Pyschomom-

I wasn't trying to offend anyone and my comments werent directed at you but at the "undesirable elements" that are coming from Newark/Irvington whether they to live just to hang out. I don't know what the current housing prices are in the Jacoby area but I assuming, based on James Brown, that some moved in from N/I when housing prices were low and brought there trash along with them.

Until N/I begin policing their populations more effectively, both towns will always carry this negative stigma.

Dear James:

I have taken the time to not only once but twice now drive down your street at night and again there was nothing horrible to see. You get all foulmouthed and blow of steam in all directions just because I am not agreeing with your statements in your last post...so be it. I think you are pissed cause the plantets are just not aligning around your head as you would like. Cause this is YOUR neighborhood right! and YOUR street! and YOUR way of living. okydoky then..

I am sorry you got robbed but that happens everywhere in the world and has nothing to do with Jacoby. In the post that made me realize how unreasonable you really are you refer to "them" "fat-assed" "lazy". However you say that 90% of your neighbors are people who want the same thing you do and four sentences later you add "We need a jail here more than a block party".

OK so I don't agree with you so now it's ok to get foulmouthed and nasty, to call me names? (even though you can refer to me as baywatch anytime) Well you sound like one reasonable man..I told you to have a block party and get together with those 90% who are good people (as per your statement). Get it together and stick together against those 10%. From your discription these 10% are fairly young people and live in the neighborhood. Start a neighborhood watch and start talking to the more reasonable young people. But hey no... you just go off on your rant and f*ck them all statements. I am glad I don't have you as a neighbor.

Crabby: No we shouldn't settle for less but why don't you take a ride and see what Jacoby looks like? Most of you know this street only by the discription of a JB. It is definately a manageable neighborhood. Yeah we could listen to people like James or we can go out, see for ourselves, make an impact and try to talk to our neighbors and tell them of our concerns.

Talk to the young people in your neighborhood and get to know them. I am not saying there are no bad people but hey call the cops on them. Call the cops 50 times a day if you have to but not because people are sitting on their own front porch talking. If the activities are that blatantly bad then I could assure you the Maplewood cops would be on it.

SLK: I am not whitewashing..I just call it as I see it.

Harold: You don't have to use the word N*gger to be racist. You and JB are right, racism is prevalent on both sides of the fence and it is unfair, unjust and hurtful no matter where it comes from and who it is directed at.

I will say my goodby's now as it is getting pretty tiring to try to talk to JB.

Man, what a tough guy!

Claudia: I don't think driving down a block twice in the evenings could offer the same perspective of a street as living there day in and out. You seem very dismissive based on a very minor sampling of first-hand information.

I'll be there. Will even offer to drive.

Robert Livingston: Considering there is only one poster who is going of about jacoby...what...the other people who live there don't have a computer... (he does mention here and there that there are likeminded people in his neighborhood) and knowing that the police seems to be unable to arrest somebody even though as per JB crime occures fairly regularly in broad daylight. I am not saying that jacoby is golf island but hey it was never golf island (salter and burnett). It is a middle to low income street next to a middle to low income city with middle to low income problems. Oh yes we have low income, mostly minority inhabited streets in Maplewood!

Bajou-

Who is driving? I will walk Jacoby.

Maplewood is a small town. It is hard to imagine that the MW police are not aware of any going ons on Jacoby, if applicable.

And I will say it again. The location of the new police station is no coincidence...

NOW FFOF: Read my posts...I tell him over and over to call the cops. Who is saying that bad behavior is exceptable....

I am telling him that his vision of jacoby street might not be what everybody else sees.

And now enough from me here. This was a thread about Columbia Highschool not Jacoby Street.

May I ask if somebody knows if its true. The principal who was gone for several months now has received a promotion in status and raise to work in Administration?? I worked for the BOE a long time ago and I know that the CHS Principal was the highest paid job after Horoschak...

