Went to the Riteaid on Springfield Avenue today. As I was walking it looks as if the brand new sidewalks are rising out of the ground. The door into Riteaid hangs on the bricks because they are 4 inches out of the ground.

What has happened? Did we use a substandard contractor once again? Who is going to fix this? Who is going to pay for it?

The bricks are o.k., it's the Rite-aid thats sinking [and has been for a long time].

How low can it go? What a crappy store.

What's crappy? When I was proposing a brand new, convenience, full service, 24 hour, drive-thru drug store at the library site, I believe the consensus was we didn't need another drug store on the Avenue… My my, I wonder what this is all about?

I guess the Hilton and College sections of town will just continue to make due with what they have...

Rite Aid is so disgusting they need to remodel it or do something about it. They even need to do something about their workers. You go in there and one girl speaks all broken english you can't even understand her. Where the heck do they get these people. Then you got the big fat manager who sits outside and smokes her cigerette all the time. That's why I like Walgreens and CVS.

We don't need ANOTHER drug store, just need the existing one[which has been there over 16 years] to clean up its act!!!

Look, That Rite-Aid needs a wake up call and if it's more competition from a superior store - bring it on. I would say Maplewood and South Orange as a whole have a very poor selection of Drug Stores. I keep wanting to like Topf's as they really are a neighborhood store but even in their expanded store their selection is just plain weird. You can by an alarm clock but no diapers. What's with that?

Speaking of Springfield Avenue (semi-thread drift) Has anyone noticed the not insignificant numbers of Papa Johns delivery cars parked hither and thither (sometimes legal and sometimes not)around Yale and Springfield Avenue. How can we hope to attract quality businesses if customer parking is routinely taken up with their delivery vehicles.

And don't get me started on those same vehicles speeding down Yale Street!

Has anyone seen the "Curves" sign on the building next to 1978 Art Gallery on Springfield Ave? It's one of those hanging banners, but I'm wondering if it means they're moving in. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

I haven't been to that notorious RiteAid in a long time; does the guy with the really bad B.O. still work there? Last time he waited on me I had to hold my breath the entire time. Not exactly the reassuring, sparkly-clean image you want a drugstore to present. He is rivaled only by the sub-maker at the Quik-Chek who has the giant weeping, grapefruit-sized open wound on her neck/chin. I'm gettin' hungry just thinking about it!

No that stinky guy isn't there anymore. I know who you are talking about. I use to get sick everytime he would ring my order up. Thank god he's gone. I don't think he uses deodorant or showered his hair was always greasy too.

There are several other locations on SA where the bricks are rising - I've heard that a study is being conducted to find out why they have risen in some areas and not in others.

Wood Ave. in Linden all over again. I warned you silly SA people. You can take the ghetto off the street, but you can't take the street out of the ghetto.

SA IS A RAT HOLE AND SHOULD BE RENAMED VIC & JERRY BLVD.

"Curves" is a gym. It has been gaining appeal in other towns by being a gym that isn't filled with already stick-thin, fit & toned, all-dressed-up-for-the-gym people. (The kind of gym that you can go to without feeling like you have to spend $300 of "gym clothes", and do your hair & makeup first!)
