Oh yeah - if you're thinking about bacon sarnies, then I'm definitely thinking about coming to watch the game. I was still on the hunt for a good local place to watch it - this is my first world cup living in New Jersey (last time around I was living in the Brooklyn, and ended up at a packed Irish pub with no A/C - on a real hot Saturday!) Now, if you could slap a fried egg in that bacon sandwich, that may clinch the deal Jason

Mr. Tabby is miffed about the WC this year. His country did not qualify. Last WC he drove me nuts with calculating odds, getting up at the crack of dawn (or earlier! ) to watch. His homeboys made it to the quarter finals only. |

I will be in Rome the day Italy plays the USA. (June 17th) I bet the streets will be empty with all the Italians watching the game!

Don't worry, Maplewoody..there are so many tourists in Rome this time of year. Also, I believe they follow the local teams more than the national team. |

Chris, I am trying to get our Cougar U11 team to come on Sat. morning. Also, I am sure that your Bloody Mary's will be a great salve to everyone who attended the WhatExit? Comedy night at the Women's Club on Friday. http://www.whatexittheatre.com/ Catered by yours truly. Plan to stay open late on Friday, because we will all be sauntering (swagging?) over to C'entanni's afterward. |

For those in South Orange and our friends in Maplewood, Bunny's is pleased to announce our business opening for 8:00am, Saturday, June 10th in anticipation of World Cup coverage. Come one, come all. We have a terrific selection of breakfast sandwiches, and the 7 foot digital HDTV screen cannot be beat! |

I would expect England to go far if healthy, so I expect any restaurant televising the UK matches to do quite well. However I think the places televising the Poles and Brazilian matches to be a bit more fun and have a better degree of lubrication. As for me, I am rooting for the Pommies. Cahill, Kewell, and Viduka! And crack open a rare Grange I have for at least one match ! |

We have been discussing the WC in the Sports section...see the thread "Only 2 more weeks till the World Cup." With boy wonder Rooney's micaculous recovery, I'd say England's chances of hoisting the trophy went up substantially. He may not be match fit till the knock out stage, but that's when the team will need him the most. Ironically, (assuming Brazil will top Group F and advance thru the draw) it may be better for Sven's team NOT to win Group B. If they do win the group, and should they advance in subsequent rounds, they will meet Brazil in the semis. If they come in 2nd place in the group and advance thru subsequent rounds, they will avoid Ronaldino and Company till the finals. I'm sure this will factor in at the final group match against Sweden. This should be a great tournament. BTW: You folks in South Orange get ESPN 2 in HD? (Comcast who services Maplewood unfortunately does not offer the channel.) |

Lou- I predict the normal siestas, and if Italy makes it far it will be crazy, but the streets of Rome will never be empty! |

Shawna, you're right that Rome streets will never be empty. But most likely during the games, the streets will be filled with non-locals/tourists only. Siestas, more noticeable in Spain then in Italy, have actually been cut down officially.... unfortunately. I was hoping US would eventually adopt that, but now all my hopes are gone. Even though I will be rooting for Portugal, can I come to Bunny's tomorrow morning too?
