If you support our troops you would serve them well by voting for Bush. If Dean wins, and he probably won't get the nomination, he will cut defense spending and that will mean closing of bases and reducing the number of active forces. So the first World Trade Center bombing...that was George Bush I's fault? Clinton had been in office for less time at that point than George Bush had before 9/11. Whatever your opinions may be (and subtle they are) calling Clinton's team "inexperienced" after a term and a half in office is a decent indicator of your objectivity. Also, I'm not sure I've ever heard anyone accuse Clinton of ducking the press...I thought he was a spotlight hog? Even so, the press-ducking blue ribbon goes to our current President, hands down. And as a matter of correction, Dean has publicly stated that not only will he not cut the defense budget, but he won't try and cut combat pay and vet's benefits the way Dubya has. I think the military (including Nat'l Guard who have had their tours DOUBLED in Iraq) may not be as strongly behind Bush as you think. As far as Hussein being a threat...was he a threat to Iraqis? Most definitely. Iranians and Kuwaitis? Absolutely. Americans living on American soil? Not by a long shot. There were some valid reasons to remove Hussein (though invasion was far from necessary) but protecting our homeland was not one of them. | ||
