I was in the Gaslight all of once, when it first opened. The smell was so bad I had to leave. Too bad Ryan's closed down. |

Joe...the owner of any restaurant or business in a small or a big town should treat the customer with respect. You really should not group other restaurants in our town with the brewery. They are and have been since the day they opened nasty. The food is as bad. They do not welcome children and make it obvious. I is amazing that they have survived all these years. I wish I knew how they do it. |

Oh, what the hell? GSB sucks. Cryan's is not what it used to be. Life needs Ireland. Let me recommend Collins's pub in Adare village outside Limerick... It's everything that GSB would like to be--- great ambiance, very good food, companionable atmosphere for a drink or two, and great local music on Thursday evenings. If you're lucky, you'll run into some of my family as well. |

I agree with JRG The Gaslight in not a good restaurant. Every time I have been and that's been very few with long periods in between my visits. Because I forgot how bad the service is and the food is over priced and not good at all. Now I'm remembering that I do not like the Gaslight's food, staff, service and that it is over priced. I have not been back for about 6 months and I do not ever plan on go back ever. I love St. James Gate. The food is excellent and the prices are great. I wish South Orange a place as good a St. James Gate Pub. |

For such an unpopular restaurant, seems like a lot of people have been there. I poked my head in a few nights ago (not on a weekend) and the dining area was packed. I guess the old saying is true: it's better to be talked about than not talked about. |

Or, as Yogi said: "Nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded." |

I went to the Gaslight once and only once. I had my small infant with me. The wait staff was very helpful in getting his car seat situated and was very good at ooing and ahing over him. Then, I went to nurse him before we ordered so he would sleep through the meal and was told "you can't do that here". Please go to the bathroom. I informed the waiter that this is against the law and then left. I don't eat in the bathroom, why should my baby? We took a copy of the law to the owner the next day and he got very upset with us. Told us he didn't want our business etc. I understand that some places just aren't appropriate for kids, and I would have never taken my toddler there, but a quietly sleeping infant? Grrrrr Still makes me mad! It was my first time out since he was born. |

There must be some kid-friendly breweries out there somewhere. Maybe Traprock? |

My memory is that Traprock is quite upscale, and doesn't have highchairs or any kid friendly food...they were kind enough to our toddler a few years ago, but weren't really set up for kids. Anyone have more recent knowledge, or other brewpubs to suggest within a 30 minute drive? |

Do not look for excuses the brewery is a horrible place the story Carol has told I have heard from other moms. The customer is not respected there plain and simple. We all have choices... Asking a mother to feed her child in the bathroom is disguisting. |

Please see my post in the Arts/Entertaining/Dining thread... not every restaurant in the world has to welcome children. Get over it. |

welcoming children and being nasty and rude are two different issues and we do live in a community full of families. It is a brew pub not the Four Seasons. |

Some brewpubs are child friendly and want business from whole families...Others are not. Individual business owners reserve the right to run their business however they like...If they are in negative opinion for business decisions by some, others might hold it in regard. I have friends who never had children, and cannot stand eating in the company of young children...so if the place doesn't cater to your needs, then move on and find another place...Thats whats nice about this part of NJ there are hundreds of local eateries within 20 minutes. |

Old & Gray - Agree with everything you said, but you have completely missed the point of this thread. This is not a about not being kid friendly.... it's about not being customer friendly. |

In keeping with the current thread drift. Why would you want to take your kid to a BREWERY!!!!! I know it's still tres pop (micro-brew resteraunts) But, one should save such outings for adults only night. Try kid friendly Joe's American Bar & Grill,Legal Seafood,Bunny's,Toro Loco type places. GASLIGHT STILL SUCKS |

joes is a 90 min wait all the time and in the mall and legal seafood is in the mall. toro loco even in the restaurant gets clouds of smoke from the bar. Bunnys a good choice. GLB is hardly a brewery. It is a neighborhood restaurant that makes some lousy beer. And I do not think anyone wants to go there. The problem is as a town resident you like to support local businesses and they crap on you there! That is the issue here. |
