Loved Legally Blonde, but was embarrassed for Reese on LB2. I hear that they are making LB3. Please say it isn't so....

This is something else that I obsess about: dignified, skilled actors who embarass themselves with their choices of roles. Think Dustin Hoffman in "Meet the Fockers". Or DeNiro, or Streisand or Danner, for that matter.

For pure stupid fun, rent "Honeymoon in Vegas" sometime. I love Nicholas Cage.

Tom Cruise is on my "??????" list, along with Paris Hilton and Regis.

Las - this is my problem. I introduce people to TS and they think she is so much cooler than am I. I have to keep her. Or I wouldn't have any friends.

I'd choose Vince over Brad any day.
I am so mad at him (Brad), I could spit.

I'm with you on Keith and Nicole - Keith's a hottie!
Tom Cruise is a freak

Where do you stand on Mark Ruffalo? Or that Topher kid? Just saw him in a B movie called P.S. with Laura Linney....She's 39, he's 22.

Topher Grace doesn't do it for me.
Neither does the kid who married Demi.
The older I get, the less I like the young 'uns. (although I admit, I loved the kid in "American Beauty)

Another huge age difference: Barbara Hershey (57) going out for, like, 8 years with Naveen Andrews (37) (he plays Sayed on "Lost")

I read in Star on saturday when I was getting my hair done that they broke up last year, briefly, and he fathered some chick's baby. Star says he's acknowledged it and is taking care of the kid.

Mark Ruffalo? Don't know enough about him...

I can't help but think of Sophie Tucker right now....

Ernie, I says, 20 goes into 80 a lot more than 80 goes into 20.

Sorry. Anyway, Mark Ruffalo mystifies me. Sometimes he's cute, other times he just looks.... messy.

Confession: home wrecker or not, Angelina is still the hottest thing going. IMHO.

Yes, TS is quite cool. We talked of cooking and hot sauces and hot peppers.. she likes little hot ones. Then I remembered that someone after a face-to-face at Bunny's referred to Greenetree as hot... and she's little... see the connection?

TS also makes a magnificinet Mango Martini (that's a hint to please send me the receipe)

Not that I don't think Greenetree is hot, because she SO is!

Angelina probably does the whole "crazy girl" sex thing which is always an attractive in at least a fleeting way. I was mostly amused when her Asian GF got interviewed on whether Angelina was likely to settle down.

I don't like boys much, either. Ashton is not my cuppa, as neither are most boys under 30. I do like Russell Crowe. Felt bad for Meg Ryan when it didn't happen. Nope, I'm mostly into the older guys, so long as they don't do weird things with their hair and wear earrings. I was always a big fan of Edward Woodward in The Equalizer. "Got a problem? Odds against you? Call The Equalizer"

Where is he when I need him????

I am so out of it...really rarely ever see movies.

Yesterday mr. Vig was flipping and we ended up on Top Gun. It was so funny. Mr. Vig actually has a thing for Tom Cruise (let's not even go there)... TC is so awkward to watch, yet you can't turn away.

Patrick Dempsey on the other hand, when he was looking at Ellen Pompeo while she was hyperventilating, what a look! Such compassion. Yet why he doesn't leave that cold b-atch who cheated on him, who knows.

I don't think I have any TV/film crushes these days. The Baldwin Bros. don't cut it anymore. I guess I just watch too much HGTV and TLC and Style. Though I do think Evan Farmer on While You Were Out is a cutie, he's kind of goofy, and probably too short for me anyhow.

Mom is going to her office for a meeting tomorrow.

BTW - I doubt anyone here watches The L Word, but I can't stand the LA vibe thing. Each week I threaten not to watch it anymore. A friend who spends a lot of time on the Left Coast swears that the Beautiful People thing is real.

Ugh. I am a midwestern-born native NYer at heart.

I do watch The L Word...I'm a bit annoyed at how they handled the birth, but that's just me...I guess it had to be dramatic. The actress who plays Alice is in tons of shows lately.

Nice to hear your mom is having some buisness-as-usual time about other stuff besides health (I assume)

Just caught a few minutes of the In-Style Celebrity Wedding show...that's certainly some (fun) fluff

greenetree, that is cool that she's going to the orifice and some normal stuff. Are they pretty cool with her when she's in? Does it give her a respite from Cancer Land?

Also, is she at all interested in Brangelina? We could get her a subscription to some uplifting periodicals.

Makin' myself laugh this a.m. Today, at precisely 9:40 give or take we'll be with the Oncologist hearing the what's up. 9:30 labs, 9:40 doc.

Mom is home-office & field based, so she never went to the office more than 1-2 times a week anyway, for things like meetings. But, back in November, when she was pronounced as "completely responsive", she'd made arrangements to do some training classes. She knew that it would take time to get her strength fully back and that she wouldn't be able to go on lots of appointments for awhile. In order to stay licensed (which affects her benefits) she has to something work-related. This was a win-win; she's one of the top women in her field and they have a lot of yung 'uns that could use some extra training. So, it seems that they are being pretty cool about finding ways for her to stay involved. She was supposed to start the trainings in January, but that was before the brain zapping. I hope today goes well and she feels good about it.

Pip - if you think I'm hot now, you should have seen me back in the day. Blue crew cut, razor blades for earrings, black leather head to toe, motor cycle boots. What a catch!

Cyn - hoping it all went well this morning. Thinkin' boutcha.

Oh - mom pretends to turn her nose at Brangelina, etc. But, her friends have brought her tabloids in the hospital, which she's been known to leaf thru "because she's bored". I don't feel bad, tho. Whenever she says "how could you" about my fascination, I remind that if she does die, annual sales at QVC are going to plummet. Yes, my friends, Greenemom is single-handedly responsible for QVC's favorable Wall Street ratings.

