Lets get serious about local politics. Have some cake, coffee, and conversation with your next Township Committee meeting at H2TA.

Stay tuned for more Maplewood action, Sunday, 1/23/2005, Star-Ledger. Forget those shows about Swapping Wives, Extreme Makeovers, Island Dwellers, and Wannabe Donald Trumps...

Congratulations on your exposure. Now that MOL was mentioned in the Star Ledger, we may see a small burst in new members.

Thank you, this is the idea....

Keeping our community in the news with positive and interesting press is necessary to keep the memory alive that Maplewood is still one of the best places to live in America. It sure doesn't hurt our property values either...

I can think of a few other things we need in town that would help with that image. Anyone want to guess what I'm thinking of?

Thanks AJC for posting the article. Our S-L was shredded by the town's plow yesterday. Late in the day we spied some yellow plastic sticking up from the snow pile near the street. Yup, the Ledger (actually only half the paper) which looked as though someone had tried to stuff it into a paper shredder. We could only salvage the funnies from the mess - but, that's a good thing, right?

I love watching the TC from the lazyboy myself. I think I would feel too restrained in my running commentary at your establishment.

Kudos to AJC for posting that link. It's nice to know that apathy is not a trait we encourage.

Great idea! We should keep an eye on our little sister "Ms. South Orange"...

JMFSO, Consider it done! Although we own real-estate in town, we’re really not up to date on the politics in town. We probably need some help from Professor Sbenois. He would make a great photographer, reporter, or better yet, the CCN Anchorman.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I believe I’ve also been at Bunny’s one time when they were watching a Village Trustee’s Meeting. Who knows, that might even be where we first got the idea to publicly watch the Maplewood meeting. (Them folks at Bunny’s have always been ahead of the times.)

Listen, while we're at it, I believe it was Tucker the other night who suggested that the Board of Education should meet at Maplewood Town Hall.

Now that's a meeting really worth simulcasting!

Given so few people actually even vote for members of the Board, plus the fact that they spend almost sixty percent of our property taxes every year, someone should be keeping an eye on them...

BTW, I’ll be willing to remind you about the township committee meetings Tom, but only if you promise to spend some of the time watching at H2TA. This will allow us the opportunity to pick your brain, plus, I think you’ll find the advantage of having a cup of coffee, and an open debate a lot less boring then sitting there for hours in silence.

Art,

I got your email the other day too late. I need some advance notice bubbula.

I would be happy to be a CCN anchor. As long as Dr. Stefano can be on call.

AJC:

To be successful, Tucker's (fringe on this site) suggestion has the stroke of genius.

For the first time in history, the BOE would be shown live, rather than out of context, several days later, or, not at all, due to some alledged equipment malfunction. This seems to happen frequently when the BOE has an embarassing session. I don't have an opinion on this, but believe Town Hall has much better technology. All on a municipal township budget 75% lower than the School District.

To any BOE member, poleese tell us what the audio visual budget is and why for those $'s we don't have live coverage and why are some meetings not shown? Your excuses are getting rather old.

More: The BOE would pay for these services (using town hall) lowering the Township's tax rate. Since the BOE has a budget surplus, it can easily afford this expense. Especially, since the BOE ( aka Boardies) have better communication as a primary goal.

Sorry about that... nothing like being a day late and a dollar short!

OK, you're the Anchor, but is the good doctor a South Orange resident? I'm afraid when we start showing the South Orange meetings in Maplewood, we may need an interpreter to explain how they do things over there.

BTW, what do you think about having the BOA meetings at Maplewood Town Hall?

Reflective,

As you see, good things happen when folks get together to watch and discuss what happens at our township committee meetings. I'll bet making the BOA meetings available to the public will make a big difference in the next election. We need to keep a close eye on the folks who control almost 60% of our tax dollars...
