Hi Shh,
So then I'm not the only one worried about not getting a reply to my profile - thanks for thinking of me!
I'm a margarita fan too, though minus the salt, frozen pref. but not crucial - probably been awhile since you had a real one!
I may call upon your MAC services at some future date re. advertising!

DM,

It's been too long since I've had a real margarita! That's when you now it's time for the baby to come...my sudden cravings for a nice glass of wine (the other day even my husband's McSorley's smelled good!)...of course I'm just sticking with the smoothies and the decaf for now!

Update:
Proud mother of 3 girls...newborn, 4 and almost 6.

Everything went well with the c-section (baby was breech), recovery has been relatively easy. The big girls have been great helpers to me and everyone is happy and healthy. (And I'm thrilled to be able to see my toes once again.)

Congratulations!

I am a proud mother of three little girls too. Ours are now 8,5 and 2 next week. It seems you are in the same boat right behind us.

I am glad everything went well and you are up and around enough to log on! I agree with Algebra2 - you can't beat that new baby smell....or the way they curl up under your chin in bed at night, or the little mammal noises they make while they are sleeping, or their toes...................I think we are done with kids and then................

Have a great springtime with the little ones!

Hey, congrats! I've been having fun visiting my friends' baby, now 4 months old... it's amazing how fast they grow and change. Maybe some super-fancy nail polish is in order for those rediscovered toes of yours!

Thanks for the good wishes everyone!

KMK, aren't girls the best? I'm so in love with all three of them! (But I am biased!!!)

Mmmm, the smell. Puts you in a euphoric state. Even that poop smells sweet (when you breastfeed anyway). I know I probably just grossed out everyone (who didn't breastfeed or who doesn't have kids yet), but it's true!

Notehead, you may inspire me to do something a little more wild for my next pedicure. Maybe like...a color?

So, please tell us CFA...is it true about little kids, little problems, big kids, big problems? The general consensus seems to believe teen-age daughters are a tough group...with two I will assume you are an expert. Am I in for a rough ride in about ten years? Any pearls of wisdom?

Thanks Bets...I was the oldest child & a late bloomer and didn't give my parents much of a hard time until about 16. I'll be lucky if my girls are like me!

Both my parents are Aries. As for my kids, I have an Aries, a Taurus and a Gemini! My husband is a Taurus and I'm a Sagittarius. I know nothing about astrology so I'm probably better off!

Well Shh....I think it all depends on the way they are raised, at least that is the majority of it.

I am divorced and gay so my daughters got to see a lot in a short period of time. They live in Pennsylvania with my former wife. I spend the weekends in Pennsylvania with the 3 of them.

They don't really "hang out" like I see kids around here doing. They do ride their bikes, go to the library, rent dvd's and they do tons of homework. I can honestly say they are great kids. They receive straight A's in school (the competition between them helps) and they love their school activities.

When they get in their moods, they do fights with each other over the littlest thing or they won't listen to their mother. I on the other hand only have to give them the "Italian Look" that says "you better stop dead in your tracks or your dead meat." :)

I'm sure you daughters will turn out just fine. As long as parents take an interest in their children, they are half way there to becoming great kids.

PS....just to let you know, I quit smoking about a month ago, so, if I see you in Bagel Chateau or somewhere else, I'll be in the NO SMOKING section :)

By the way, I'm a Taurus and I'm GREAT! LOL

Thanks for the advice CFA. It sounds like you're a great dad and your girls are lucky to have you.

I'm working on the "look" myself. My dad certainly had it and can still bring me to tears with it! My girls are great so far and I figure a combination of being such a big part of their lives and knowing when to step back and give them a little independence (if I can muster the courage to do just that!) will allow them to blossom into wonderful young women--even WITH the mistakes we are liable to make along that journey.

Congrats on quitting smoking! I guess that was our major MOL disagreement and I'm glad we were able to "kiss and make up" so-to-speak.

Happy Birthday...it must be around now! My two bulls celebrated this week.

Today is my 35th birthday, and I decided to email my friends and some family members to tell them how special they are to me.
What a nice thing to do. I have gotten emails back from almost everyone telling me how happy it made them to read what I wrote them.
I am so bad at calling or sending cards, so I decided why depend on people to wish me a happy birthday when it's easier to reach out to everyone today to tell them what they mean to me? I'm happy. I'm lucky.

