My mothers name is Mique (Mike). Grandpa figured it would work for a boy or a girl.

You've spent far, far too much time thinking about this, Note. I fear for Pip.

Wow,what wonderful news!. Mazel Tov to you both.

From the look of this thread, you are never gonna have to worry about babysitters. My gift to you two (three?) is 2 hours sometime during the first two months. I'll even come by and notarize what ever you need.

Hi red - I am feeling great! Eating like SUCH a pig, and tired at night. Other than that, I feel awesome!
I am hoping now that the first trimester is over, I might stop eating so much....

Yeah I remember that. I was so exhausted I couldn't stay up past 6:00. Don't worry about eating, eat away and enjoy. It is the one time in your life you can really do it without feeling so guilty!

Mackie's good. Alesis could be cool girl's name. And Korg has its merits... chief among them being that it sounds like the leader of the bad guys in a cheaply-made but earnestly acted movie about a ragtag band of rebels trying to outrun Imperial forces, somewhere.

Mrbtabr: Your gravely mistaken, Admiral Korg. You won't convert me as you did my father.

Admiral Korg: Oh no, my young Mrbtabr, you will find that it is you who are mistaken... about a great many thingsssss...

Mrbtabr: Why, look! It's Captain Kirk and Commander Adama!

Korg: What?! It can't be!

(Korg whirls around, Mrbtabr strikes, Korg collapses to the ground in two big, greasy, green pieces.)

Mrbtabr: Ha! Fell for the old mixed franchises gag. Gets 'em every time!

Pippi, we got our crib at Berkshire, you know, the place you've supposed to have gone in forever??? Your dad's old friend Larry???

We bought the brand Lexington. It held up through 3 kids (though one at the painted finish off, she was teething, good not to use an old crib b/c of the lead issue.) They had a few different lines, ours was similar to a Pottery Barn style, but they had more contemporary. A lot of people use Childcraft, I think I saw them at the place on 22 (center island just west of the new fridays if it's still there) but I wasn't thrilled with the way the dressers were made (flimsy particle board drawers) so I didn't think I'd love the cribs. Good to go into those places though to see how things are made. I'd also take a trip to Babys R Us or Buy Buy Baby because they have a huge selection.

Glad to hear you are feeling great, it's all because you're eating I think. I ate a lot and packed on the pounds but never had morning sickness. My mother who never gained much weight (maybe 20 lbs max, but more like 12) was sick for 9 months. (She also weighed more after giving birth, I guess she got her appetite back!)

I know Ikea also has cribs, probably more streamlined (just checked the catalog, they have a few) and also very inexpensive.

BTW, you won't need a crib right away, get a bassinet or even the new porta-cribs are great for newborns.

"Pippi, we got our crib at Berkshire, you know, the place you've supposed to have gone in forever??? Your dad's old friend Larry??? "

Ohmigod - that's funny. I guess I really should go in there to look, since I promised him I'd go in there!

Might have to check out IKEA.
Yeah, I know we won't need one right away, I just know that I won't want to worry about it after the baby comes.

Mackie is not a bad boy's name. Might have to add that to the short list

How about Micah? Old Testament, but kinda new age. Strong and sensitive. I've known three Micah's, and they are all very cool men.

About Ferry Street, Newark...Goldfingers is very overpriced but has a great selection, but there are great stores up and down that street with much better pricing. I think La Canilla was very good.

Also, check out Lakeland Baby on Rte 23 N in Fairfield or Wayne.

Maybe we should just name the baby Him or Her. Avoid all of that pesky "what's his name again" awkwardness.

Who? Him. Yeah. That's it. That's what? His name. Him? Yeah. Huh?

If you have more than one or even have multiple pets and just the one, you are not going to remember his/her name anyway.

The name should be "Um, you" with a gesture and point. Name everyone that and you'll be fine.

Would you make up a name? Not something silly of course, but you could do something for a boy like Molloy. (MOL first of course!) I know it's normally a surname, but it's kind of cure and keeps baba in the MOL family!

Geez - I don't want to make Notehead out to be some kind of dunderhead.
He has many incredible, desirable qualities. I try to make up for the minor things he lacks, like dates and names. No biggie, in the grand scheme of things...

...until the day he forgets MY name....

soparents - I would totally make up a name!

Molloy is GOOD, but I am hearing it in my head in an Irish brogue...
could be a problem. Notehead has a tendency to pick up accents easily and I could just see us teaching the kid to speak with a brogue!

He still loves me though!
