"peace out" may be hippie talk, but either way it sounds like "forced cool" which I hate. If you're a geek, be a geek. (say it loud! I'm a geek & I'm proud!*) And if you're cool, anything you say will sound cool. And who gives a **** about "cool" anyway. *no offense I hope! |

People who post on this board and change from italics to bold to regular type after evey sentence. First you think they are quoting someone, but they are not. Then you think they are shouting something, but they are not. Changing the font around doesn't make your post easier to read. It just makes it very annoying to read!!! |

Pet Peeves... My number one Pet Peeve is the wise guys looking for trouble and who don’t mind their own business and have nothing better to do than to bitch about other peoples posting style!!! My number two Pet Peeve is the drug abusers and pushers who somehow get through life without an OD! And my number three Pet Peeve is posters who lurk out here waiting to criticize others for what they say or do... I have a few others I can think of but I’ll save them for any retorts... |

Capitalizing words that aren't proper nouns. Cutting-and-pasting entire articles. How about judiciously (and legally) excerpting the sentence or two that caught your attention and linking to the rest? Oh yeah, and posting things really really really big and thinking that makes it more important. Really. |

ajc, I will assume #1 is directed toward me, and I will assume #3 is as well. I'm not quite sure who you are going after with #2 though. If it was for some reason #2 was directed toward me I will take it as a personal attack, and I will assume that you have been banned from the board (again). I'm not sure where you might get an idea that I am in any way a drug abuser. Now one of my biggest pet peeves is ajc. Also, thank you for helping to illustrate my point of a post in which the syle annoys me. |

Actually, I am a little upset with you ajc. What you posted is called slander, and someone could sue you over that. I hardly know you and yet you post as though you know something about my personal life. And yet, what you have written is nothing but a lie. So, I will not accept any apologies from you, and if you attempt to apologize, I will tell you where you can shove it. The only thing that I know about you is that I don't like you; and I want you to know that this applies to the world outside of MOL.

What gives you the idea I directed anything at you? Did I address you by name? I thought this thread was about Pet Peeves? Get a life McCheese... you can assume what you want, say what you want, and if the shoe fits wear it. Otherwise get off my back! Listen pal, you’re showing up as a little paranoid, don’t you think? If you're bored with life and being a bartender, find another job and in the future think twice before kicking sleeping dogs... BTW, making things really, really, really big doesn't make things important, it's only my style of posting, it’s me, it’s who I am. IMHO, it’s rude of you to criticize people who are inferior to you, or not as smart as you, or as good looking as you, or anything else that doesn’t measure up to YOUR standards! You guys need to move on past me and concentrate on things less dangerous and more important in life, like alligator wrestling or snake charming...

Furthermore, if you thought about it, you are not the only one who has something about my style of posting. So move on before you say something you may be sorry for. |

Nothing again Mayor McCheese or ajc (I don't know either of them or anything about their disagreement), but I can't help laughing at ajc's referring to him by his "last name." It sounds hilarious if you say it out loud in the intimidating voice that ajc's posts suggest. "Get a life, McCheese..." "...one more thing, McCheese..." GRRR!!

I hate that posting style too. It's distracting and difficult to interpret. Mostly, I don't read it anymore. This is a thread about pet peeves. I really think it's very legitimate to say I find all the font changes annoying. Frankly, ajc, it's not about you (from my perspective anyway). You've made it that way by your thin-skinned responses. This thread was kinda fun IMHO. Another grammer peeve: Using "less" instead of "fewer". My dad (the editor) used to correct me all the time, and this one has stuck with me so much that I really hate to hear "less" used incorrectly in this way. I make fewer mistakes these days thanks to Dad, but a little less criticism from him wouldn't have hurt a bit! |

ajc, you have showed that you know nothing about me at all. I am a part time bartender and a full time student about to graduate with a job opportunity in may at Morgan Stanley. If the shoe fits... and if your shoe size is *sshole... then I guess it fits... not that I would say a name here, because I guess that I could mean anyone. So listen pal, I understand that you are upset because all your neighbors hate you and you can't run your little business because the town won't let you and no one around you wants it in operation, but don't take it out on me. So why don't you just go slither back under whatever rock you came from. And speaking of paranoia, I mention posting styles and you think I am talking about you? Well, after seeing your last few posts, I guess you are one of those that I am talking about. So, as a favor to us all, try posting in a most mature, less annoying style from now on. As for saying something I regret, I don't think that it would happen in anything that I might say to you. |

"You've made it that way by your thin-skinned responses." Now thin-skinned responses is very funny... Listen, some of you who don't read my posts say it like it means something. Pleeeeeease, who cares what you people read or don't read? Is this what some of you people really think this message board is all about? Getting people to like you? How insecure! FWIW, I would like to hear what some of you people think the Bold, Italics, Underline, Clip Art, color, font, and size is all about? When should it be used? Should Dave make some hard fast rules about how to use them? Listen, most of this stuff is make-believe. I post for my own entertainment, not to make points and look good for a bunch of nobody’s who don't even identify themselves. Give us a break folks, and get a life!

Hey, ajc, I like you but I have to agree that I find that particular posting style to be annoying and distracting, too. Large letters are generally accepted to imply yelling and anger, and in your case sometimes you are "yelling" and sometimes not. And I always think your italics are meant to quote something from somewhere else, and I'm confused until I realize that's not the case. I've always just thought it was me, but now it seems maybe not. |

The Chicago Manual of Style is good for those kinds of things. But please, back to our regularly scheduled (please note that adverbs ending in "ly" do not take a hyphen. For example, "regularly-scheduled" is incorrect usage and therefore one of my pet peeves) rant and/or rants about pet peeves. And please, feel free to comment about things that happen in the real world, not just on MOL. For example, style and syntax errors in the News Record. Or gross factual errors too numerous to count on the WSJ editorial page. Or the guy who sat down behind me in the Mapleleaf this morning and had a loud cellphone conversation. |

McCheese, you’re wrong, I know a lot more about you than you think… Do I give a damn, no... Haven’t we gone down this road before? I don’t think there’s any cheese at the end of this tunnel for you pal. Listen, maybe “if” and after you graduate you may grow up and some day become a respectful and mature adult, but right now you leave a lot to be desired. As for all your empty haranguing and hate rhetoric about who I am, do you really think anyone cares? I sure don’t. I’ll suggest again that you do yourself a favor and give it up and find someone your own age to play with. BTW, don’t be so sure you haven’t already said something you’ll regret... |

"I'm going to make a new tag called the AJC tag. You'll love it." Probably, but come on Dave, what’s up now? I haven’t dipped anyone today. I didn’t challenge anyone to a duel. I can't believe so many people care so much about what I’m doing or saying. And, what’s wrong with using what God gave us, individuality. Hey, I'm just a regular guy going through life doing the best I can, and wouldn't hurt a fly. I'll admit when I was growing up I never wanted to be like everyone else... How am I doing? Listen, what's with this problem with my posting style? I’m an artist, or at least I’m trying. Picasso had a rough time too. Do any of you have any idea how boring it is to read some of the posters that all look and sound the same, and have no idea what a paragraph is? I don't believe in this diverse community that I would be criticized this way if I was from New York, Black, or Mexican, or handicapped, or Jewish, or this or that, you know, different then the rest of you guys who all look and sound alike... Boring, boring, boring!} Isn’t there any rights for freedom of self expression around here?

shouldn't "art" be on the "drawing board" instead of the "message board"? individualty in posting on a message board comes from content, not artistic expression if that's what you want to call it. |
