No, I'm not crazy.

On my screen, the links are different colors, the forum page has different, brighter colors, the button bars on this page are white-on-black...

The color of the links is just a tad pale - eyestrain-inducing, IMHO. Are you still fine-tuning the redecorating, Dave, or is this it?

It really is a bit too light and not contrasty enough. Or is it that we are just used to the old scheme?

Whatever Jamie's motives or your spin on them, I like the OLD color scheme better, FWIW.

-s.

BTW: If you really want to improve the board, Jamie, do something to make "Last Day" search load faster and more completely. Do that and I won't care WHAT colors you choose...

Blame me. (Previous earthtones were soooo 2004)

Still fine tuning. I agree about link colors.

(To watch tweaks in progress, they start on the main topic page. Then, as people post the templates re-write active pages.)

Wait wait wait, I get it. The blue was close to the blue color in the Israeli flag -- so that was your homage to Hanukkah right? And now, the deep cranberry red -- truly a Christmas color! Leave it to Dave to be so subtly inclusive!

Dave,
As I mistakenly wrote to Jamie in an email, my two cents, for what it's worth:

I like the new colors fine (red links), but now my computer doesn't change the color of a link after it's used (blue to green), and I can't tell what's been read and what's new.

Also, I suggest that it would be easier to see what is a new post by placing the threads in reverse order, so that the new messages would be at the top of the screen, and a person would scroll down to see earlier posts.

I know you get paid BIG BUCKS from people like me for doing this.
If there would be a way to "tip" you, please know that I would do so.

Have a lovely and blessed holiday season!
Claire Simon

Dave, please say there WILL be a color distinction between read and unread again. I'm begging here.

cheers (and thanks as always)-

Yes, and all the threads in a topic say "NEW" even though the thread is old.

Am I seeing things? THere was a different color this morning than now?

Well ... I posted somewhere else on this before seeing it here. I'm with the folks who liked it better before. I'm OK with new colors, but we need to be able to tell what we have and have not read!

Dave:

Is there any way you could introduce the feature which has the link color on the menu page changing after it has been clicked on? Then we would be able to tell when new posts have been made to a thread since we last read it.

Also, could the brightness be turned down a bit? The resulting glare is hard on the eyes.

I disagree with Claire's point about listing posts with the most recent post first. It is very confusing to follow the continuity of a thread by reading backwards.

I liked the initial change in colors. Now though the messages are extremely hard to read: the black lines of the sentences seem like they are running into each other. Just me or did something change again?

Wendy,
Can you elaborate a bit more? I'm not sure what "black lines of the sentences seem like they are running into each other" means.

The colors evolved throughout the day; the initial ones, which looked good to me at 2:30am last night were difficult for some to read because of low contrast.

I must be really tired. I really meant that the lines of words are almost are on top of each other. For example in the post you just posted the two "fs" in "difficult" are touching the "h" in the word "throughout" on the above line. I'll try to copy and paste what I'm seeing in a message to you.

Dave, I can send you a print screen of what I'm seeing but it seems to work only in outlook not in a private line to you. Send me your email address and I'll send you what I'm seeing.

I'm not seeing the problem Wendy notes. But the difference between links that have or have not been already viewed is very slight. They used to be a different color. Now it just seems to be a (slightly) lighter shade of the same color. Perhaps it needs to be varied both in intensity AND color as I know that colorblind folks probably can't always distinguish different colors alone.
