Thanks Wendy. Here is what I posted in the A&E section... If you missed THE READER at the Library or at Here's to the Arts, or the other local screenings then take heart. It can now be viewed from the comfort of your own computer. Simply GO HERE On the front page, in the left hand column is one link to the film. Alternatively if you click on the DRAMA category and scroll down you will find it there. Also, I would love it, if any of you check it out (and really why not...it is only 10 minutes long) if you would leave a review on the site. The site is run by a guy who is considering helping me produce my first feature and if there is lots of activity with the film on the site then..... So go, check it out, and (hopefully) enjoy it. The Reader has now won 5 awards and I am thrilled with its longevity and the reception it is getting. |

Ok so I have to tell this story. Just cause I have not seen my son so happy as he was last night. Here's why. we went to see the Indigo Girls last night in Princeton. Before the show Malcolm, my son, and I went up to the stage to check out the guitars and say hi to Sully (the guitar tech). We met a young gal who was in the front row and convinced her to hand Emily a note from Malcolm, as we were in (all of) row 12. She agreed. The note had a picture of Malcolm playing his guitar in front of the TV while a video of the Indigo Girls was playing. The note told them that Malcolm was 5 and had been to 3 of their concerts, and had a request for "World Falls." Malcolm had signed the note himself, and written "i love you" in his own handwriting. During the show, Emily, did take the note and then put it down after glancing at it. We were a little disappointed she did not say anything. Later on in the show, Amy, (the one Malcolm is completely fascinated with) picked up the note and read it. Then she carried it up to her microphone, and said "This is so cute. This is a note from Malcolm who is 5 and says he and his parents want to hear World Falls. This is a picture of him playing his guitar. (and she showed the note to the audience) So Malcolm, this song is for you." And they played his song. I took Malcolm up to the edge of the stage and picked him up so he could see. The audience cheered for him and hollered his name and he waved to everyone, and both Amy and Emily waved to him at the beginning and the end of the song. Malcolm was SO THRILLED. It was great! Afterwards we stopped in a Wawa on the same block as the theater to get water and snacks for the ride home. A few people in the store recognized Malcolm and called out "It's the famous Malcolm!" He was both shy and proud. And tired. We left Princeton at 11:25pm. Malcolm was asleep about 10 mins after we got in the car and slept the hour home. Here is the photo that was on the note...

My third short film, BUST, has just been accepted into the Garden State Film Festival. This will be my second year in a row with a short there. Hopefully, next year, I will have a feature for them!

Well, it's over. A Thousand Clowns shot off in a thousand directions. Back to wondering..."what's next?" and thinking "how do I raise 125K?" and "when will spring finally get here?" Thanks to those that came and saw the show. Despite the really potent lack of direction, the cast came together and made it work. I met some new people and made some new friends and that is always a bonus. See ya Murray. |

It was a moment in time indeed. Both of us wearing our straight-from-Ghana shirts that my brother brought for us. He stopped over at our place in Vermont between his stint in Africa and his new home in Indonesia. Soon we will be getting some awesome Batik!! The three witches from the Rainbow Room show...

Lots of things. Mostly it looks like we won't be going to Hawaii after all for the festival. And I had really wanted to do that. But the money spent on that trip is instead being invested into the feature film, or part of it anyway, so that if that film gets in somewhere like that we will go. It seemed really hard to reconcile travelling that long and far, the wife taking off that much time from work, and all for a 10 minute film. But, as you know by an email I sent you, I sort of made up for it. |
