Ok, so I am working on a short film, based on an MOL thread. Any one have any ideas how to fund it? Should I put up a link to PayPal here? Dave? Is that kosher?

Then let's workshop the script right here and talk about casting.

Sounds cool Duncan. When can we expect a plot line leak here on MOL?

the script is almost done actually Dave.

I just have to polish it up a bit. It is a very short short. And actually, Greentree, one of your posts is the punch line.

Just finished the first draft.
Sent it off for approval to the person who gave me the idea.
I will report back.

If you are serious about helping go to

my little web site

and on the front page is a paypal link.
I have some money I can throw at this, but most of what I have I need to save for the feature I am working towards. So some help directed toward this project would be greatly appreciated.

Do you ever offer internships?

I would PAY to have my kid apprenticed in, or simply introduced to, the fine art of film making!
You could rake in a bundle doing a weekend seminar for a dozen kids.

She is still pretty young but it is what she wants to become and she has a passion for it already.

You must see her most recent version of Beowulf using partially mutilated Barbie dolls or her other short film simply called the "Dum Dum Monks" because the monks (her little sisters) drone "dum, dum, dum" before they worship the sacred crystal doorknob.

And all you others I will probably need plenty of extras for at least one or two shots so don't think I won't be calling on you. Just better be good to your word

My daughter is convinced she is the next Brittny Spears/Jessica Simpson, or whatever else appeals to the 8 year old imagination. She would love to be part of some sort of crowd scene.

I would promise to restrain her from actually singing and/or dancing, which would most likely be detrimental to the artistic value of your film

Thanks Campbell for the offer, but the film is set in a cube farm at a large company so it would be hard to sneak an 8 year old into it.

I am trying to figure out how to get my own son (or his image) into it. Since he was born, his name or a picture of him has been on every set of every play I have been in and every film I have directed or been in.

Greentree..if you are reading this, I would love to have a F2F fundraiser and would love for someone else to organize it.

Trying to suddenly produce a movie is gobbling up most of my time, that and keeping up with the other two films that are out "on the circuit". So if you want to help out the film that way, I accept.

back to trying to con some money out of Scott Adams...

Thanks for the tip mem.
All I need to do now is commit to a date and "hire" a crew. With my usual DP moving to LA at the end of the summer, so much for the free lighting package.
Rentals are a harsh reality. But I want this film to be festival worthy. So many people can and will identify with it.

Oh And also it has come to my attention that some folks are not keen on PayPal. Thats cool. If you are still interested in helping out the film financially please feel free to send donations to

Duncan M. Rogers
Freshwater Films, LLC
PO Box 68
Maplewood, NJ 07040

make out checks to me, not the company since when we started the company we didn't set up a "business" acct. cause we knew we would lose money for the first few years.
And tell your friends that this nut you know on some message board is making a movie based on the board and give em the details.
