Well, I hate the new look. I'm sure I will adjust some, but it's way too webified for me. I get dizzy just scanning the page. |

And what the heck are Junior and Senior members? And do we really need to be able to vote on each others posts?

A lot of the look and what's on the page can (and will) be customized. My main concern is with load issues and keeping it running. Unfortunately, changing the look is an enormously time-consuming process, which I learned yesterday. "Junior" / "Senior" ... members... is based on post volume. The titles are the default titles. I'd like to change them, but haven't had time to think about it yet. The voting may stay or go. As for "Registered" date, it appears that the May-2001 is the earliest it goes back, which is not correct, but that's an issue for another day. I'm also looking into activating profiles without Names or Email addresses, but with Private Messaging and other options available for those who'd like to share more. |

Thanks for the feedback. I realize it's a big job and that there are certainly good reasons (probably especially back end) for doing an upgrade. Hoping when the dust settles--and other folks weigh in--that the interface can be tweaked a bit. Jr/Sr. have to get new titles.} |

Search taken offline until additional RAM is installed (should be today). Another part of this supposedly fun thing that I'll never do again (upgrade a message board) is putting the search indices into a database; but first I have to upgrade perl and add perl::dbi (whatever that may be). |

To add to your list, I am able to create a thread in the Virtual Cafe, however, I can not post an image in it. In addition, the post count does not increment, nor does the Topics page update that I have posted since Hank. Testing in the Tech Support area confirms that I can post images and attachment of images there. Have fun!

Instead of "Junior" and "Senior", how about "Newbie" and "Njjoseph"? |

Maybe Dave will consider replacing "Apprentice" with "Padawan" |

Now that the new messages function is up is there anyway to set it up so that all the folders open. Its very slow having to open each one (will things speed up once the upgrade is more settled?) By the way, this looks great so don't let my nit picking detract from your hard work. |

Ashear, I tweaked it to expand messages if there are fewer than 100 results. |

I don't see it (New Messages) Also, this is another thread that seems to be inviting non-registered posters. Is that intentional? |

Go to Search | Search by Date -- it's the 2nd radio button down. I'm updating posting privileges on a topic by topic basis. Almost done. |

Here's an odd one. I've gotten into the habit of clicking on a thread and selecting "open in new window". When I do this on the new system, the text in the new window has a black background (which is a perfect match for the black text, and makes everything completely unreadable). If I then close that new window and do the same thing again, the window is just fine and perfectly readable. Any ideas on this one, Oh Dave? |
