Well, two hours turned into 2 days. The shoes are not as uncomfortable as I thought (though not at all comfortable), however they are extremely inappropriate looking. They would look fine with jeans going to a club, or a g-string while your legs were wrapped around a pole. They look really cheesy. Plus, my brother HATES thongs and they make that annoying noise when you walk. She's a moron. |

Oh, I forgot to mention that because I am well endowed (at least with toe length) my toes literally touch the floor, yet there's room in the back. I can't get the shoes any bigger because it won't make a difference—they're made like crap and won't fit right. She's a moron. |

Can you stick on those little no-slip pads that go under the ball of your foot to keep your feet from slipping? I don't know what they're called, but I know they've worked in other high-heeled shoes I (used to ) wear. A shoe repair place or even a shoe store would have them. It may help....at least a little. |

Well, they live in State Island and the weddin's (g left off on purpose) in Brooklyn, so I suppose they're appropriate in that sense. I will make sure I chew gum and drink beer out of a bottle for the pictures. Might even throw a tat of a rose on my shoulder blade for effect.

The shoes came with a 2 inch foam circle on the thong thing. My sister and I will wear them like that, or maybe with a pedicure pad. I probably will try those pads too. Pippi, ya' know the shoes I wore to your wedding? Do you think they'd work? Remember, they were sort of gold platform pump with a little peep toe? If I'm going to change I might as well wear something *I* like for the rest of the night. |

I can't remember what they look like but they are gold, so why not? bear in mind, you might want something super comfy to change into after walking around in shoes that are uncomfortable. moose - thanks for your contribution |

Ok, ok, I take it all back. She's no moron, she's a very smart girl. My husband got home late and asked about the shoes. I explained to him my feet hung out the front and sides and I felt like a size 18 in size 2 clothes. He said it was ridiculous that I had to be uncomfortable and I should call my brother. I decided not to bother my bro since he was kind of upset about everything anyway, so I called the girl. VIG: Hi, it's me...sorry to call so late, but I wanted to talk to you about the shoes and I hope I don't upset you. I know I said I'd wear them...I was trying to make everyone happy, but I really feel self-conscious and uncomfortable in them. My feet look fat and ugly and I feel like it will take away from the elegance of the dress. I know how important it is to you for us all to be wearing the same shoes, but my feet looked really ridiculous. You know my mom's friend V, with the bunions? HER:Eew, I don't want to think about that VIG: Well, my feet looked like that. Just out of proportion to everything else. HER: It's ok. I know you said you wouldn't wear them. I was surprised when E said I should order them for you. Do you think your sister and cousin's feet hang over the same way? VIG: Well probably, I know they said they did. My feet are probably the biggest, but they both said their feet hung over too. (She ignores this.) HER: Well, I didn't see them try it on but it looked so beautiful on my sisters and friend. I've been looking for so long and nothing looked nice enough. I know some brides pick out a few shoes so everyone can be comfortable, but I didn't see anything else that I loved. VIG: I tell you what, I know you want something simple and elegant. How about I find something suitable, and you have total veto power. If you don't like it enough, I'll make sure I can return it for something else. HER: Sounds good, you have good taste, I'm sure it will be fine. VIG: Good, hope to see you soon! If I see anything online I'll send it to you.

So I tried on the DRESS this weekend. I really liked it! Looked so much better on than in the picture. The color is lovely. My sister hates it, but she looked gorgeous in it. It fit us both almost perfectly, just minor alterations needed (and a little padding for one of us who shall remain nameless). The highlight of the evening was when my husband decided to try on the shoes. (My sister's, she never returned them.) He slipped on the gold thongs and tested them out by doing a little tap dance. As a foley artist, he's been known to wear pumps for the right sound effect, but gold thongs? It was quite hysterical. Tongue out, grooving in his gold thongs. (This was before future sister-in-law arrived.) She would not have found it funny. The rest of us did though.

VIG, throughout this entire ordeal each time you say 'thongs' I think g-string. Now I have an image of Mr. VIG dancing in a gold g-string and I don't think I can ever face him again! |

SOL, thanks for the compliment! NO, I have not yet found shoes! I am looking for something with a 1.5-2.5 inch heel and it has to be gold, or I was even thinking of doing a clear shoe with gold trim. It has to be pretty open, so it won't look SO diffrent from the thongs! I will try MaSH again and possibly Jersey Gardens if i am unsuccessful there. (It's July, so I'm sure something will appear by then.) Las, ME TOO! Just imagine him in a gold g-string and you will go through your days laughing out loud, how the hell do you think I get by?! |

I did. And Zappos, and I did a gazillion searches. Admittedly, I'm picky, but I really want it to be comfortable enough to wear all day. If anyone finds a gold leather (or vinyl) kitten heel open sandal, let me know! |

Update on the headache situation for those who care: I need glasses. I have astigmatism. Anyway, the dr. said the glasses should help in the 3 areas I need help: night driving, reading and working on the computer. In really, really good news...yesterday my sister's bf and I went and purchased a rock for her engagement ring. It's so beautiful, I am so excited to be helping him with this surprise. |

No doubt you will rock out with a very cool, very VIG pair of glasses! wear them like you wear your funky shoes! FWIW - Dr D has a keen sense of what looks good on people. He's never failed to pick the perfect, cool pair for everyone I know. Yippee for your sister! How long will it take K to make the ring?