I love the selective way you folks listen- or DON'T. The Maplewood Police are aware of everything that happens on Jacoby. The recent trouble that flared up again last night is still about the MEMORIAL DAY holiday. Noone has been in closer contact with the ploice than I have.Baywatch is still so very very confused. She thinks I am hiding in my house. I am outside on my porch whenever I am not working. I am ready. I am waiting. So is my dog, my video camera, my cell and my bat. I am not screwing around with these assho**s.
I love the folks that tell me if I don't like the lifestyle,or culture of my neighborhood..... Since when is yelling and screaming , blowing your horn, being drunk stoned and dissorderly at all hours of the day or night a lifestyle? I refuse to beleive as baywatch would have us believe that any of this criminal, moronic behavior is black culture, or diversity- it is not . It's only BULLS**T
If you really wanted to help, and not just type, you don't need to WALK JACOBY St,
you need to watch out for your neighbors, and call the police as so many have correctly advised. Confront people abusing the town. There's no shortage of them! Go to the library and check out what I have said, see the behavior at the pool. It's all right in front of you. The buffoons of course, and there isn't roon to list them all, will do nothing as expected.ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRlike Baywatch they will pretend to really really know what's going on in a neighborhood they have spent 2 minutes in.
Just now the young mother across the street has screamed at her toddler to stop ***G PLAYING GAMES. If I had heard a slap or punch with it, I would have called the cops. I didn't.

James:

I have told you to call the police when needed, I have said to confront uncivilized behavior, I have said that I was only there twice and on the first post about my visit to your neighborhood I said that I might have caught a quiet night. I have never said it is a culture issue between black and white.

I just voiced my opinion on handling confrontations in a civilized manner by communicating with the neighborhood. By getting together with likeminded neighbors and address this as a group. However you have other ideas...

"I am waiting. So is my dog, my video camera, my cell and my bat. I am not screwing around with these assho**s. "

You are getting scary dude.

Now kiss my baywatch a**!

WELL WELL BAYWATCH, kiss your ? YOU are not only delusional but rude. What makes you think I haven't tried every reasonable approach before getting to where I am now? Wait now I remember you are the Amazing Kreskin right? You know all about me , my neighborhood, what we've tried, how long we tried to sort things out in a civilized way. You know all about it. Remember N.A.G.S= Nieghbors Against Gangs? We put hundreds of people in Seth Boyden School to help us and the police work on this. The founder of this group mover to PA because he could not handle the crap on my street. I have tried over and over to have any intellegent disscourse with you.Seemingly you are incapable of grasping the obvious. I tell you 10 grownups are sitting on the steps blowing smoke on two babies- you tell us it's good they have family time. I tell the mom leaves her kid outside unatended, thats ok with you.
Why not pick one side of your mouth and speak from it.Better yet, just shut up.

James-

Calm down.

I took a drive down Jacoby (starting from SA) around 5PM today to scope things out. I know I shouldn't expect to see much then and I didn't. Jacoby between SA and Boyden seemed serene enough. Is this the area you are speaking about or is it pass Boyden? I noticed how things changed when I reached this point and did notice some kids hanging out on the front porch of a house not to far in. It did remind me of Brooklyn in some ways. Some young kid threw his gum wrapper down on the ground like it was nothing. This is the type of mentality that made me move from Brooklyn.

Is NAGS still active and how successful were they? And again, am I correct in the area which you are thinking of? PL me your address. I'll stop by (really).

Bajou, I do agree with JB on his last point. What he is experiencing is not good parenting at all with these people across the street. They sound like alot of parents I came across in Brooklyn. They would just let their kids play in front of their buildings all day and wouldn't dare get their asses off their stoops. The sad thing was Prospect Park, the main branch of the Library, the Brooklyn Zoo, The Brooklyn Museum and the Botanic Garden was literally one block away and I bet you anything these kids never went....

Unfortunate.

