I've never gotten the "Katherine" thing, but these people voting for Ace are in serious need of help. Lisa needed to go. Next week has just got to be Ace. |

hey Bucky wasn't that BAD this week. He was better than the bottom 3.
I knew Lisa's time was up, but Katherine's rendition of Christina's song "The Voice Within" was HORRENDOUS! She should've went home packin last night. Again, Ace is just a "pretty" face. In 2 weeks… GONE! Katherine or Bucky next week.

Thank god other people thought Katherine was bad. I thought it was just my tv or something when Simon said she was almost as good as Christina. Yikes! I say Bucky or Ace next week. But it is country week, so if Bucky picks a good song he might be hanging in for a while.

Country week? Will that changes things. Could be Ace sooner than I thought, unless Katherine gives another performance like this past week. Bucky will fly through for another week. Country is HIS genre.

Katherine is good, really good. I love watching her sing. She's the only contestant with strong vocal skill that comes from years of voice training. Everyone else is a wanna be who learned how to sing in the shower. That said, Katherine needs to find her niche, one that hopefully appeals to viewers. At the end of the day, she may be more suited to a career on Broadway than one in Hollywood. |

She's the only contestant with strong vocal skill that comes from years of voice training. Your kidding right? What about Mandisa, Chris, Paris, Elliott and Taylor? Out of the ladies, all 3 judges thought Mandisa had the BEST voice and for the guys, Chris. This last show Katherine was EXPOSED. Her performance was awful and by the viewers votes…that proves my point. |

Did anyone notice Simon sneer and duck his head into his arms when Katherine invoked God when she was not booted off? Similar to his reaction to Mandisa's gospel song. I am surprised "America" has not risen in arms and sent him back to England. Almost every one of the 24 semifinalists invoked God or Jesus in their on-line profiles, by the way. Wonder which ones he is voting for? |

What the hell happened? And Ace wasn't in the bottom three? I think that I just lost complete interest in this show. Usually, by this point all the painful singers are gone & it's fun to watch. Mandisa is hands down the most talented person on the show; she's going to have a great career. |

Even though I'm a huge fan of Katherine, I was surprised to see Mandisa go. She's very talented, though I was shocked to see her sing so poorly Tuesday night. She didn't pick the right song for her voice. A bluesy song would've served her better (practically anything by Martina McBride). All is not lost, however. This exposure will do wonders for Mandisa's career. These theme nights make me very uncomfortable. I don't think it's fair to put the singers so far out of their comfort/style zones. I'd prefer to hear each contestant sing the types of songs that they'd like record if they got a record contract. So next week it's the songs of Queen...?

I heard rumors like this about Mandisa: http://www.advocate.com/news_detail_ektid28426.asp Could be one reason people stopped voting for her. I do think she has an amazing voice and presence and will probably have a great career. But her song choice was abysmal. |

Mandisa and Chris definately have the BEST voices amongst their peers. Mandisa chose the WRONG song. And I also think her fans did not watch this country segment, therefore no votes. Folks may figure she would probably recieve enough votes to put her through to the next week and didn't bother voting. I have to admit, this is the first time I did NOT vote because I was out Tuesday evening. Goes to show, you have to be on your game and choose the right songs that will appeal to the audience. Is it me, but did anyone notice Paris did NOT cry this week and Katherine & others (with the exception of Chris) were dancing for JOY while Mandisa sang? |

Wendyn, I don't think thats the reason no one voted for Mandisa. If that story was the case, believe me, the "right-wing" evangelicals would have a MASSIVE voting campaign to assure that she stayed on the show. It worked for the GWB.

On the rumor
Quote:One last question. A lot of your fans were upset that you listed Living Proof Ministries' Beth Moore — who says homosexuality is ''scary'' — as one of your idols on the American Idol website. Are people right to think you're anti-gay? It breaks my heart to hear that's what people thought of me. I hate nobody. I absolutely live my life treating others the way I would want to be treated. I live my life being guided by love.

There was a little more to that interview, conducted by The Advocate: "Is there a conflict between being religious and being gay? I know my value system, based on that, that on the word [of the Bible], that it does speak of that. I do know I have no place to judge anybody. I know that at the end of time we all face the judge and his name is not going to be Mandisa, so I cannot place any judgment on anyone. Would you be comfortable performing or singing at a gay event? I would not, no. Would it conflict with your religious beliefs? Based on what I believe, I'm not an advocate for [being gay], so it's nothing I would take part in." Unfortunate. I never could understand the "I don't hate anyone, it's not my place to judge, but I could not appear at a gay event" thing. Especially if you are a performer. I'm just glad that I was too lazy to pick up the phone and vote. See what being in the 'burbs does to ya? You fall out of touch..... |

