I apologize if this is not the right place to post this. The last time I posted under "please help" regarding this local non-profit and the next question was "Where Can I find a good Plumber?". So I didn't think the fit was there either - although I did post there again also!! So here goes:

In the last month I’ve received several “chain” emails. I actually like getting them because they’re usually from somebody I know and I’m glad to see that I’m still on their “list”. It’s kind of become like holiday cards. You know you’ve lost the “connection” when you’ve finally been cut from the list.

Unfortunately for me, I don’t have a “list”. I haven’t compiled a group of names who I could put together for any particular reason. I have a few good friends from way back, some friends in town that email seems to be the only way to connect with, family and then, of course, my husband’s network which is comprised of over 300 individuals who have run through his Career Transition Network. So for any of you who have sent me an email to pass along to my “list”, please do not be insulted that I haven’t done so. What I usually do is use it as a reason to re-connect with the original person who sent it to me.

So, it’s probably not fair that I’m asking you to use your “list” – for me. Well, it’s not really for me – but for the World Wide Orphans Foundation which was founded and is run by Dr. Jane Aronson who lives right here in Maplewood. Dr. Aronson is a pediatrician who is a specialist in international adoption. Through working with adoptive parents and the orphanages they adopt from, she advises and helps families through some of the medical and emotional challenges that are typical to international adoption.

She originally started the World Wide Orphans Foundation with a group of people she called “Orphan Rangers”. Orphan Rangers were sent out to particular orphanages to take medical and environmental evaluations which were then used to start hands-on programs that fit the particular orphanages needs. Needless to say Dr. Aronson’s programs have dramatically enhanced the lives of the children in these orphanages and eased some of the challenges presented to the parents who may adopt them. Dr. Aronson continues to build upon the network of orphanages and the programs that enrich orphaned children’s lives.

And, she’s a really nice person. I’ve gotten to know her through the Fish Market (freemansfishmarket.com) as she frequents it with her beautiful family. When I asked her what she was up to she told me to check out the WWO.org website and I was so taken by it – that I decided I just had to spread the word. Thanks so much for reading this and for checking out the World Wide Orphans website. Also – thank you in advance – for allowing me to use your “list”!! for such a worthy cause!! – Helen (Harvey)

So what I'm asking is if you would -

PLEASE SEND OUT THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE ON YOUR LIST! ASK THEM TO GO TO WWW.ORG AND IF THEY’RE INTERESTED – PLEEEAAASSE SIGN UP FOR THE NEWSLETTER. THE FOUNDATION IS IN IT’S EARLIEST STAGES SO DON’T WORRY – NOBODY WILL BUG THEM – THEY’LL JUST GET UPDATES ABOUT THE FOUNDATION AND A REALLY EXCITING FUNDRAISING “GALA” WHICH IS NOW PLANNED FOR NOVEMBER 7TH.

Hmmm... maybe the answer is to have a regular "non-profit" thread (?)