SLK- there have been several problem parts of Jacoby ST. The section by the Bank of America- Jacoby and Springfield has just recently come under control. It had been awful. The concensus being that most of the property was rental, and those people brought massive problems to the street. The second problem area was and is at Boyden and Jacoby. This section (2 BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE)was an official hangout for the bad guys. They ran one very good man out of business by hanging out and hassling his customers until he was forced to sell. The Police had to park all night at the gas station to keep the gangstas away. These same guys bayjou is so in love with robbed the gas station at gunpoint. Shotgun gunpoint. Noone here is laughing about it.Sometimes there were 20 to 30 guys hangin out, being loud,DRUNK STONED,DEALING and menacing people. Sometimes in broad daylight. You will be happy to know the town under much duress was forced to pass new anti loitering laws to combat them. It is better there now. The cops have done a much better job than the town government. My first entrys on M.O. L were to get people out to a special town meeting to deal with these very issues.
The third and worst spot on my street was directly across from my house. For the better part of four years I fought day and night with the gangstas
to keep my family and neighbors safe and keep my neighborhood from becoming the ghetto. I called the Police hundreds of times. They always came and tried to help. Not only did we have to deal with the jerko**s from Maplewood who hung out there every day and night, we also had to deal with badguys imported from Irvington after the State Troopers kicked them out of Irvington center. It got so bad the police came 7 times in one night. That tore it for me. Cars were stolen from my friends ( parked in front of my house ) My wife was harrassed and threatened, I was forced many times to go up against these guys alone. Hence the dog, the bat, the chain. Finally we won and pushed them all out. Things were good for almost a year.
Then came Memorial Day weekend 2006, and it all started again. This time I'm stopping it DEAD in it's tracks. I don't care what it takes. I'm ready.
Bayjou thinks I'm a scary dude. It's the only thing she's ever been right about on this thread. All I ever wanted to do is play, write and produce music and watch my kids grow up in a house I built with my own hands. I am not by nature a violent man. BUT.....If you won't stand up to protect your family, your home, your friends, what would you stand up for? Enough is enough! F them!

PS I'm sure bajou could have given you this history. Besides, what she didn't know, she'd make up- right?

JB-

I am with you man. Seriously, PL me your address and I'll stop by and introduce myself. If it makes you feel any better I have a problem right next door in the form of a 19 year old white trash kid and all his friends. He isn't a bad kid but he isn't too far from being on a Jerry Springer special. A high school dropout, he works 2nd shift at a grocery store so his friends usually meet him after work and hang out in his backyard drinking, smoking, yelling at 1AM. My wife had to go out last night and threaten to call the cops. They are always like "sorry" but then do it again (one of my worst pet peeves). Don't you worry though, I am knocking on the door tonight and settle this thing once and for all. After a year of being here my neighbors are picking up on the fact that I have little patience for disrespectful BS.

Glock-

And you have no proof they were not. In this case, I am more inclined to believe in JB than you since he has been actively involved while you were still in diapers in SO....and by the sounds of your screen name, you appear to want to be in denial of the problem rather than offer any viable solutions.

The police know what goes and are on top of it.
SLK- THATS WHAT I'M TALKIN ABOUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Should you be able to sleep when you want? Or have quiet when you want? Or how about hear the music you want, instead of whatever crap the assh***s are playing. Don't ever threaten to call the cops- ALWAYS CALL THEM. Then if that isn't enough, get in their face and end it. Don't take any sh*t from them. Don't take any sh*t from anyone!

JB-

I am not so worry about me but when my family is affected that is when you'll catch my attention. Call it the "mama bear response."

Don't worry, I will handle WT boy. They are getting a knock on the door when I get home tonight. The fact that my wife had to go out and say something, this punk is lucky I don't show up with a baseball bat. What is the noise ordinance in Maplewood? I am going to tell him that if I even hear a fart from outside after the NO time I am calling the cops.

And just ignore Glock, he is young and in denial. In his world all black Americans are innocent of everything and when they are not, it is the "system's" fault.

S.L.K. Wrong, as usual. I'm just saying that many things could look very similar, sleep deprivation, illness etc etc. I'm not saying that you're wrong. Butcan you really fault someone for sitting by their house and "looking high"?

I'm going to drive down to the street you claim is a warzone today...and check it out.

This has nothing to do with denial, black americans, or the "system". It's just common sense. If you walk down the street and see someone who looks "high" what are you going to do? Sleeper hold them and drag them to the police station for questioning. Cmon.

Edit:: Oh yeah, I'll be sure to throw on my white tee and black rag so I blend in with the other "bad guys".

You two are so pathetic. SLK you have a 19 year old who sits in his own yard and is noisy, is smoking and drinking with his friends. Oh my god call the military ... lets take em down those white trash/black bastards...

It's called being young! JB you have been in R&R for 40 years.. then you have been around long enough to remember that your generation was described as rowdy, lawless, listing to devil music, good for nothing punks...remember

You boys are gettin to be old men...

Bajou-

I am ok with them hanging out in their backyard but not at 2AM in the morning yelling, cursing, pissing...every morning and waking my SICK 2 year old....

Now do you understand why I would have a problem?

I don't think JB and I are being too old. I think you are desperately trying to hang on to whats left of your youth, even if it means taking foolish postions.

Being young does not mean you totally disregard others around you. I am only holding them to the same easy standards I held for myself at their age.
