Glock is 100% right. It happens because it's allowed to happen like all the other little quality of life issues around here. I don't think Cattail over-reacted at all. People should not be having sex out in the open in the reservation in the middle of the day. Full stop. |

One of the reasons these men are likely to go up to the reservation for their sexual encounters is that up to now much of the reservation has been otherwise deserted most of the time. The dog park is likely to change that. If enough of us go up to the reservation for more socially acceptable activities, the men are apt to go elsewhere. |

At least until the president can cure them of their unpatriotic gayness once and for all. Now: What about all the heterosexual teens that have been having sex up there for decades? Do we have an action plan for them?

I'll think about the heterosexual teens later.... but getting back to the original thread for a moment, I personally plan on laughing like hell if I run across two guys going at it on the trail. Nothing 'furls the flag' faster than uprorious laughter, right? Don't bother yelling at these guys - they might get into it... damn, they might just "admit they've been bad boys" and ask for a spanking.

Cattail, I think I spent part of my labor with my third child on the path you mention...I stopped to have a contraction by sitting/leaning against a fallen log & looked down & saw used condoms/wrappers all over - nothing to do but laugh at that point...it was gross but also ironically amusing given why I was there. |

Yes, everyone agrees, yet for some reason someone has decided the argument has been made that people SHOULD be having sex in public. Yet... no one seems to have made that point. This "conversation" went off the rails with comments like: "All trials are open to public, what gives any sexual orientation the right to claims one trail over the other?"

I don't think anyone made the argument that people SHOULD have sex anywhere; however, some seem to advocate that it's OK to in the reservation. |

Claiming a homosexual's only area of the park, (and don't try to sugar coat the warning), for public display of private parts, is theft of our taxed to death in Essex County freedom to enjoy all of the park without fear of having to sit or walk through a re-run of brokeback southmountain. If some want to enjoy a hole in a park, play miniature golf. jd |

What I don't understand is why people waste time complaining on MOL when they can use MOL to rally people together to voice a unified complaint to the town officials. If nothing is done, then go to the county prosecutor and then the state government, or any news channel for more exposure to the issue. Or maybe there is an entrepreneur out there who can get some film footage of these activities and start selling a "guys gone wild" video. Of course after the first video or two, these activities would probably stop. |

I'm always hearing about all the cruising that goes on in the reservation. It was even on the 10 oclock news on ABC a few months ago. However, I've never seen anything up there and I go pretty often. I see teenagers drinking beer or smoking weed fairly often but they actually tend be really polite to me when i walk by and don't bother anyone. I had thought that most of the cruising goes on real early in the morning but I geuss I'm wrong? |

I wouldnt be shocked, I would be disgusted and upset. If you arent a cop or fireman dont tell me I cant go somewhere in the reservation when I want to, then if I do come upon 2 adults who cant figure out that its not alright to screw in public I would do the only thing that comes to mind. Throw a banana and call Brett and SLK for advice. |

Yes, all the gay people telling straight people that they can't use certain trails needs to stop. It has been going on far too long and far too often. Though, come to think of it, this is the first time I've ever heard of it. But no matter -- we have suffered long enough. Attention all you gay people who are constantly telling straight people that they can't use certain trails: Your days are numbered. Be About Sexual-Orientation-Neutral Hiking Trails.

And for the few people who haven't seen this and actually want to, just go ANY DAY OF THE WEEK (even holidays) to the dog park close to dusk/early evening. The road bends and loops back around toward the entrance of the park (don't do a U-turn just follow the road around). You will see VERY MANY parked cars with well dressed men standing outside a lot of them waiting for someone or bent over talking to someone else in the car. For that time of night, it's an inordinate amount of cars parked compared to the rest of the park. It's pretty darned obvious. If you haven't seen it, then you aint looking hard enough. Once again, I state and stand by, this makes sense why it's happening and I am glad the cops have better things to do with their time. This just seems so unimportant to me. And SLicK, don't forget to call me the next time the wife is coming home late so we can meet again by the sycamore tree. And don't pretend you don't remember which one I'm talking about. |

yeah right, cfa...straight, married guys up in the reservation when they are supposed to be at the gym, "running" or at the home depot. say it isn't so. mwsilva, yeah that would be a lot of fun. let me know when you and your posse are going up there...it would be really scandalous and effective posting pics of guys standing in the woods looking like they just ate crow. make sure you wear your glasses though in case you see one of your neighbors. boy, that would be awkward, huh? |

It may very well be that all kinds of people congregate for all sorts of nefarious activity. It is not restricted to the gay community, the straight community; however, the activity is absolutely wrong no matter if it was freakin' Tony Parker and Eva Longoria getting busy on the trails. Oldstone [among others] seems to think otherwise. It surely sounds like you enjoy hearing all of the "Cops" stories from your "friend". You must find it quite titillating. Now stop trying to pick me up.

ok, i've had it with you and your insinuations. please show me where i say it's ok for people to have sex in the reservation. and then show me where it sounds like i enjoy hearing what my police officer friend tells me about things that have happened in the reservation. for someone that is so absolutely against people gettin busy behind a tree in a deserted reservation, you seem to be right here at every post salivating to distance yourself from the "nefariousness". btw, is that schoolgirl crush on james dean still haunting you? |

I laughed outloud at CFA's post I have to admit and I think there is a lot of truth in his post. However, while I am sure a fair amount of hetrosexual activity goes on in the Res, I don't think it has become the local place for hets to stop off for a quick bj on the way home from work or picking up the dry cleaning.

You call Something Witty prudish because of being shocked at this activity. That tells me that to you this type of thing is a "wink-wink, nudge-nudge" behavior that we should simply turn a blind eye towards. If that's not how you feel, spell out EXACTLY where you stand. Is it OK or not? BTW - the avatar is Johnny Cash and I've never had a crush on another dude. Sorry. |

bobk, think again. it may not be south orange and maplewood hets (i mean, how stupid would that be with the reservation in maplewood's backyard?) but my source tells me they are from the surrounding area...west orange, livingston, millburn, etc. go up there after work and check out what alleygator alludes to. so ref, i am uninterested in conversing with you. you couldn't respond to my questions about what i supposedly think or said AND now you say i called something witty prudish. do you just make this up to bolster your "outrage"? i don't owe you an explanation of EXACTLY where i stand on anything...especially given your proclivity to editing what people say to suit yourself. yuck, johnny cash? at least dean was handsome...and gay. |

I don't think the activity going on in the res that everyone is referring is "het". "Hets" taking a break from being "het", yes, but it's all men. That said, I couldn't care less and I'm up there all the time, but I do understand being concerned if my kids saw that, even though I am NOT a parent (that I know of). I guess that would be a good time to explain the facts of life - real live sex ed!

I guess you never implied "prudish" with the "sister helen" reference...
