Did anybody catch Calabrese asking (while laughing) whether he "had to vote in favor of Bunnnys' annual application for a liquor license?" And then, after all of the Trustees voted in favor of all the other applications, Stacey proceeded to actually vote against the issuance of such a license to Bunnys? |

I don't suppose she gave any reason? (I'll keep my eyes open when I get around to watching the tape) |

Also, does anyone know what her "conflict of interest" is pertaining to one of the appointments last night that forced her to abstain from voting. I believe it was for the appointment of pool staff? |

I couldn't believe my ears! It was Junior High revisited. Without any valid reason, she maligned Bunny's as an establishment worthy of license renewal. It was most likely a breach of her professional duties as a trustee. I was shocked and appalled. |

Perhaps her reason has something to do with the 'demographics' of Bunny's? She is so unbelievable. |

Perhaps it was Pizzaz's comment on another thread? Pizzaz There is plenty left to see. The incident needs to be fully disclosed. We haven't heard an official account of the situation that entails a homicide in our village. Was it robbery at the liquor store, or a bad drug deal that took its business to the afro hair salon? I think we all have a right to know. Oh, and Stacey if this is the changing demographics you refer to - then you can certainly kiss my white •••. |

It is well known that Calabrese is hostile toward the Pogany's because they often have challenged his shenanigans. He called for the police to arrest John Pogany recently because he applauded during the BOT meeting (other times when people have applauded he didn't stop them). But his spiteful remark last night in public showed how his distorted personal feelings and corrupt interests govern his presidency. As for Stacey Jenning's vote no surprise here; every time she opens her mouth she says something stupid that shows her ignorance. She has taken the SID issue so personal - for whatever reason - that in her defense for it she sounds utterly incongruous. But hey, these are the people we chose to govern us! We deserve them.

I would certainly hope that it was for "other" reasons that pizzaz's post. Believe me, I don't want there to be "other reasons" any more than anyone else, but more importantly, I certainly do not want to think that one of our elected officials is making their votes for our village, personal.... they should be above this. |

Jennings is out of control. Last night she also had the nerve to laugh while Dan Goldberg was questioning why the Village lost a $40,000 Grant. I didn't realize there was something funny about that. |

I didn't see that part of the meeting, whether she abstained or voted my comment stands. Voting should be done on an objective basis, personal issues/beliefs etc should not come into it. Probably hard in some circumstances, but that's all part of the job. |

Soparents, You are a dreamer of you believe what you just wrote. All our elected officials are there to satisfy their egos or their pockets or both. In the process, anyone who stands in their way becomes an obstacle to eliminate in whatever way possible. Pizzaz challenged Stacey to kiss his white derriere, Trustee Jennings votes to not renew his liquor license. It's called tit-for-tat. So there. |

Soparents, Sorry, but my response was a bit of sarcasm in response to JTA's comment about "demographics". I doubt that Stacey abstained because of his callous comments. However, it would interesting to know the reasoning. |

No apology needed..... I'm not a dreamer I am a realist, but one with hope. I know that there is never going to be a total solution to every problem... I'm not as vocal as some others. I'm not surrounded by facts and figures, I don't have the recall of BOT meetings some 5 years ago, but I admire ANYONE I see stand up for this town. I didn't hear Jennings laugh and someone was sitting in front of me so I couldn't see her, but then I heard Mr.Goldberg ask her is she found something funny... I don't understand that there could be any instance when losing 40K that was within our grasp and then gone, could be funny.. phenixrising - i'd like to know the reason too.

