sac, Thanks for the info. My wife and I are moving to Maplewood from Morningside Heights, and we can't wait to move in. After a long search, we finally found our dream house. It seems to be a recurring theme on this board, but the more time we spent in Maplewood house-hunting, the more we felt like there was really nowhere else for us. Brian |

Welcome!! I grew up at 104th and WEA, went to Columbia grad, and lived at 105th and Bway for 12 years afterwards. While I still miss the neighborhood, I love Maplewood/South Orange (we've been here 4 years) and it's been a great move for our family. Hope to see you around town! |

That's encouraging to hear, Brian. And Tom, thanks for the advice. Believe me, I'm a little frantic with the interest rates rising, but I'm confident it will work out if we wait for the right home. Would you people stop renovating, though?!? And stop having such damn good taste. Do you think I want to move into a house where the living room is the exact shade of sage green I would have chosen and the woodwork is all stripped for me? Please. I'm begging you. |

Hello- I moved to Maplewood in April from Hoboken. I grew up in a nearby suburb and when we thought about moving back to the suburbs Maplewood was my first choice. I do have a small problem. I am looking for a sitter for my 8 yr old son. HS students are fine. Can anyone help? |

Welcome Eileen and family! Or I guess I should say welcome back. I've been in Maplewood for a year now. Take a look at the "Work" and "Please help" sections. They're helpful for many things. But I'll say here that my daughter Maddy, 15, is available as a babysitter. Our number is 973-378-8859. |

Hi, my name is Andrea, and I have been living in South Orange since February 6, 1990. I am a memeber of JESPY HOUSE(since 1985). I grew up and lived in West Orange since right before my 26th birthday. I love South Orange and I am very glad that I moved here. Some of my interests are watching the NJ NETS and DEVILS;watching the NY YANKEES AND JETS. Hangingout with my friends, and my boyfriend(also part of JESPY). Through JESPY, I participate in the NJ SPECIAL OLYMPICS in 3 sports, soccer, basketball and Track and Field. If you want to know more about me, let me know.

I may live in South Orange, but I do love coming to Maplewood, some times it's just a nice change of pace. |

What brings me here, you ask? Why nothing, of course! I flew in under my own power. Up, up, and away! (oh, wait a minute. that was Superman's line) I must be leaving! (what do you think? cute exit line or what?) |

Thanks Pizzaz! I'm moving from Brooklyn (Park Slope/Windsor Terrace). I think I might be a trailblazer, of sorts. What Maplewood needs is an extra Brooklynite, right? What lured me is probably what lured many of the Bklyn transplants.....diverse community, easy commute to nyc, nice village area, good schools (although after reading MOL, I'm not so sure anymore), and MORE SPACE!!! Maplewoodians (woodies, woodites?) seem like genuinely nice people. |

You'll love the schools. The complaints are mostly about how to make them better than they already are. How old are your kids? Welcome! |

My daughter is only 14 months old, but it is never too early to plan. I am a product of public schools from K-University, so I'm looking forward to helping making the schools even better. thanks for the welcome |
