It's actually sickening but I'm glad his ridiculous rant is public and he's exposed for the anti semitic nut job that he is. How long before the audio tapes are public? |

The problem is , there are a lot of Jews in Hollywood and this human cockaroach named Gibson will have trouble making his drivel and will get more and more bitter, and start saying "THEY'RE" against him . Unfortunately, he has a much bigger audience for his lunatic ravings than his father and a lot of people who you wouldn't expect will start listening to this moron, some even on this board. |

It seems Gibson's major problem is that he was a very conservative religious nut, rather than a very progressive anti-war nut. In the former, no excuse. In the latter, all is forgiven.

Slate has helpfully posted annoted copies of the police report. If you'd care to make a case for why Gibson's just-this-side-of-a-hate-crime rant is in some way comparable to being anti-war, maybe you're in the bag, too. |

Mr. Gibson is not anti-America (didn't you see "The Patriot", fer cryin' out loud). He does have other issues, though. On the otherhand, he has been on record as being not thrilled about our adventures in Iraq. You folks on the conservative side of things, let us know how you work it out. His anti-semitic statments, though - not good, really not good. |

well I think he says what he feels deep inside. case closed Gibson has serious issues. It doesnt mean I wont watch Mad Max 17 or Die Hard 88. He is pretty funny and his action flicks are entertaining. I just have to set aside my personal feeling that he is an royal head. |

And if Adolph were still around, doesn't mean I wouldn't hire him to hang some wallpaper. I hear he was quite good at that. Please tell me Hoops that if Mel had said the same thing but about any other group, blacks, asians, etc. you'd feel the same way. |

yes. He is a complete head. I didnt intentionally try to mislead you. But he is an actor, there are dozens maybe hundreds of morons in that profession. I dont think I have to check each of their biases and politics before I sit down and try to watch them perform. For you it makes a difference and you cant look at him without being upset, for me I can choose to see the character that he is playing without seeing Gibson the person. clear now? |

Ahhh, such a principled era we live in. In days gone by, someone like Mel Gibson would be ruined by his behavior, but now we separate the man from his career. Yessirreee Mel, I'm a gonna criticize you real bad for what you said, but don't you worry about the profits from your next movie because I go see it anyway. |

Straw-I know you have problems with reading comprehension but try a little harder and read my whole post before taking things wildly out of context. I gather you are trying to paint me as an Anti-Semite, better ask my Rabbi about that, I don't think he'd agree with you. You really have this talent for making people laugh when you had no intention of humor. Your accidental wit is made dim by your ignorance. And by the way, I don't believe continuosly ignorant and mean spirited comments count as Mitzvah's, boychik. |

Note to self - "tits" is not screened by the MOL auto-censor Gibson needs to join Cowards Anonymous, where he can learn to speak his mind while sober. Poor baby, he might not hit a $billion before his early retirement from Hymiewood. |

OK we'll take this nice and slow. Fact-There are a lot of Jews in Hollywood (I have no problem with that, my cousin was one of them). Fact-They are probably mighty peeved at Gibson right now (understandably), and will avoid dealing with the putz as much as possible. Hinting that he was anti-semetic through a movie is one thing, coming out and spewing his vitriol is another. I don't think he can just explain this kind of behaviour as entirely alcohol induced and when people start shunning him he's gonna get more out of control and lash out at the Jew's again (I can almost guarantee it). I don't have a problem with Jew's in Hollywood but Gibson will and I personally hope they give him hell. Kinda like asking a bunch of Liberal Democrats to be hospitable to a person whose own personal mantra is, "Libs are Morons" . |

Uke, The problem I have is the implication that if there were not Jews in Hollywood then Gibson would not be held accountable for his comments. You could well be correct. I think Gibson could well have been speaking from the heart. Alcohol and anger can sometimes remove the filter separating somebody's real feelings from what they actually say. |

After Passion was released and there were hints of Gibson's anti-semitic views, a reporter asked a Jewish Hollywood executive if it would affect Gibson's future - the executive, who wished to remain nameless, said something like, "if he (Gibson) has a hit on his hands we wouldn't think about refusing him." Jewish or not - Hollywood has no ethics. |

From defamer.com - there's an even better recap but it's so full of expletives the fun would be ruined by the MOL censor. Go to http://www.defamer.com Mel Gibson has had Better Weekends: We're willing to bet that when news of Mel Gibson's DUI bust in Malibu early Friday became public later that day, the still-hungover actor probably had no idea that he would soon remember that initial report of his arrest as one of the happier, more carefree moments of his recent life. Since then, the simple story of "celebrity ingests too much alcohol, drives automobile too fast, and gets semi-embarrassing slap on the wrist from law enforcement officials of rich beach community" has become one of "celebrity ingests too much alcohol, drives automobile too fast, tries to run away from law enforcement officials attempting to give him semi-embarrassing slap on the wrist, is easily recaptured by law enforcement officials, threatens to commit act of sexual aggression against law enforcement officials, claims to own the rich beach community which employs law enforcement officials, promises to use vast financial resources to gain revenge upon law enforcement officials [Ed.note--Deep breath, here come the good parts], expresses belief that people of the Jewish faith are responsible for entirety of armed global conflict, tries to ascertain if law enforcement officials are members of the Jewish faith, notices presence of female law enforcement official, refers to female law enforcement official by epithet suggesting that her mammaries are made of sugar, pantomimes intention to urinate on floor of holding cell, and attempts to destroy malfunctioning phone when it fails to provide a dial tone for his legally mandated post-arrest call." If by now you're wondering what the hell we're talking about, TMZ.com narrates the above events in more straightforward fashion:

Did people here really not know Gibson was a bigot and misogynist? Do people believe there was a time in Hollywood when anti-Semites were blacklisted? I think you've got the history a bit backwards here. It's liberal Jews they blacklisted. Has anybody seen Birth of a Nation? To me the thing about Gibson is not that he hurls bigoted insults at LA cops (who probably hear it all the time when they're not talking that way themselves) but that he directs bigoted movies. If I were Gibson's agent, I'd get on the horn to Silvio Berlusconi to ask the former Prime Minister of Italy how he managed to snag the Anti-Defamation League's "Distinguised Statesman Award" a few weeks after saying (while perfectly sober): "Mussolini never killed anyone. Mussolini sent people away on vacation, in internal exile.” (Mussolini introduced "racial" laws in Italy in 1938, which were used to deport some 8,000 Jews to Nazi concentration camps.) I expect Mel to stage a resurrection. |
