Does anyone know who the campaign managers are for all of the candidates and could they please post their names? Thanks. |

Can we move this out of the Seton Hall thread? It's not a SHU election, it's a South Orange election. Maybe Dave can set up a topic for the elections? |

Singlemalt, in response to your question, I'll be glad to satisfy your curiosity. I feel very honored to have as my Campaign Manager Ms Robin Gray. She is listed as such in my website, and on all my campaign literature. Robin loves South Orange. She has earned the respect of our community through her hard work over many years, as the chair of the Promotions Committee of Main Street South Orange. She brought in the very successful S.O. Antiques Show which ran in town for two years, she is the initiator of many downtown events such as the Winter and Spring Festivals, the Lunch-time Concerts, etc. Robin is a person who has done a lot for our community, I am grateful to her for accepting to manage my campaign and to be my mentor. As for the second part of Singlemalt's question, I know that Robin's motherhood duties do not allow her the luxury of reading or writing on MOL. Eric |

pete - I think Howard was being modest. His campaign manager is the guy pictured under Howard's name. |

User error when posting earlier. My campaign manager is my son Adam. Adam grew up in South Orange and is a successful product of the South Orange/Maplewood school system. He lives in nearby Florham Park and maintains ties to the community with local friends and family. |

Since this thread is about Seton Hall - I just saw the following article about endorsements from Seton Hall Student Leaders on Howard's website: http://howard-levison.com/SHU_Endorsement.pdf Congratulations - Eric, Howard & John! |

Thanks for letting us know this MHD. It allows me to either change my votes or not vote at all. Sorry John, Eric and Howard. I have a hard time voting for anyone who gives so much attention to SHU. It's about SOUTH ORANGE. Not a bunch of college students. |

Taylor M, I suggest that maybe you be more constructive in your posts. Eric, Howard & John are wonderful individuals who CARE about ALL of South Orange including the students at SHU who want to be apart of a greater community. Furthermore, instead of coming online and posting nonsense - why not be proactive, get involved, fix relationships with SHU, etc? You're a lot of talk on this message board from what I've seen in past threads but no action whatsoever... Vote for whoever or whatever it is that you think is right for S.O. And as much as I hate to sound like a fortune cookie, I have two lessons for you. 1) Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it 2) If you're not part of a solution, you're part of the problem. Again, feel free to contact me personally at collumsh@shu.edu to address all this hostility you have towards Seton Hall and its students. Dare to Care Taylor M? I'm sure you're a stellar individual and I would be honored to work with you!

Sheena- Give me a break. Instead of coming online and posting nonesense? Hello!!! I know at least 2 dozen people who post on MOL who agree with me, but are afraid to say so publically. How do you know what 'action' I take or don't take? I happen to be a graduate of SHU, and still believe SHU should DO MORE for South Orange, not the other way around. Do you plan to live in South Orange (off campus) when you graduate? I'm betting you don't. I've lived here ALL MY LIFE.

Taylor M, You're quite the character and I encourage you to tell your 2 dozen MOL friends to post their feelings. Honesty is the best policy. If there are so many problems, we MUST address them. Building up anti-SHU feelings is counterproductive. We can't fix something we don't know is broken. Graduate of SHU? Wonderful! Come join our Alumni Association and help us figure out ways to address these concerns you have. Perhaps my speculations are wrong and you are an empowered individual who is making change one day at a time. If that is the case, keep up the good work! I wish you could share that energy with SHU. I believe SHU should do a lot more for S.O. and I'd be happy to share with you some of my proposals which include token donations. In the same regard, it takes two to tango and I don't want the students to be left without a date. Common Taylor M! Let's be friends and reform this long overdue process! Live in South Orange off campus in the future? Are you kidding me? I heart South Orange. The community members, the civic groups, etc. are fantastic. You may have to be bereft of my presence for a few years of law school but bet your bottom dollar I'll be back. Also, one other thing that may be of interest to you. Though I personally endorse A-D-E along with many other students, you should have come to our Meet the Candidates to hear what all the other candidates said. They were all very PRO-SETON HALL!!!!

Sheena - the animosity you encounter comes from people who resent the 52 acres of tax-free land, the students who drink in the village but not shop, and the perception that the University does not care what the students do off-campus (ie: fights and loud parties). Not enough is said about the benefits of having the University in South Orange - like all the programs, plays and concerts the community could enjoy - like the fact that anyone in town as well as any student in the district may use the library - like senior citizens in town can audit courses. When people say that SHU could do more, most of them mean that they want more money. I'd like to see SHU donate more funds to the sercices they use too. But I'd also like to see residents of the community take advantage of the wonderful things that SHU offers. |

Including use of the gym and pool, which most of the time are empty of or significantly under-utilized by students/faculty, suggesting they both could be easily made available for community use (given all the other things the community pays for for SHU through our taxes) |

When MOL was named in a frivolous lawsuit I contacted SHU's Center for Social Justice and never received a reply. EFF replied. ACLU replied. Democracy.org replied. An attorney from Wisconsin replied. An attorney from Princeton replied. Not all were able to be of direct help, but they replied with ideas and leads. SHU only wants to be good neighbors on their own terms and that's the real problem. I'm glad SHU is now finding good use for MOL, but they may want to re-evaluate how they conduct publicity in a manner that conveys more seriousness about being in it long-term and finding more equitable ways to offset the public services the Village provides the Seton Hall community. |
