I know I’m not alone in hoping for the first accumulations of snow this season. My bad back be damned, I don’t mind shoveling!!

The National Weather Service has posted the following:

SNOW WILL DEVELOP AFTER MIDNIGHT TUESDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUE INTO WEDNESDAY MORNING...THEN TAPER OFF TO FLURRIES WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON...WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR 6 INCHES OF ACCUMULATION. A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THAT SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS POSSIBLE... BUT NOT IMMINENT. FUTURE DRIVING AND WALKING CONDITIONS MAY BECOME HAZARDOUS...SO IT IS IMPORTANT TO BEGIN PREPARATIONS NOW AND MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

I'm breaking out the sleds!

So I guess this means the grocery store will be full of people stocking up on bread, milk, and bottled water, right?

One down side: my sis-in-law is supposed to drive down from Connecticut tomorrow to help The Spouse with prep. With the snow, they are going to wait until Thursday morning. This means I will have to chop things. Yuck.

Well, now it looks like not too much snow. Hope no one ran to the store for nothing. Freezing rain and maybe an inch. The freezing air is following the precipitation.

After being awakened several times on Tuesday night by sleat hitting the windows, I headed off to work dressed more for a hike in the woods than a day in the office. By 9:30am the sun was out. Oh well!!

They're at it again... I bet we get 1/4" of slush. Any takers?

Oh, no you don't, not this time. You fooled us before, java, but we're on to you. As the old saying goes (as recounted by our President): "Fool me once, shame on -- shame on you. Fool me -- you can't get fooled again."
:-)

I'd like lots of snow on late Friday afternoon ( I just can't take any time off work this week for snow days).

I predict we get a light dusting, followed by a brief period of blowing, swirling flakes, then a bit of wet sticky snow, with an hour of sleet, 46 minutes of freezing rain, approximately an hour of partly cloudy skies and no precipitation, then a bone-chilling light rain, a switch back to freezing rain around nightfall, followed by a warming trend that brings a patchy fog (or is it Apache fog) to low-lying areas.

but I could be wrong...

I stopped paying attention to New York area weather forecasts after Al Roker predicted the "Storm of the Century" in 1993 and we got like, eight inches of snow that melted within a week. I think he has made a career out of hyping storms that never happen.

I think Al has made a career out of hyping himself...he may very well be the "TV personality" I find most annoying, but thats for another thread I suppose.

I predict that whatever the snowfall amount, someone will complain about some aspect of it.