My husband gave me socks. (And you wonder why I buy myself my own gifts?!) I'm still teasing him. He's so practical. He got me something I need. He's lucky he's as good as he is.

I know. What can I say? I do sometimes mention I'd like new socks. I suppose he listens?
Plus, to be fair, I did get myself a beautiful pair of earrings and necklace amd DID tell him he could consider it my birthday and Christmas gift, I just didn't realize how literally he'd take me.
He also told me last year I got him NOTHING for his birthday. Thing is, I buy each of us stuff all the time, and can't save it for any occasion.
And for my birthday last year we went for a really nice $$$ dinner at Blue Ribbon Sushi, and he got me a Ricki Lee Jones cd. So whenever we're driving in the car and I put it on, I tell him to let me enjoy my 34th birthday present. I'm so deprived.

Did I mention the INCREDIBLE chocolate cheescake from the bakery in Bay Ridge? He called his good friend, who lives there and asked him for the best bakery. Then I told him, sure, I'll eat the cake up and then he'll tell me my is getting big.

So, yeah, socks.

Four pairs total.
• One Polo knee high, thick, charcoal grey with purple stripes at the top (I never wear purple). To wear with high boots (which I do wear.)
• One Polo black ankle socks (to wear when I get out of bed he said.) Slippers, hello?
• One bright yellow with a funny (scary?) clown face. (My mother just got me a yellow puffer vest from the Gap, maybe he had this in mind.)
• One royal blue pair of HANUKKAH socks with a menorah on the side. (He said he meant to give me them for Hanukkah but forgot.)
Two pairs he got at Macy's and the other two he probably got at the store in Penn Station (because two wasn't enough?).
I might return the ones from Macy's and get myself some nice jammies! Poor guy, he's going to have to hear me retell this story for the next month. He'll never buy me anything again.

Happy Birthday!

I've never gotten socks, but for a while (pre-kids of course) my husband was on the Victoria's Secret bandwagon. Um, who is that lingerie for agin, me or you?

For Christmas I got him a GREAT present, but since I knew I would probably be disappointed by anything he got me (no offense honey) I asked for a new set of good knives.

Thanks!
Yeah, a few years ago I asked for thongs. He did ok with that gift.
For Christmas, I got him nothing great. Underwear, t-shirts, Sweats, hats, gloves, scarves. Yoga DVDs. I just got him a bunch of stuff from LAnd's End but he didn't want to save it for Christmas, he took it all right away.
I used to try and get him at least one nice gift, like a leather jacket, etc, but do you blame me for not doing that anymore?
He's a great husband and dad, just a lousy gift giver. Like I said, I go shopping often and buy myself whatever I need/want and he doesn't complain at all. (I don't work outside the house, so pretty much all our income is from him.)
It could be worse, he could make me stick to a weekly allowance. THAT would not work!

I work outside the house and make almost as much as the hubster does. I still get complaints about the amount of money I spend. Tough.

But like yours, mine is a great husband and father. And every once in a while he surprises me with a great gift. The best thing is he has a great time shopping for our girls. His mother is into this American Girl craze and there is a shop around the corner from his office in NYC. I don't even want to tell you what he spent in there for our girls, who are 3 and 1.5. He got the 1.5 year old a doll that is too expensive to give to her! And the older one is into Cinderella so he basically bought any Cindy-themed toy in the Disney store. I hate themed toys but he did this all on his own and was so excited.

So I'll take socks and lingerie if it means having such a great guy.

He made it up to me.
We dropped the kids off at my parents Saturday night, and on the way home I suggested if he took me to Annie Sez to buy me a present, I would stop teasing him about the socks.
He (reluctantly?) agreed. I had him holding boxes of boots and shoes, and coordinating belts. He was a good sport.
He told me he might offer to take me shopping again for my Christmas gift. Probably a good idea.

So funny. I just decided to see what the last thing I wrote in this blog was, and a poster named johnny posted somethiing and it was deleted. I wonder if it was my johnny?
He probably was annoyed I share so much with the virtual world.

So, I've been going to the gym 2x a week or so for a few weeks. A few reasons: it feels good to work out, I have become friends with another mom who has a daughter the same age as my youngest (and it makes it a lot mre fun to workout with a friend), and because my youngest, who is now three, is giving me such a run for my money these days it's a good way to escape for an hour or so while she's in the gym's childcare. It helps...a little.