Paris! PLEASE!!! she was awful. even worse on the recap at the end of the show. i totally agreed with simon that it was WEIRD. i have not liked her since she pulled her "singing stunt" while talking to ryan AFTER her performance. the judges that night were obviously annoyed with her that she did that and so was i. she comes off so smug and acts so entitled. i did think it was HYSTERICAL when queen told ace they would absolutely not do that to their own song....it was soooooooo awkward just to even watch! |

Awful, awful show. Queen songs just do not lend themselves to being covered by other performers. I didn't hate Taylor's performance. Could barely watch the others. |

The best part of the show was Brian May telling them that they couldn't bastardize their songs. I was looking foward to this show so much, but once again, what I thought were horrible performances, the judges thought were great. Kellie doing Bohemian Rhapsody was horrible! Chris, Taylor, and I hate to admit it, Paris did the best job. That's right Queen songs don't lend themselves to being done by other people. That's why it could have been a good show. They've had "safe" songs for too long. They need to have everyone do the same song. Elliot just plain sucked doing "Somebody to Love". No emotion. Please god, let it be Bucky, Kellie or Ace tonight! |

I thought the Brian May comments were funny, but I do think he missed the spirit of the show. If he's going to let people perform his songs, he needs to let them change the song around a bit to fit their style. If he doesn't want to change the song, don't let anyone else perform it. |

I think the show should be about who can be the most versatile singer. Having Bucky do country interpretation every week and Katherine so a slow number every week does not necessarily make them good all around singers. I do think that Taylor was one of the more entertaining people last night. |

I couldn't take it, either. I love Queen; grew up with them. I kept in on in the background and occassionally paid some attention. I heard anough of Kellie to want to shoot myself and did not understand why the judges liked her so much. |

PLEEZE… Bring back Freddie Mercury!
The only person who came a little close was Taylor. Ace was perhaps the WORSE! It was interesting that Paris's performance was uninspiring, yet, the rest of the remaining band members of Queen, loved her. Am I the only person starting to become BORED with Idol this season? And why is this evenings results show an hour long?

No one could sing like Freddie Mercury. Now if we agree no that one, it is all about song selection. Its obvious to me that the singers did zero research before selecting their songs. It would have been nice if someone had given each of them a greatest hits CD for them to listen to before they decided on what to sing. Really only Taylor Elliot and Bucky picked good songs for the show. There are so many great queen songs and Ace picks We Will Rock You. Thats was funny. In my opinion that 'song' is nothing more then the rock intro to We Are the Champions. One of them should have sung 'Dont Stop Me Now'. And someone else should have sung "Your My Best Friend", "I Want to Break Free" or "Radio Ga Ga". Song selection is everything as far as I'm concerned.

Phenix - I agree that there is something missing this season. I usually start getting into it at this point because some of these kids sing so well. It's up & down; Paula's sugar-n-spice thing is getting on my nerves; the between-judge cat-fights is old. Perhaps it's that there are some singers there who never should have made it to the top 10 and they are still there. Bucky and Katherine are too hit or miss. And Ace, well, I just can't explain that one. Ain't nobody that cute. He & Kelli can't possibly be as vapid as they appear to be. But, people keep voting for them. It's the Parisization of the country and it's just too damned sad. If it's an hour, I'll end up watching the last 5 minutes. It's going to be one of those really annoying Coke/Ford product placement segments. |

"Queen songs just do not lend themselves to being covered by other performers." and "The best part of the show was Brian May telling them that they couldn't bastardize their songs." Yet Brain May does it himself by letting Paul Rodgers sing them. Kind of ironic. Last night's show was really bad for the legacy of a once great rock band. Freddie Mercury rolled over in his grave after every song. Fortunately it was forgettable and won't ruin the great memories I have of seeing Queen play in the Garden when I was a teen or listening to "Bohemina Rhapsody" over and over again with my headphones late at night in bed. |

Bucky, Ace, Eugene. Buh-bye Bucky. OK - but what about Ace? My friend and I had this conversation last night: Him: I know, but there are so many women in my office who love him. Me: Have you tried saying "OK, he's pretty, but the boy can't sing"? I find that no one can defend that. Him: I'll try it. |

The irony of American Idol is its reflection of the industry as a whole, that is, many performers can't "sing" well but are hugely successful. Brian Adams, Faith Hill, Bon Scott, and next week's AI coach Rod Stewart, for example. Style and charisma can take a mediocre singer far. |

Thank you, America, for gettting rid of Bucky! Unfortunately, I watched last night's entire episode waiting for Queen to perform. I realized half way through that it wasn't going to happen. I kind of thought that when John Deacon and Paul Rogers weren't involved on Tuesday. I have to agree that this season is pretty lame Greenetree-did you mean Elliot? I'm sitting here going -who is Eugene? He has to go also. |

Wendy - where's JTA's vomit icon when you need it? Black - that just shows you how impressed I am with these people this season. Eugene, Elliot, Ernie, whatever. If we're lucky, Ace & Paula will run off together and be lost in some freak Hot Tub Incident. |