"All our elected officials are there to satisfy their egos or their pockets or both." While I'm not sure this is 100% true, it is true enough to be disturbing. This problem is not unique to South Orange, of course, but we want to do our best to address it here. What would it take to break this cycle? Candidates would need to step forward who: o Want to serve the public (in the truest sense of the word), and are not looking for power or money in the process (Ask not what South Orange can do for you...); o Are skilled in the arts of negotiation and consensus building; o Have the time to devote to this; o Do not have material conflicts of interest; o Are electable (i.e., haven't alienated one half of town or the other, and if they have run before, did not get trounced); o Have the resources and the stomach and the personality to campaign effectively. It's going to be hard to find 3 BOT candidates + 1 VP candidate with all six attributes, but the way to break this cycle of incompetence is to change the individual thinking on the Board about what it means to be a Trustee, by installing those who "get it". It seems self-evident. But how do we get there?

You actually have to find these people and then get a huge group behind them. Your last election had what? 7 people running? THere were too many fragmented factions. So the result was Calabrese's group got elected plus Eric. Go into the election unified. Get a grass roots thing going. Door to door kind of thing. Educate the voters. Be unified and get the word out on the street. Now git. |

Stacey did laugh at Dan's question about the grant, and she interrupted me when I asked if any merchants in town actually supported the SID. That's what prompted me to ask the trustees to treat citizens with respect instead of interrupting and ridiculing them. |

Here is the video clip of both Calabrese & Jennings mocking the liquor license for Bunny's. Watch at the end, where Calabrese even says "I hear they water down the liquor" and then giggles like a schoolgirl when he realized the microphone & camera are on. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45e92zemoEM I hope Bunny's takes legal action against them personally for slander. |

Great 2 step by Trustee Rosen when a citizen asked about 'the hole' created by the lack of (tax revenue) caused by the painfully slow process at the downtown sites where older buildings had been demolished. The question pushed towards - "why are we spending any $ on non-essential items (such as the sculpture) when the schools, village hall & library are in need of repair and we spend $ on fancy curbs, etc." Great point by a concerned citizen and typical brush off and dismissal by a trustee! |

Calabrese's comments on tape are outrageous. Bunny's should file a law suit against Calabrese for defamation, slander, and abuse of governmental powers. This action of him in public shows the contempt he has for the community, and the corruption that power has bred in him. He thinks of himself as untouchable. He must be removed. Here is a chance to do it. |

Holy stupidity! That whole process seemed like a joke to him. And for the record, I've never felt that any martini I have had there has been watered down. Maybe poured short but always made up for the HUGE (and when I say huge I mean bathtub size big) next one ordered. Good luck with what happens next. Maybe this will be the final nail in the coffin. |

Spitz, Not sure if you are simply trying to get more people to watch the video, but in fairness, Calabrese's comment IS still there in living color. (The video is hosted on a 3rd party site so it will not disappear. However, it'll be interesting to see if it is removed from the Village website) |

Memo to Bill and the BOT from a concerned citizen: You should not be dissing ANY viable business in this town---especially one the sits directly across South Orange Avenue from an EMPTY lot (Beifus) and an EMPTY Crackhouse (TBD Garden of Eden Store). Bunny's is a vibrant, viable establishment which provides a great local personality, feel and culture for this town. Please try and get something, anything constructive done. We're looking at a hefty tax increase next year---I'm new to this town but can already tell that folks are getting pissed. Irresponsible comments on televised BOT meetings about our businesses does not help your cause. Try to bring this town together---not divide it---is that possible? |

Staurt- I know of at least 2 people who would fit what you listed. One of whom I know is interested. I also know there is a group of people quietly working on getting a team together to run. Something I might want to suggest - IF there are people interested in taking back our town, someone needs to set up a private message board, on yahoo perhaps. Only those willing to use their real names would be allowed to join the group. This way current members of the BOT will not know what the game plan is... |

crabby- I agree with you we need to take actin! There is one segment of the population people have to make more aware of what's happening. The senior citizens! I'm willing to be a good number of them living in the building by the library use Bill to fill their prescriptions. Do you think they ever hear the other side? No. I doubt many of them go to or watch the BOT meetings. And even less are on MOL. If you get the seniors voting for new people they might have a better chance of ousting the incumbents. |
