Seems a new group has sprung up to do to Bush, what the Swift Boat Liars did to Kerry. The difference is that this group has documents to prove their case: http://www.texansfortruth.com/index.html Looks like they already have an ad ready to hit the airwaves: http://69.59.167.160/tft/AWOL_Large.wmv |

You should be condemning both. |

Condemn them the same way the President condemned the "Swift Boat" ads? "Stop it. Please. I mean it. Oh, please, stop it." You mean, like that? |

Condemn it as in Kerry telling Moveon: "Stop it. Please. I mean it. Oh, please, stop it."

I think sbenois was talking about MHD's own personaal beliefs and consistency. It's OK to slough off and obscure your moral decisions on others, though. People do it all the time. How about you? |

LOL! The Democrats just don't get it. This group will actually HELP Bush. It keeps the swiftboat vets in the media and their message about Kerry coming out. The accusations about Bush in the National Guard are old news and have proven to not be effective in helping Kerry! The message from the swiftboat vets is so much more damning and oviously has had a negative impact on the Kerry poll numbers. I can see the following ads run by Bush (not the swftboat vets) in the weeks before the election: 1. KERRY REFUSES TO RELEASE FULL MILITARY RECORDS - WHEN DID HE RECIEVE HONORABLE DISCHARGE AND HOW WAS IT OBTAINED? 2. IS THIS WHO YOU WANT AS COMMANDER IN CHIEF? breakaway to taped footage of Kerry calling his "brothers" war criminals and admitting to the war crimes he claims to have committed personally. Whay haven't we seen these yet? Karl Rove is keeping them in his pocket and will run them in the final weeks leading up to the election. Once these hit, it will be the final nail in the Kerry campaign. MHD, please tell me what documentation is required from this ad? It's almost all in Kerry's own words. http://swift3.he.net/~swift3/sellout.wmv

My point is that those who were angry at Bush for not condemning the Swift Boats ads can't turn around now and say that this one is okay because "they have documents to prove their case". Besides, Bush has been the Commander in Chief for the last 4 years. I'd say he's earned his stripes. It's kind of dumb to argue about his 30 year old military record now. And yes, I condemn the Swift Boats ads as well. Bush was right that all of the 527 ads should be banned.

Well, documents are handy things to have. Especially when the "Swift Boat" arguments are basically, "the documents are lying." Re: banning 527 ads. What about the non-527 ads from Moveon? |

It all stinks Nohero. 60 Days from the election and we're talking about Swift boats and National Guard duty?

The problem with "the documents" is that Kerry has yet to release his entire military and medical records. He could easily shut-up these vets if he did that but the fact he has not tends to make people believe he has something to hide. It's the Dems who are keeping this in the news. I agree, 60 days before the election and this is all we can discuss? Sad. |

Bush hasn't released his either. Apparently, there's quite a bit missing. What's good for the goose... |

If Kerry is getting grief for being a Vietnam vet who received purple hearts then I'm happy to see Bush get grief for being MIA. It's far more damning if Bush slimed his way out of his National Guard duties than anything Kerry ever did in the military. |

From what I understand, Bush has signed something called Form 180 that's all about releasing records, and Kerry hasn't done the same so we might not take a 'gander' at Kerry's records. I hope Kerry keeps following this. |

It's not what he did in Vietnam - it's what he said when he came home. |

Memos Show Bush Suspended From Flying WASHINGTON - Newly unearthed memos state George W. Bush was suspended from flying for the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam war because he failed to meet Guard standards and failed to take his annual flight physical as required. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20040909/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_n ational_guard&cid=544&ncid=716 I can't wait to hear Bush's latest LIE on this one. I bet he was too busy looking for WMDs in Alabama to take a physical....yeah...that's the ticket.

Nobody cares. By the way, did you view the movie link above? What documentation do you need for that? Kerry is toast. |

Clinton got elected 2x despite dodging the draft. I have to assume that nobody (except staunch partisans) will really care whether Bush was MIA or Kerry fabricated a boat story or two. I know I don't... |

How long will Kerry be able to hide from talking to the media? It's 1 month and counting.... http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20040908-104357-3415r.htm |

jrf, You are right that nobody cares (anyone with any common sense, that is). However, the Swift Liars did such damage to Kerry with proven false statements & quotes taken out of context. One would think that DOCUMENTED lapses in Bush's past would hold even more credibility. I'm sure very similar ads with Bush's own words such as how "terrorists never stop thinking of ways to harm our country and neither do we" could be just as effective in showing why Bush doesn't deserve a second term (not that he deserved the first one either) Funny how none of the Swift Liars ads aired here, yet we are all very aware of them. The same is now happening with the Texans for Truth ads as the story has been picked up by all the major online news sites. |

The president also has gone long stretches without a formal press conference. It has been a couple of months since his last one. Emphasis mine. Gotta love that ultra-precise Moonie reporting!