Pip, For now I went with the free glasses through the union. I did try on a bunch and liked a Vera Wang pair, but I decided to hold off and live with the freebies for awhile until I get used to them. (And make sure they make a difference.) If I went to Dr. D for another pair what would I do, bring my prescription? How does that work? Did you get the email? Michele & Stacy were both sick yesterday and they ate the steak too. P & K will meet up tomorrow night! She said because the setting is fairly simple it will only take a week or so. He does want to ask my dad's permission first, and he might do that when they go away 3-31, but her close friend is getting married the following weekend and he's not sure if he should propose before or after the wedding. I said he should do it a few weeks before, not that week, or the week after. My future sis-in-law's shower is on April 22, and my brother said he should definitely give it to M before that, so anytime within the next month I suppose! I am so excited for them.

I spoke with Stacy and she was sending an email to the restaurant to let them know that all 3 people who ate the steak got sick. you got the glasses already? Post a picture! If you went to Dr D, yes, you could just bring the prescription. |

The glasses are nothing great. I will get them in abut 2 weeks. (But they were free and I need them!) How do I get the prescription? There was an optician there, but would I tell the dr. I wanted to get glasses elswhere?

I would just ask for a copy of the prescription. You don't have to justify your request. It is your right to have it and it is a good idea whether or not you plan to have another pair made up. For example, it is advisable to take with you on vacation (especially out of the country) in case you break your glasses and need to get a replacement on short notice away from home. |

So my husband, dad, brothers and future bro-in-law got back from their golf weekend. On the 13th hole when FBIL realized my dad's game wasn't getting any better, he decided to ask my dad permission to marry my sister. Ahhh! My dad, one bro and FBIL went back to my parents house where my sister was waiting. My dad congratulates my sister. For what? she asks. For "P" asking to marry you, he replies. WHAT? She didn't know. She knew it was coming eventually, but she didn't know it was coming soon. (Other than the fact I slipped a few times asking about her ring, etc. this weekend). FBIL was very gracious about the whole thing, says my dad took all the pressure off. My dad feels terrible. My husband thinks perhaps he's becoming senile. |

Yikes - so essentially your dad proposed for him...it's certainly a story to remember. When Mr. Doula brought up the subject of marriage (not that we hadn't assumed, as we were living together, just hadn't really discussed), I was (for the one & only time in my life) cleaning the oven - wearing rubber gloves & all. I mentioned this to my beloved & also pointed out the fact that he was ring-less...he said the real proposal was coming. We got the ring but he maintained that the proposal was coming soon... Sat. (April Fools Day) was our 11th, so I'm sure the real proposal can't be far off now. I actually like our story! Maybe your sister will too? |

Yay! So my sister is engaged. He picked up the ring on Fri and it was one of her best friend's weddings Sat night, so they had rehearsal dinner, hair/makeup, wedding and brunch this weekend. They got home exhausted and he asked if she wanted to go for a walk. Instead, they napped for a few hours and went for a walk in Prospect Park. He found the perfect spot (no one was around!) and proposed. Yay! Her ring is gorgeous! Pippi, Kath did an amazing job. kdirestadesign.com to plug her work, the ring is not shown there though. It's very simple and geometric, all platinum, matte finish with this very thick, wide bezel around and the perfect stone. When he picked up the ring and saw it, he said "you're the first person I'm inviting to the wedding." Don't think I didn't try it on yesterday 100 times. Now I'm planning a wedding, so if anyone has any tips let me know. (Maid of honor. Do Not Call Me Matron.) We all met up at my parents' house and broke out the Dom Perignon 1985 vintage. A gift from my in-laws when we got engaged (in 1993), we kept forgetting to drink it for any of the big occasions in our life. Who even knew if it would still taste good. It was delicious! I was happy to share it with my parents, sister and new brother-in-law! My 4 year old (today is her b-day) is obsessed with hair bows. She's not too girly otherwise, but loves bows in her hair, half up, half down. She insists her hair is done this way almost every day, and she is adorable. Since she's going to be a flower girl, I thought we could get a big white bow for her hair. It would totally capture her how she is today and be perfect for the wedding, or so I thought. Enter Bridezilla. Last night, the kid was lying in my lap. BZ comes over and starts examining her hair bow. She said "your mom said you were thinking about getting/making a white bow for her for the wedding. I don't think its dressy enough." I said, we can make it in satin or something, it's her favorite thing in the entire world. She asked what the girls wore for the other weddings they were in. None of the other brides (my 2 other sister-in-laws) cared. She wants the kid to wear a rhinestone & crystal tiara. But, this is the same woman, er girl, who changed her dress 3 times and is on her 4th headpiece. She has glossy photos of herself in each one, with each designer. She takes photos from every angle. She is going to be crushed when this day is over. What else will she have to live for?

Thanks! All her friends have gigantic stones, but she said none of them have such an original setting. Even she agreed it would look ridiculous if the stone was any bigger than it is (about 1 3/4 carats!). Her poor fiance was so stressed that the stone wasn't going to be big enough! Another plug: www.kdirestadesign.com Most of the designs on the website are silver or silver with 18k gold, but she will recreate anything in gold or platinum, or work with you to come up with a custom design. |

I got back yesterday from my "Spa" weekend with my mom & sister. We had so much fun. Took a gazillion classes (my body aches today), ate some delicious, healthy food, laughed a whole lot (note to self: do not take yoga with mom ever again). Crunchy yoga teachers do not seem to appreciate when you laugh uncontrollably for half the class, luckily it was a 9pm class and there was only one other person (besides my giggling sister) with us. My mom discovered two new foods she likes: oatmeal (!!!) and (very mild) vegetarian chili. Hey, it's a start! I had amazing treatments and literally enjoyed every single minute (except when I awoke in the middle of the night and couldn't fall back asleep b/c of my mom's snoring). I highly recommend the place for a little "me" time or a girlfriends weekend. There was so much to do and it was so easy to make friends with the other women there.
