Or better yet, just go over and arrest all Seton Hall students now. Be proactive.

Anyway, I think responding to noise complaints is an excellent use of our police department's time. I'm sure the officers agree, and they wouldn't be interested in exploring any other options.

Cmonty- Police Officers don't get to choose whether or not to go when residents call about loud parties and other noise issues. By issuing tickets the first time, they are able to alleviate the need to go back repeatedly. The premise is a sound one, and by setting the tone at the beginning of each school year they actually reduce the overall number of calls and tickets.

That's being proactive, sarcasm aside.

the college gets info on all incidents regarding seton hall students whether or not this task force is involed, they always have and for the most part do what they can to adjust the behavior of their students.

That's not what I've been told by the SOPD nor by the administration at SHU. Are there records kept regarding this?

I appreciate the willingness of the university to try to help the situation and am disappointed by the negative vibe on this thread that sounds likes some prefer to put SO under "martial law."

BTW - the number to the TASK FORCE HOTLINE is 973-412-6856.

It looks like Line C is trying to reposition Paul to represent the renters. I think I heard Howard say he was on the rent leveling board. That would seem to give him the experience and understanding as well on those issues.

Just went to Howard's site from his reference on the above thread. I found on his Bio that he has civic experience by being on the Rent Leveling board.

Paul should speak with Howard. Paul is positioning to be a "voice" for the renters in town. Howard has the experience in being the "ears".

I see that John Pogany has now posted his SHU Opening Remarks as well: http://www.johnpogany.com/shu.php

In addition, his statement from the GRASP meeting is now online: http://www.johnpogany.com/grasp.php

I see that David Belasco has similarly updated his website: http://www.votebelasco.org/events.html

The so-called "Village Independents" are still "Coming Soon".

MHD --

I'm just wondering -- the hesitation or delay in the Village Independenst website -- do you think they've pretty much "written off" this *fringe* element or segment of South Orangers? (those of us online )

They may be putting their resources other places rather than even bother with what I bet they perceive as an already biased audience.

..just a hypothesis...

/p

Pete,

I'd hardly call users of the Internet a "biased audience"

Let's just say that the "Village Independents" badly mismanaged their first task (getting a website) which has caused the delay. I expect you will be seeing a professionally designed site by Jamie in the next week or so.

Don't forget that the Campaign Manager of the "Village Independents" slate is David Bressen. The same David Bressen serving today as "Assistant to the President", an official non-paid position created by Bill Calabrese. The same David Bressen who for ten years was over-seeing the "progress" of the SOPAC project, and is now serving in the SOPAC board of Trustees appointed by Bill Calabrese.

With such Campaign Manager do you really expect any progress for the slate other than "Coming Soon" signs?

The slate's strategy is obvious:

"we don't know zilch of what the Village is all about; let's see what the other candidates highlight as issues, let's see how their websites look like, let's wait for the party-line coming down to us from Calabrese, Taylor and Bressen, and then act accordingly."

If they don't get their act together, Terriann Moore-Abrams will drop off the slate because of "bad management" (that was her excuse for dropping off the first slate she joined) and join another one, whichever, as long as it helps her career.

They are a sad joke,

In defense of them not really putting up a website, not everyone in society has jumped into the internet just yet...Maybe they are focusing elsewhere...where I don't really know but maybe?

Real progressive mindset.

Next we'll see panel trucks driving through the village with bullhorns to promote their message.

Well, maybe it's the beginning of a site!!! They list their 'qualifications' very vague (a couple of paragraphs) about the 'problems' in the Village; but I don't see any concrete ways they intend to fix them.
