I think some of the screen names on MOL are so interesting I always wonder how and why they were chosen. Some I can see were picked for obvious reasons, others I can't even guess. Mine, though certainly not one of the more interesting ones, was named after my favorite little cocker spaniel who died a few years ago. I know this is a totally personal thing and some may not wish to share, but if you do I think it would be fun.

My first connection to the internet was several years ago with AOL -- there were only about 200,000 members at that point. I saw that virtually everyone else had cool screen names that reflected something about themselves, so I chose "notehead" to hint at my avocation: writing and playing music. My AOL days are long past, but I've held onto my screen name wherever else I've gone online.

I used the first letter of my first name and then my last name. It's ingenious.

To define that while I love Maplewood and even have opinions about the town & its great shops, I'm a South Orange Lady

My reasons:
a) "South Orange Dad", and
2) "Dave" was already taken...

--Soda

BTW: Yes, I've taken my share of MOLer Moniker Abuse (mostly kiddingly) over the years; And yes, I do prefer to skulk behind a screen name, rather than be subject to the occasional lawsuit, death threat, or cream pie.
Thanks Dave...

My user name, which is noglider, (and my email, noglider@pobox.com) derives directly from my name.

Favorite Marshall Crenshaw song!

At work and elsewhere, I'm obliged to use a serious straightforward version of my real name, so it was fun to use something fun -- and reflective of my attitude since moving to NJ.

My screen name is a combo of The Spouse's and my last names. I usually use it elswhere, but I want to use it on Yahoo! and it was taken. I felt morally wronged!

Arnomation, thanks! I *need* that comic book. Many moons ago, a girl I worked with in publishing and I were going to start something called "Mean Girl Digest," a combo comic book and commentary (we were Sandra Bernhard and Fran Liebowitz fans at the time). This woulda been right up our alley!

Mine came from my days on delphi.com with a 14.4 modem , way back in mid 1994. I used my initials, and the address of my mailbox drop. <g> I've stuck with the same one whenever possible, ever since.
