The area around Prospect and SA is coming along. Now if Burnett BBQ opens, Topps gets rid of the metal fascade and something can be done with the molting gas station.............

How about a KFC? :-)

Here is my wish list for SA's next wave.

1) Turn some focus toward the Polish meats and Island Spice building. Its looks like hell.
2) Complete the bumpouts on both sides of the street from Maplechek down to D&D.
3) Fill the vacant store near TOPF and the Old Gas station site with some classy establishments like Nomads and Beaded path.
4) The building that houses the Pay in advance drycleaners (What the hell does that mean anyway) and auto repair shop accross from Town and Country should be re-faced or demolished.

Thats all for now.

NLR,

Each of those things that you list are being looked at and worked on. Your wish abou the vacant store next to Topps will come true shortly. We have been trying hard to either sell the Jack's Autobody building to a developer or get the owner to redo the facade.

The new church to be built at the Apter site will be quite beautiful. The new condo to be built at the site of Orange Mattress will also be a very nice building and will bring much needed residences to the Ave (residences=people. People=customers.Customers=more and healthier businesses). Burnett BBQ will be finished in spring. The new Chinese restaurant is very good. The new pedestrian lighting will be finished soon. There is at least a fair chance that the new Police/Court building will be built on the Ave.
Many more businesses and developers are showing interest. Only a few years ago, they would hve run away screaming if you suggested SA as a place to be.

As for your car being stolen, United, sorry about that. I read in the paper recently that a car was stolen from a driveway in Short Hills. Guess that neighborhood's no good either.

Straw,

Congratulations for being the first to dump on an otherwise upbeat discussion.

I was jogging this morning because its important I look good for the ladies..You know what I mean. Anyway, A car service guy stopped me and asked me how to get back toward NYC. I told him to take 280 though he was closer to 78.

The reason? I still don't feel comfortable sending someone in the SA direction. Probably never will either.

Wasn't Strawberry the same person who said we should go to SA to dine at Verjus? I guess his endorsement only comes after he gets a free meal.

So, not only has he let us all know what he is, he's also told us his price - $115.

the only thing I saw change between your "SA is a hell hole" stance, and your flip flop to "go to Verjus, it's wonderful!" was a free meal.

Hey, it's your prerogative not to go to Sprinfield Ave, but the rest of us are happy to see the improvements, and will gladly spend our money there.
