjoy them!

Phil: Please let me know if the Newcomer's Club would like to participate in the Memorial Day Parade this year. I've been told in past years that my inquiry was made too late in the season for the question to be raised with the membership. Thus the early invite. Thanks, Joan |

Greetings and whatnot, everyone. I never realized Maplewood/South Orange had such an active and busy online forum. But I'm glad I was able to find out about it. Anyway, my name is Michael Turner. I lived in Maplewood all my life from age 2 to age 18, before heading out to college. And even then my family stayed in Maplewood until I was around 20. We lived on Garthwaite Terrace when I was just a kid, and then Roosevelt Road until my sister -- Sarah Turner -- finally headed out for college as well. My parents are Kathleen and Robert Turner, and I know if my name isn't familiar, at least they or my sister will be recognized. I'm glad to meet everyone here. Even if I now live in Columbus, OH, I still hope to someday return to Maplewood when I am ready to settle down after I finish college and have spent some time living away from where I grew up. |

Welcome Michael. I think you will find MOL to be a great source regarding what is happening in SO/M while you are away. You may want to check out the local history section of the board, a number of expatriots from our area seem to hang out there from time to time. If you are a Columbia HS graduate, why not check out the Columbia HS alumni section of MOL. Check out contact information for some of your former classmates and add your own. It's a nice way to keep in touch with old friends. |

Mrs. Savino. I remember you very well. :D Both Emily and Sarah babysat me and Sarah when we were younger and on Garthwaite, and I went to your house to hang out a couple times when I was a kid. It's very nice to hear from you again, definitely. |

Hi everyone, My wife and I just bought our first home, and will soon be venturing out of NYC to discover suburban life in Maplewood. Our closing is scheduled for the end of this month, and once we take care of a few renovations, we plan to move in by May. We're very happy at having found what seems to be a warm and inviting community and look forward to getting settled in soon. I'm also thrilled to see such an active online forum (I'd been lurking for a few weeks). Look forward to learning more about the community and getting to know the fine folks here. Thanks, Brian |
