I weigh 128, and I want to weigh 118. The weight is mainly around my waist I guess.

I don't have the time right now to measure carbs and calories to lose the weight myself, so next week I start Nutrisystem, the diet plan where they deliver the food to your door and you just follow instructions. I get the one week free plan, which totals five weeks for under $300.

Hopefully this works, and also that the weight stays off. We'll see!

That's just two pounds a week - doable.

Good luck Mem!

You are braver than I. I won't post my weight, but I should take off 20 pounds and care enough to shoot for 10 myself. My thing is not exercising. Maybe if you do it, I can copy you. I'm just too damned lazy.

I tried Slim Fast in January (worked great for my sis-in-law) but quickly realized that I can't deal with all that sweet stuff. My other S-I-L is doing Jenny Craig. Seems to be working for her.

Good luck!

Go Mem!
Good luck w/ the diet.

I am 6.1 and 190. I was much bigger in the waist area before I started eating oatmeal and giving up ice cream. I was on a dove bar a day habit. Not good.

Yeah. That's what it says on my licence. I am a big sloucher. I skipped the oatmeal today so I might be 192lbs.

I saw you on the cover on a magazine yesterday!
You looked tall too! Yeah tall!

If I weighed what mem weighs I'd have absolutely no problem posting my weight on MOL!
good luck mem!
I tried weight watchers online a few months ago. It started out easy enough, but like anything, required motivation and determination, which I Iacked at the time.

wihat will you be doing for exercise? Can I join you?

If I weighed 128 I'd happily tell anyone who asked, and even some who may not!

Good luck my dear. 10 is a nice do-able number. I'm sure you'll get there.

128 and you want to lose 10? You'll float away....

The only way i'll see 128 again is if I cut off my left leg and keep on going....

Good luck, Mem!!! You can do it!

I say that with complete sincerity, even though I wish I had a weight that I wouldn't be embarrassed to post.

All I can say, also with complete sincerity, is that I am tall enough that 128 would be way too low for me.

I am only 5'2"! I thought I was being brave posting my weight - I should weigh 110. :-(

Thanks for your support, you guys rule.

Now if I could just give up this crack pipe, but I'll try to lose the weight first.

If you are overweight on crack, you clearly aren't smoking enough crack.

BTW - my brother gets fresh, organic meals delivered each day (3 meals). He is doing it to eat healthily, but they have a weight loss version. I don't know if they deliver outside of Manhattan and it is expensive as hell.

But the food is really good; I steal them all the time.

Greene - Is it that the Zone diet? According to my new bible, People Mag, all the stars are doing it. I wish I could afford it, it's $32.95 per day. I am skipping the diet for tomorrow's party though - cheers!

It's NuKitchen & about $36 per day (varies with how many meals you purchase). They don't deliver in our area, but it would be great for a wealthy person who works in the city. They'd deliver to an office.

Buzz, you saw ME on a cover of a magazine? Must have been a preschool thing and if I looked tall it was because of my cowboy hat—I know I was not standing.

Mem, good luck with the 10lbs. Drink lots of water, supposedly that helps. I love pilates! And yoga, but don't do either enough. Will you do some for me?

It's a combination of diet AND excercise. Try swimming. It's definitely one of the best full body workouts you can do. I'd reccomend between 500 and 1000 yards daily (between 20 and 40 lengths of a 25 yard pool.)

Where around here can you find a pool to do laps? I stopped swimming years ago because it was impossible to find a lap pool that wasn't overcrowded or didn't enforce adult swim times.

Summit Area YMCA. Or, the South Orange Pool. If a person is just using the lap lanes as a private area to d*ck around with their kids (which is often the case). I kindly ask them if they could move elsewhere "as I need a place to swim laps."

Mem - I'm right there with you. I vowed to lose 10 pounds in the next month also. I've cut out the bagels for breakfast, taken to eating salads at lunch, no soda only water, I eat fruit right before lunch, and tried to cut down on the amounts I eat for dinner and above all I have started exercising again. I started out by spending 15-20 minutes on our elliptical machine in the morning and after I see Dr. Dempsey about my back I'll start going to the gym again.

I am currently the heaviest I've ever been in my life and it sucks. I think it leads to my back problems and a lifetime of eating everything and anything I wanted is finally starting to catch up with me. Plus if my son sees me eating more fruits and vegatables maybe he'll get the hint and at least try them. I used to think losing weight was easy, now I know better.

One week into the program I've actually gained 1 pound so things are not off to a good start. I think my scale must be broken.

Sports - I hear you! It's this aging thing I guess.

Tonight I had to go to my company's Employee Recognition Award Dinner (ugh!) and was fed all kinds of fattening food. I stopped going to work parties years back (one of my more indulgent resolutions after 9/11), but I had to go because I was giving an award to one of my employees. I was also fairly certain I would receive one because I have been doing three people's job for six months (we are hiring two new managers in June - finally). Needless to say I didn't get one. But I didn't spiral and eat dessert. So now I am sitting home drinking rum. Spiralling.

Long story short - how fattening is Captain Morgan's rum?

Thanks Bets my friend!

Guess what! I don't care how fattening this rum is, it's gorgeous! I am making up pirate songs right now, how's this:

I'm a stankin pirate and I don't care
I'm drinking rum with a one eyed stare
I'll walk the plank with the slightest dare
Cause I pay insane taxes for my lair

Wow. Glug glug glug,

Cheers all.

TrimSpa Baby!

and sex, sex, sex....

No really, TrimSpa really curbed my appetite, I found that I didn't even want to drink as much beer as I used to when I was taking it, I just kinda' lost my desire to eat, usually just making sure to eat a good lunch.

While I don't bother with scales, I definitely lost weight, went from a size 38-40, to around 36 (35 if they made them), and that's only because I stopped taking taking it, but I still find that I don't eat as much, must be the beer & diet pepsi.

I've had to buy new pants, new belts, new shirts, and last fall I got rid of all of my shorts because they were just too dang big so I had to buy new shorts for this summer, and found that I need to tighten my belt another notch.

Oh wear (sic) will it end.

Mem, I've gone down two sizes in the past few months and have not - I repeat: HAVE NOT skimped on the alcohol. Alcohol is your friend. Don't trust a diet that says to abstain.

Clear alcohol is allowed on low carb diets, so there must be something healthy about it.

This morning: egg white & cheese with ham on rye toast. No butter, took off all but one slice of ham.

Lunch: well-intentioned, I went to the cafe to get a low-fat frozen yogurt. They were out, so, spicy shrimp summer rolls from Wegman's.

3 dark chocolate Hershey kisses.

I'll try better at dinner, but TS called to ask me to pick up fresh raspberries for the cake she made this morning.........

5 dark chocolate Hershey kisses....

Oh, hell. It may be time to invoke the "eat it all at once so there isn't any left to eat tomorrow" rule.

It occurs to me that with raspberries on it, the cake becomes "fruit". And aren't you supposed to have 5 servings a day of fruit? There's fruit in sangria, too.

Chocolate is a vegetable. It comes from the cocoa bean! So it's O.K. to eat it. It's necessary for a balanced diet.

124.3 lbs tonight. I haven't even started the nutrisystem, it arrived today and it's freeze dried food - I am sending it back.
