Just like everything else in town: It will open when the doors are actually open....not when the owners, etc. "SAY it will be open"...just for example...previous posts on other threads on this same topic are pasted below: Posted on Thursday, March 2, 2006 - 1:53 pm: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today, I visited Manny at the former Blue Moon. The remodeling is just about finished and it looks great: new wood paneling, seats, etc. He hopes to open in a week or so after final b.of h. inspection. Posted on Thursday, March 2, 2006 - 2:00 pm: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I went to the former site today. A great deal of thought, effort and money has gone into making the place attractive. Manny says look for an opening in about 10 days. |

Well, the problem is with New Jersey Transit which won't allow an opening until they inspect and approve the remodeling. Manny doesn't know when but you better believe he is frustrated paying rent and interest on his loan and not a penny coming in.

I for one wll never set foot in that place. I won't use MOL to blast them but I will say that I know people involved, know what they're like and don't care for them or the place. The way I see it, there's plenty of pleces to eat, I don't mind one less |

Can anyone explain why NJT has to approve this? K_soze, since you weren't going to blast them, why bother saying what you said, you've made it sound pretty bad. If there's a real problem, share it or else don't knock these folks before they give it a go.

I agree with VG here. If you have a beef with ownership please share it with us. Heck, Manny himself might be reading this board and your comments might be constructive for him. Otherwise doesn't make too much sense to post without some sort of proof. |

It's not NJ Transit but the State of New Jersey - Department of Health. It is state property that is leased to Lokkomotive and sub-leased to the Village Diner. Since it has a kitchen, it needs to be inspected for a certificate of occupancy that includes a thorough review for proper fire safeguards. |

Pizzaz, Thanks for clearing that up, that makes sense. I thought NJT might have been worried that the aroma from the kitchen would have an impact on the trains. |

K_Soze I hope I speak for everyone else when I say, as long as the food and service are acceptable and the storefront is not an eyesore then everything else is irrelevant. Good Luck "Manny." |

I saw the inside of the diner a week ago when I was passing by the door was open. He totally re did the entire place. It looks great. Nothing remains from the Blue Moon and to me that is a good thing. I look forward to the opening. |

The information I got was from Mrs. Manny (a.k.a. Angie). She stated the problem to be with N.J. Transit acting as owners of the property. I know the New Jersey Health Department also has input into the process. It may be confusion on their part but she was clear that the problem is with transit. JC |

Vermont & Josh, my problem with them is on a personal level. There's nothing wrong with me posting that I have no desire to go there and to quote the obvious - that there's plenty of other places to eat to not be bothered about going to another/new one (for me at least). I don't have to give proof, it's just my take on it, wouldn't it be better to let you guys try it for yourselves? Like I said the issue is personal, the food may very well be great, but I don't care for the people. Kitchen,I hope I speak for everyone else when I say, as long as the food and service are acceptable and the storefront is not an eyesore then everything else is irrelevant. Maybe for you, but for me it's principle, I couldn't care how good the food may be and I know many who feel the same. |

One of my favorite things about the original Blue Moon was the fresh OJ. We used to go there often, quite a few years ago. Eventually, the juicer was "broken" and never repaired. I hope the new owners have repaired/replaced it. Does anyone know of any other places that serve fresh squeezed orange juice?

K_Soze, then express it and don't leave us hanging. Throwing around accusations without clear explanations is decidedly unfair. What's your problem with them?Let us know and maybe we will agree? Match the courage of your actions with your words. |

k- Well if you have a 'personal problem' with them please keep it to yourself. It's obvious whatever happened between you and Manny has made you angry. But, since it has nothing to do with the diner he's opening in town or his food what is the purpose of your comments? Sounds like you have a case of sour grapes. For what it's worth, my brother in law knows the family opening the new diner and from what I've been told they are very decent people. If you have a problem with Manny it might be better for you to give him a call. Try to workout whatever happened. But it isn't nice to trash the man's business on a public message board without giving a reason. |

John Joel- Is it 'Manny' or 'Gus?' Brothers or partners maybe? I can't wait to try the new diner. I have fond memories of going there with a family friend who was like a grandmother to me at least once a month. We'd also go to Grunnings at least once a month. The Blue Moon just didn't do it for me. I likethe Parkwood in Maplewood, but it would be nice to have a decent diner here in town. |

Somehow I missed this. The new owners are the same folks that run Manny's Texas Weiners. This is great news. Great diner food will be in walking distance soon. Don't know any of the parties, but Manny's Texas Weiners is one of my favorite local establishments. I thought the improvements looked very good and now I'm not at all surprised by their quality. This made my month on the SO development front. |

A guy invited me in about three weeks ago, told me his name is Gus, that he is family of Manny, that NJT had to inspect, was coming the following Tuesday, and, in my opinion, the inside was much more comfortable looking than in prior lives. Maybe his name is Gus, maybe Harry Callahan, maybe. jd |

Know what though Joel? As long as the food is yummy and service good, I don't think it's going to matter what the owner's names are. At least to me it won't matter. |
