There is no greater proof that Pollack must be removed from CHS than the MLKA Black History Assembly today. I was there. It was powerful. It was everything you hope will be in a presentation like this. The student films were remarkable, and I smell Emmy here. I am sorry that I don’t know all of the filmmakers names, they will have a long career in films, I do remember one, Chris Thorne. These students and the students that were in the audience are to be applauded. Their conduct was exemplary. You could hear a pin drop throughout the assembly. The History dept teachers participated, and let me just say they rock. How lucky we are to have teachers who are so passionate about history that they are able to ignite that passion in our students. Don’t not let anyone try to whip you up one way or another about these films, talk to your students, request copies from the school and see for yourself. Too many people are lazy. Rather than see, read or do for themselves they have others spoon feed pre-formed opinions of something and then regurgitate them over and over. It is time to inform yourself about CHS. This last couple of weeks I have been involved with the students and parents over at CHS. It has been an honor and a privilege. For those of you who have not gotten involved I feel sorry for you. It is rare in life when one can participate in or be witness to the birth of a movement. Our students are awake, they are thoughtful, informed and powerful. They will change the world, and I got to witness the beginning. |

Dear Mr. 17, Why is your statement set off in quotes? Should it be attributed to someone else? If I may interject my own humble opinion, I certainly hope this statement belongs to someone else. It is very uninspired and repetitive. Or, as you young people might say, it’s really lame. But that’s just my two cents worth. Yours, Ms. Wordsmith

Glock is correct. The middle schoolers of my European colleagues put most American high schoolers to shame. It's neither the fault of the kids nor the teachers. It's the curriculum in our sanitized little "NCLB" world. And, yes, I know it's been that way for years, not just under the current administration. Although, as far as I know, this is the first one in decades to have a so-called educator close at hand. |

ffof, is it your habit to speak on that which you know nothing about? I only recently dipped into this world. In the real world I have been very vocal and active for 16 years. You see there are those write or speak about what is wrong with what other people do and those who go out in the world and do. |

Dear Mr. K, Our Mr. 17 added the attribution to Stokely Carmichael after my post. You will note that Buzzsaw supplied the correct information just two minutes after my inquiry. Mr. 17's comment, immediately above, concedes the fact and claims it's funny; I will let the readers decide the latter point. I suspect Mr. 17 is the just victim of youthful enthusiasm, so eager for the world to see his posts that he can't be bothered to proofread. Yours truly, Ms. Wordsmith P.S., My bad for not adequately proofeading my own work. It is OK now? M.W.

And there are some like Sherlock (yes I know who she is and she knows who I am)who couldn't even adequately be a MMS HSA president until she realized she had to actually join the HSA - something she never did at Tuscan because it must have gone against her political philosophy. Somehow in keeping with her political philosophy, I also understand there was no newsletter during her entire tenure as HSA president. Am I stretching the truth? I don't think so. Who cares. Apparently she doesn't and neither do others when they discuss the issues at CHS. Not nice you say to bring this FACT out in public. Check out Sherlock's opening statement in this thread. Have your disagreements with the principal or the administration - I certainly do. But to be rude and caustic and highly irrational in a public forum - how does it feel to be on the receiving end Sherlock? Oh I'm so proud of myself for speaking the truth. That is what I teach my son. I also teach him to respect his fellow human beings and see things for what they are. Not to see oppression behind every stone. God knows what you have taught your children Sherlock. Hopefully not to act with the kind of disrespect you have shown on this board and in public. Wendy Lauter |

Sherlock: 'There is no greater proof that Pollack must be removed from CHS than the MLKA Black History Assembly today. ' I don't understand the point you are trying to make. Why is the fact that the students and faculty gave a terrific assembly 'proof' that anyone should be removed? |

Because no reasonable person would have gotten in the way of this incredible assembly. Wendy, you are truly vile, I know who you are and yet I don't need to do what you did, but you have to live with yourself, and perhaps that is all the punishment you need. |

Sherlock, if that is how you felt, then perhaps you should have stated that initially. Otherwise, your entire post was one long non-sequitur. I appreciate that you praised the MLKA assembly and the teachers, but leading off with "There is no greater proof that Pollack must be removed from CHS than the MLKA Black History Assembly today" without including your rationale made no sense. Then, judging from your 8:11 post, you reveal yourself to be rather nasty. Nasty + nonsensical = low credibility. |

Sherlock, Stop bashing Wendy. She's one of the ones who makes a difference. Sherlock, after reading your posts I thought you were a middle-schooler pretending to be an adult. Turns out you're an adult with children in our school system. You are a semi-literate angry adult who wants/needs to shakes things up and use your kids as proxy. Pathetic. |

Onyx: 'Scully, have you just come out of a time warp? ' Yeah, probably. I've been accused of worse. Guess I've walked into an ongoing debate. Sorry BUT within the post I was asking about the assembly was described as both great AND proof that someone should be removed(!?). On it's own it didn't make sense. My kids are out of college so I don't pay as much attention to the education threads as should (as a taxpayer if nothing else).

I love this place...LoL On a more serious note and back to the discussion. While I did not see the actual assembly (on Bio. trip to St. Barnabas to view a live Kidney Transplant - example of the great opportunity for education we have at CHS) I did see the video documentary that was put together by select students. Cris has always been great at what he does. It was no surprise that he came through once again and proved others wrong (reference to an alleged comment made by the principal stating, "the presentation would most likely cause a riot in the school"). If only we could go back in time and if this assembly had happened as planned...where would we be? |

Southorangemom, excellent question for Dave. Why Dave, why? Here may lie the issue for Wendy Napoleon complex Part of Speech: noun Definition: the condition of being small in stature but aggressively ambitious and seeking absolute control. Mean people suck!