Been gardening a bit and we're very pleased with the front garden progress. Got a plan from a landscape designer friend, and we've been following it and adding on bit by bit. It's very rewarding. Hard for me to do too much with the little monster around, but when her older sisters are around on the weekends we can do some work.

What a bad month. Is July almost over? Started off well, my kids were all in camp and I had a bit of time for myself. Nice.

Then the bad things started. My keys mysteriously disappeared (only some of them), my brand new tire got a nail in it and had to be replaced, our new garbage disposal starting leaking like a sieve and water from our new bathroom somehow poured into the kitchen and into a new light fixture, we had a swarm of flies and an opossum nest, I hit my neighbor's car backing out of my driveway causing over 2k worth of damage and yesterday the kitchen sink (including the disposal and dishwasher) all clogged somehow so now everything is a big mess (and these are only the bad things I remember).

I guess in the grand scheme of things, reading about Greenie's mom and Cyn's hubby and Debby's dad and this girl Shari who needs a liver it's nothing, and I feel grateful...but all these obstacles are draining me...

This week I tried to do some nice things with my kids in spite of all the aggravation. It's nice to spend time with them and watch them be themselves in a new surrounding. A is the social one and will make friends with anyone anywhere. P is very focused and challenges herself but is always mindful of her little sister—and her big sister. H still loves to be the center of attention but is increasingly becoming more independent (and stubborn) because she's 3.

Taking them to Round Valley yesterday I learned a few things. Don't bring a big stack of old magazines to the beach. Kids don't need gel pens and coloring books at the beach. (Duh.) Don't pack a lot of real food you'll just have to throw away. Keep it Simple Stupid! Cold water (not a big heavy gallon jug), some chips, some cookies and some fruit. Anything else I could have bought there. Well it was a learning experience. (What was I thinking? Magazines, coloring books?) Oh yeah, if you hate the sun (as I do) get a beach umbrella! It's on my list, and a chair!

Summer is flying by and there are still so many things to accomplish. I started my girls party thank you notes months ago and bought the stamps and they have yet to send them out. This is always the way. Hubby is working late, maybe today or tomorrow. Best bet is probably to bring the kids to my parents house and sit them at the table and have my mom help me with it. I started all this work in the hall and bought a new light and patched and primed the walls and stripped the banister and need to paint. Lots to do.

Well writing about it made me feel a little better. Puts it into persepctive. So bad things happen, cost a few grand. We still have a happy, healthy family. My brother and a close cousin are both getting married within the year. Cousin (29) wants a destination wedding in maybe Vegas. My girls are flower girls. Flights will be expensive but we hope to make in into a mini vacation. In-laws bought a time share in Vegas, so maybe we can stay there. So, if the kids miss a few days of school, what can you do. Brother (27) wants a big huge Saturday night thing. All 5 of us will be in the wedding. It will be a huge wedding party. What I save on flights I will spend on dresses.

thanks for letting me share...gotta get the kids ready for camp.

Thanks J. I know, bad things happen. Writing about it helped me deal with it on a day I really didn't want to get out of bed.
It's only money, it's only a car, it's only a house. Sometimes part of me wants to move to a place where that's all it is, forget about the clothes, the make up the jewelry, the tv...just be creative...but then I think that's not who I am I can't leave the house without blush and lipgloss what am I thinking!

Gotta straighten up, empty the dishwasher, plumbers are coming to strike one thing off my list!

Shh,
I've had a month almost like that, too! My daughter took a trip to my mother-in-law's house and I was supposed to be able to get a lot done while she was there... But I got sick (strep throat!) and some other random things happened that have kept me off schedule. At least I had a chance to weed through some of our kid's toys. You know, all those birthday party trinkets and kid's meal prizes that have been around for 'like 2 years, and little pieces of things that never got matched up to the rest of the stuff (stuff probably long-gone). I even sorted through her socks (the mis matches, the ones that are too small, the hole-y ones, etc). You sound like you've got a great perspective on the summer, though. And there's still another week of July left! Have some fun. I'm going to try, too (amidst my work at home and at the job, and house repairs, too!). Thank goodness we didn't start the yard renovations like we had planned! Little Wit comes back next Friday and we can't wait to see her!