PET Scan and CATs reveal...NO CANCER AT THIS TIME.

All morning I was having the racing heart thing, etc. and took one of the pills the doc gave me (Beta Blocker? Channel Blocker? Something like that).

I cried and both men patted me. And then I took him to get his port a cath cleaned and a B12 shot. And then I took him home, and raced to work -- which is where I now am.

Need to schedule an endoscopy, to make sure, and we'll go back to oncologist in a month. He's on watch/wait because it's assumed its a matter of time before it reappears.

GT - you KNOW I agree with Lucy - we long ago discussed your book - or stand-up routine.. either one... maybe you could wear the leather pants & razor blades for the stand-up.

I have visions of walking into my mom's apt. after she dies and seeing all these unopened QVC/HSN boxes. She's a shopper! And all this time I thought it was she and her sister who kept QVC afloat. But they live in AZ and it keeps them amused. Although we call them the Dreaded Grandma Gifts, her "finds" are the highlight of our Christmas presents. This year, each couple got a combination 6" black & white TV, radio, assorted flashlights (3 - one that detaches), and alarm (not the wake you up kind, but the HEY SOMETHING BAD IS HAPPENING kind) - it also came with a plug-in adapter for the car. Each couple. That's 4 of them.

Yipeee! That is so wonderful. Now you can make Curt do the dishes. You must feel a million miles lighter.

SO - does your mom order things for people, have them delivered to her house, take them out and rebox them before she sends them to certain people so that they won't know that the item came from QVC?

ESL, everything OK?

Nope - my mom might have things delivered to her house so she can package them with other things.. but she always includes the QVC info should we want to return it. (And let her know? We'd never do that.. but if you see an odd piece of tv,radio, etc, etc at the Morrow Turnover sale, you'll know where it came from). She's not too proud to admit she shops for the unique deal.

Greenie: Thanks for asking. A dear colleague's mother had some numbness in her side. She is 65 years old, and in great health. Turns out it is a stage IV glioblastoma, an incredibly aggressive brain tumor that gives her at best 4-18 months IF they can get in with a laser knife and IF it does not rupture a blood vessel, and even with this she may lose a good chunk of her brain when they excise the tumor. You all know this better than I, but he is in shock and trying to get up to speed fast on the whole thing. One day life is normal, she is in Florida on vacation, and he is busy with his everyday stuff. Next day he is dealing with doctors and prognoses and trying to make critical decisions about her remaining quality of life. His mom still does not know--they told her that it was a pinched nerve and the doctors are still running tests. Spent a lot of time with him today listening to him strategize how to tell her. Ah, such sadness, such sadness. Happens everyday, but not always this close to us. You all know that better than I.

I am so sorry. If it is at all helpful, I happened to run across a treatment called the "Cyber Knife" at Overlook. It is newer than the laser knife, supposedly just as effective and has some advantages. My mom, unfortunately, is not a candidate.

The one thing I can tell you about the laser brain treatments is that there are limited places to do them. Rush, Andersen (I believe), Overlook and a couple of other places. Wherever his mother is, he should get her to one of those places for initial treatment, rather than 2nd opinion. It just wastes time if they can't do the procedure there.

I was also pretty surprised that my mom's oncologist had not heard about the Cyber Knife. So, tell him not to rely on a medical oncologist to know all the options. Brain tumor patients want to see a radiation oncologist.

Also, something I wish I'd known about before is the Corporate Angel Network. They match cancer patients with Corporate jets to hitch a ride to a doctor appointment. It avoids patients having to trek thru airports, etc., which is exhausting.

I'm a tad *drunk* from celebrating but wanted to stop in to say that Overlook seems excellent on all leading edge oncology matters. If it's possible for your friend's mother to go there, she should. And, they move fast as needed. Most of the docs have Sloan-Kettering and similar in their training pedigree.

Ring. Ring.

Hello?

Hi, it's me. I just came from the surgeon. He's going to put my port back in on Monday.

Good. Did you make it clear that you want the normal port and not the 6 foot long garden hoses this time?

Ohhhh yeah. He definitely knows. But, my appointment is for 1p. They told me that I can't eat or drink anything after midnight on Sunday. So, I asked the nurse 'what time would I have to stop eating or drinking if I were having the procedure at 8am'? Midnight. I'm going to be very thirsty.

Mom, did you tell them that you need to gain weight before you start chemo and that you get dehydrated and see if maybe they could squeeze you in earlier?

Why would I do that?

You're kidding, right? You'll pull the cancer card when a clerk is rude at Kmart, when Amex wants to charge you a late fee and when the cable company doesn't have an open appointment to fix your internet connection for two weeks. Why on earth would you not use it for this?

Well, I figure that I'm not dumb. If I can eat at midnight for an 8a procedure, I can get up and have breakfast at 6a for a 1p procedure.

My mother is not going to die of cancer; she is going to asphyxiate during a minor procedure getting ready to treat her cancer. But she'll have had her breakfast......

Oh, she spent 4 hours at the office in meetings yesterday and was taking lunch to an ill friend who is stuck in the house. She is definitely living. Until she chokes to death next Monday, that is.

The other part of this morning's conversation was about Super K (the 'Guardian Angel") who has walking pneumonia and had an infected cyst on her spine. She finally went to the doctor but hasn't missed a day of work. And didn't bother to tell the doc that she has blood in her urine.

Mom was going on and on about how Super K is going to end up in the hospital, how stupid it is that she won't go to the doctor when she obviously needs to and that she won't tell the doc everything that's going on in her body because she's afraid of what she's going to hear.

Silence.

Are you still there? she asks.

Yep. I can imagine how frustrating that is for you.

Oh, shut up.
