I couldn't let 2003 end without posting on this site a public Thank You to Vic and Jerry. Although I have lived in Maplewood before either of you ever served as elected officials here, it seems you define the best of Maplewood for me. Thanks for everything you have done. I admire both of you for your courage, honesty and dedication to our fair town. Have a peaceful and Happy New Year.

Bon Voyage Vic and Gerry.

Gerry, this hurts your chances of beating Grassy's tenure.

Who will be your replacement on the Joint Committee?

Thank you Vic and Jerry for your years of service to Maplewood, which I suspect, will continue in some manner, shape, or form after the clocks ticks through midnight tonight.

I didn't always agree with them, but I respect their honesty and openness. We will miss the Mayor and Mr. Ryan. I guess I can start calling them Vic and Gerry pretty soon. :-)

Good Luck Guys!

Good luck to two guys who sat on the throne while taxes doubled and tripled here in town???

You people have to be kidding, right? These guys may be nice men and town patriots but I'll be damn if I ever thank anyone for being in office while my taxes went from 6,000 or so to well over 12,000. No friggin way.

THAT'S WHY PRIME MINISTER PROFETA AND CO BETTER GET THIS DAMN THING FIXED!!!!!!!! NOW!

tx Emmie,

It's not easy making a stand and holding to it. I realize our town leaders are local men like ourselves who want to be liked and appreicated. However, these men made some terribly short sited decisions and as a result we have a big problem here in town. Are they totally to blame? No, are they partially to blame..You better believe it.

and for the record I must say Leventhal's decision on the cell tower was so poor and narrow minded, I doubt she's ready for prime time either.

Strawberry,
At least we get the best schools in America for our taxes.
"You kids today have it easy. When I was a kid everything was HUGE. My dad was nearly four times bigger than me. You couldn't even see the tops of counters.... Then gradually everything became smaller until it was the manageable size it is today."

A million thanks to Vic and Jerry. In a job which few of us would ever tackle, they did it well; they got the town on track to be even better; and when tough decisions had to be made, they did the right thing.

Reflective: If you haven't heard, Huemer is the rep to the Joint Meeting. He is also the Vice-Mayor.

Mr. Straw: I choose to disagree with you rather than attack you. No matter who had been in office your taxes would have gone up that much sooner or later. It was a disaster waiting to happen. DeLuca and Ryan were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. If they were different kinds of men they would have just demogogued the issue until the State forced the reval.

Now maybe it is time for you and I ought to stop talking about it and move on.

Vic and Jerry tooks steps to comply with state law by conducting the reval. They were obviously as surprised as anybody by the impact. However, anybody that believes that:

1. Vic and Jerry are responsible for the tax increases for some or for the high property tax levels

OR

2. Believes that the new town council will have much impact on our property taxes

is seriously deluded.
