The terror threat in the New York Metropolitan Area has been consistently high since 911. What's your point? |

I wasn't referring solely to the New York area. Hence "US" in the title |

Jonnyt, please tell me you aren't serious. Sadam has used chemical weapons on his own people, killing perhaps hundreds of thousands and dumping them into mass graves. He has openly supported and sent money to the familes of suicide bombers. No, things aren't perfect now..nor will they probably ever be. But pleaseeeeeease don't try to tell me that the WORLD isn't safer with him captured. You only embarrass yourself when you make statements like that. |

So an increase in the nationwide terror threat rating means we're safer? Sorry, don't follow |

The world is safer now that he is captured. But it is bizarre that in the absense of any evidence whatsoever, and in the face of the Bush administration's admission that there is no link between Saddam and 9/11, people still insist on believing that there is a link. Tom Reingold There is nothing

Keep dreaming Duncan. Bush isn't losing. It's over, your brand of politics is dead. We will never again allow liberal morons the chance to take this country back to a time and place where terrorists felt they had a free pass when it came to killing Americans. It's over, you've lost. You may as well move to Canada, because this isn't your America anymore. Sorry to burst your bubble.. If you support our troops you would serve them well by voting for Bush. If Dean wins, and he probably won't get the nomination, he will cut defense spending and that will mean closing of bases and reducing the number of active forces. The people in the armed forces that I know fully back the president. |

Straw, as usual your attempt at flaming me is so off base. Go to Canada?? What are you crazy. And this is my America. Always will be. Flawed though it may be in many many ways. I am proud of this country while simultaneously ashamed of things done in her name. Its you who might want to move to Canada...or better Cuba. Cause then you can be completely protected by the existing government and not have to bother with independant thought that drifts, more often than not, into areas of gray that you dont acknowledge. Im sticking around and Im gonna try to make things better as I see them, rathar than coast on a party line that I dont agree with. And Im starting on Springfield ave. A place that deserves reclaimation despite your assertions that its not worth it. And thats the crux of the difference between you and me.

I think the greatest danger would be when the terror alert level is low. |

"this isn't your America anymore". Hey Straw if Max Bialystock read your post, he'd turn to Leo Bloom and scream, "That's our Hitler", even without an audition. Turn the volume down, isn't this the season to be Jolly, Happy, Merry, etc., etc, etc. |

"When Clinton lied no one Died"? Thats right Duncan. And while he was getting serviced by Lewinksy, ducking the press and up to his ears in scandal along with the rest of his inexperiencesd excuse for an administration, the terrorists were planning 9/11 right under their noses. SO in fact, people did die because of Clintons lies. "Its taking BUSH 3 years to fix what Clinton screwed up in 8."

And while he was getting serviced by Lewinksy, ducking the press and up to his ears in scandal along with the rest of his inexperiencesd excuse for an administration, the terrorists were planning 9/11 right under their noses. So the first World Trade Center bombing...that was George Bush I's fault? Clinton had been in office for less time at that point than George Bush had before 9/11. Whatever your opinions may be (and subtle they are) calling Clinton's team "inexperienced" after a term and a half in office is a decent indicator of your objectivity. Also, I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone accuse Clinton of ducking the press...I thought he was a spotlight hog? Even so, the press-ducking blue ribbon goes to our current President, hands down. And as a matter of correction, Dean has publicly stated that not only will he not cut the defense budget, but he won't try and cut combat pay and vet's benefits the way Dubya has. I think the military (including Nat'l Guard who have had their tours DOUBLED in Iraq) may not be as strongly behind Bush as you think. As far as Hussein being a threat...was he a threat to Iraqis? Most definitely. Iranians and Kuwaitis? Absolutely. Americans living on American soil? Not by a long shot. There were some valid reasons to remove Hussein (though invasion was far from necessary) but protecting our homeland was not one of them. |

Amen Duncan. It's the people who really love and care about this country that speak out when they feel their government isn't acting in their best interest, Conservatives like to spew the rhetoric of what this country is all about but what they really want is a dictatorship where no one will disagree or question their authority. They don't want free thinkers, they want sheep, lemmings ditto-head zombies and boy do Republicans ever fit that bill. _______________ Do Not Pass Go |

Yeah, that'll be about the time he'll actually be presidential, given his devotion to the ranch and Camp David. * ** *** **** We can't handle the truth, because if you handed us the truth, we'd hand you over to the authorities! |
