I heard a rumor!!!! The South Orange Firehouse will not be completed until the South Orange Performing Arts Center is up and running. Does that sound right? I dont think so. This town has to get it's priorities straight. What's more important, keeping our town entertained or keeping our town safe from the threat of fire. I don't mean to go off on a rant but....What's going on at Village Hall? Do you think it's right that the South Orange Police Dept. is understaffed and working in a town that neighbors Newark, Orange, East Orange, and Irvington? Do you think it's right that the South Orange Fire Dept. is understaffed, living in trailers, and waiting for their Historic Firehouse to be completed? Do you think it's right that South Orange DPW is understaffed and sleeping on mouse-infested, hand-me-down furniture during snow storms, and wind storms, and rain storms? But I guess it's right that our town's Administrator can provide himself with a 25% raise over the next five years. I guess it's right that he will receive paid hospitalization upon retirement. I suppose it's right that our trustees are now paid and our Village Administrator has a stipulation in his contract (a guarantee) to be the highest paid South Orange Employee. Enjoy the Arts Center, folks. But when crimes are committed, or houses are burning, or streets aren't plowed, you know who to blame. |

Parrot Head, Who cares about those things when you could have a movie theater with no parking, or a pile of dirt where a business could be, or a large abandoned building where a supermarket could be? |

I wonder what a thread about a new toy store has to do with your firehouse problem. If you must whine and carry on,please do it on your own thread. |

I don't know Parrot, is this just happy talk to cover up the indirect insult a few months ago? You got some stuff on your nose. |

Hey Parrot Head, who are you going to dump on next? The Rescue Squad? The Jespy kids? Crossing guards? You should think about something else to do with your foot, instead of kicking "the bee-hive". open up! |

PARROT HEAD, one week you like the SOPD and SOFD and the next you trash them. I believe you are the one that said the DPW does 90% of the work in town. If that is the case maybe you should get to work on the Fire House and on your break you could patrol the town and maybe pick up the leaves sitting in front of my house since Nov.

Nora, I don't think Parrot Head is complaining about the SOPD or the SOFD, I think he is complaining about the town administration. However, I don't have the special cracker jacks decoder ring showing me his real message, I can only read what he writes. While I don't always agree with Mr. Parrot Head, I think he has a good point this time. Maybe the town should put more effort forward on the SOPD, SOFD, and DPW, and less effort into things it doesn't need, like a movie theater. (Or at least prioritize.) |

While we are just posting about whatever we feel on this thread. I'd like to take a moment to tell everyone how much I disslike We Got Movies. Poor selection, poor service, poor location, poor prices, poor poor poor. This all started when I ran up a late tab of $45.25 ten years ago. I decided rather than pay for my stupidity, I simply transferred blame to them. Without any real reason. PS: I have a problem with Blockbuster Video too. They seem to think they are entitled to recoup monies from me as well. hahahahahahahah! |

Matt, I'm not sure whether to take your post at face value, but here goes. I don't mind (too much) feeling dumb in boosting IMHO a great local business. Our family LOVES We Got Movies. They have great selection of what we're looking for and sometimes they even go out and buy a film because we show an interest in it. We only go to Blockbuster for games or the occasional brand new release. Great service including knowledgeable opinions and recommendations if you want them. Easy location with parking. What could be better than $2.50 for 2 days? We love them all. to Janet, David, Moe, the guy who fixed my VCR for free whose name I can't ever remember, and all the other staff, too. |

We Got Movies is aweful. The only selection they have is of 80's cartoons and pornography. The prices are good, but I don't think the low prices are worth not getting the movie you want to see. The last time I was there they didn't have my first 3 choices. So, instead of choosing a different 4th pick, I went to blockbuster and got my first pick. |

mjc-I too enjoy We Got Movies. I was merely making a point to Parrot about posting on threads containing subject matter relevant to their titles. ie; "Floods Hill is Tall" which would contain info. and opinions about Floods Hill and not say Town Hall Deli. I guess I got carried away. no harm intended. Mayor- "80's Porno Cartoons" why does your post remind me of the Different Strokes episode with Arnold,Dudley, and the Bike Shop guy. |

May I suggest the next time you rent from WE GOT MOVIES ask for Vinny/Vanessa top movie picks. This local movie critic will suggest the movie you're looking for. Vinny or Vanessa(for some people) is skilled in the art of cinema entertainment and customer satisfaction( I know from expierence) . Vinny/Vanessa made a name for himself in the early eighties performing interpretive dance with the likes of Melba Moore from the t.v. show "Fame" and Columbia High graduate Antwane Toe. The Cameo theatre in Newark was a stepping stone for V/V talent that he shares with all of us today. |
