I reiterate that disgusting fits and coward does not!

Hey betty-spaghetti, how about someone says "you can kiss my fat ?" Just as an example, of course.

That leads to the rationale that they have bias against skinny people everywhere?

Makes total sense, doesn't it? Not.

That comment was made after a gang-related murder that happened a block away from the police department (and I in no way hold them accountable for what happened that day and commend them for their quick and admirable response) at about 4 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. Within 100 feet of a park and playground. A lot of citizens were really affected by that, many (like me) native-born or early transplants.

This is why online debate doesn't work. Body language accounts for more than 90 percent of human interaction/communication. The horror of that day is still with me and I think about it every time I'm in the area.

Thank you SOFD, SOPD, and SODPW. You are all heroes to me.

I do know how much time and effort my father puts into trying to improve the community which he holds so close to his heart. I also will say that I know him better then anyone else who claims to make assumptions on the kind of person he truly is. He is in NO WAY a racist. He is a wonderful father, a loving husband, and a good person. This isn't open for public opinion. I am stating a fact.

I also agree with PP and SOParents and JTA and Bets, the Poganys are truly wonderful people. That does not mean that what Pizzaz said is appropriate or acceptable --it is not. However, there is a world of difference between what is said by a (supposedly anomyous) persona on a message board and what a public offical says at at public meeting.

And PLEASE, for the record, Jennings only abstained after she was given the choice to do so or vote no. That was many minutes after her orginal statement, loosely quoted: all, except Leslie whatever...which she said with a dismissive wave of her hand. The look on her face when Matthews asked her whether it was absention or "nay" was priceless - first she twisted her face and then, perhaps reason took over, and she said, again loosely quoted - abstain, I guess.

Can you imagine what would happen in the United States today if negative personal feelings were allowed to influence votes? Or even cause absentions? Very little would ever get done. Contrary to what some people think, it is really not acceptable. I believe that if we were to search for precedent, we would not find it. As Miss Manners would say, "It's simply not done".

Just so it doesn't get lost in this wordy post, I'll say it again. Leslie and John are great, caring people and I am proud to know them.

Great defense, Matt Foley, on Tuesday, July 11, 2006 at 10:56 pm.

You are a gentleman. As in, gracious, alert, good-hearted, heroic lifeguard.

From that post, few would ever know you keep a croquet mallet in check somewhere. Except for the one they have as well.

Isn't it best to publicly bury the hatchet, and move on?
I suggest a hatchet be buried in......Mount Beifus, at its highest peak.
And then they dance cheek to cheek.
Each of the protagonists has improving the Village at heart.
I don't think they agree all the time.
But, so what!

For the record, a letter/ email was sent to Mr. Bill Calabrese on his comments that he made that night from me. I am sure he got it but of course there was no response. No apology. He also seemed completely dumbfounded by the fact that it was brought up at the board meeting.

PrettyPrincess,

I hope that letter was delivered in hardcopy (not just email) as Calabrese has said many time he does not read email.

However, Calabrese's claim on Monday that he had no idea what he said & his non-apology were a further insult to your Mother and everyone in this town.

You have got to be kidding me. Now you're complaining because someone wrote a letter to the Village President? Would either of you (Erin or Glock) have made the comments you did if it was not John Pogany's wife's business and his daughter? Of course not. You know it, and we all know it. You don't like John. Fine. We get it. Try to see past your personal dislike. You're actually telling someone that she should not stick up for her family? You're both pitiful.

I took it upon MYSELF bc of my outrage at this whole situation. It is completely wrong anyway you look at it. THIS WAS AN OFFICIAL TOWN MEETING. I am an adult and capable of voicing my thoughts/ opinions just as you seem to do on this board.

RASTRO -- YES! I think several people have said they (John or Leslie) need to handle this themselves.

Noelle -- Never said they were telling you to do this... Just expressing that I do not think you will get much traction. You father ran for a seat on the board. Not you. He needs to handle this -- especially since it was confirmed that much of what happen was a result of something he did. And can we show a little maturity by posting something without bunnies? If Bunny's has been here as long as everyone says it has, I highly doubt your mother is the original Bunny. (Either that or she looks pretty good for her age!)

You might think that other people have said that, but you seem to be the one saying that Noelle should not voice her opinion or contact the VP. Perhaps her parents are doing their own thing, but your comments are based solely on your dislike for John and all things associated with him.

What exactly did John do that make it ok for the Village President to make inflammatory comments like he did in a public meeting. You seem to be confusing what Jennings did and what Calabrese did. They are on two completely different planes. Are you actually saying that John brought these nasty comments, from a public official acting in a public capacity, on himself? You think what Calabrese said was justified? Are you not bothered by the fact that the VP, in a public forum, slammed a local business for no reason?

I stand by my comment that your reaction is pitiful.

Nope, I stand by my post at the end of June saying it was wrong. I also do not think the VP's comments are justified by ANYTHING John or his wife have done. But if you look back Noelle's initial reaction was to what JENNINGS said not the VP. Now it is the VP. I think she is too emotionally involved for ANY GOOD to come out of her efforts. She means well but, in the end, she is wrong to get involve. This is between her parents and the VP.

I believe you and I are on the same page on this one Rastro. I stated at the end of June that though I publicly admit a dislike for the Pogany's this was not warranted. We would both like the same conclusion; we just disagree on the methods.....

Then perhaps you can explain why you think Noelle should basically keep her mouth shut about this. Why shouldn't she defend her family? Are you saying that if your family's business were maligned, that you wouldn't defend it?

Noelle -- See your post of June 28th below....

This type of abuse is unacceptable. It is abuse in every way. The owners of Bunny's are wonderful, loving, family- oriented people. To throw out snickers and laugh about their business which they work SO HARD for is completely unreal. The obnoxious woman who laughed and said "Leslie SNR-- whatever..." which was then followed by snickers and humor may not have realized what SNR stands for. SNR are the initals of the 3 children of Leslie, her and heart and soul. She is actually a human with feelings and a FAMILY. This factor was not taken into account, instead it was a sick joke on the board. It really makes me sick. Everyone should be outraged.

The leadership in South Orange is a reflection of the entire Village. This is not solely a Leslie/John issue...

When my Village President thinks it's okay to make inflammatory statements towards a local establishment, I take issue with that and I would hope most of you would as well.

I am no different than you: A citizen publishing his or her comments/opinions on a message board..... I have has much right to say what I want -- (as long as it is opinion or fact) -- as you do to post bunnies.....

Again you are meaning well BUT ARE TOO EMOTIONALLY ATTACHED TO THE SUBJECT MATTER.... You should not take it as an attack that I do not think the daughter of the offended party should be logding the first written protest......

Pretty Princess, I completely understand your stance and what you've said - you seem perfectly rational and composed in my opinion. Clearly you have every right to post what you have, and for anyone to suggest that you "shouldn't" is beyond ridiculous. I have a feeling that if it were their family being mocked and maligned by our elected representatives they'd be singing a different tune.

Frankly, this is none of my business, but I took the time to post this b/c you are clearly upset and I thought it might help to know there are readers who do support you even though we don't have much else to add and otherwise wouldn't post.
