My wife is looking for OB/GYN with privileges at Barnabus or Overlook. Her current doc (located in NYC) has suggested that she locate a local doc. Any suggestions? Anyone to avoid? |

Both of my daughters were delivered by doctors with Associates for Female Health Care in Millburn, and several of my friends use that OB practice as well. Both were born at St Barnabas. I really, really like that practice, as do my friends. I recommend Dr. John Simonetti (he's wonderful), but other doctors there are great, too. Good luck. |

Dr. DeGraaff and Dr. Fain from West Essex OB/Gyn @ St. Barnabas. Dr. DeGraaff, my favorite doctor ever, isn't accepting new patients, but the other 4 (I love Dr.Verdoni, too!) in the practice are and their staff is wonderful. |

Dr. Luciani of Associates for Female Health in Millburn. He is no longer handling obstetrical cases, but there are several doctors in the practice who do - Dr. Pollack is one about whom I've heard very favorable comments, as is Dr. Simonetti. It's a comprehensive practice, so there is always coverage. They are definitely associated with St. Barnabas and I believe with Overlook as well. |

I second DeGraff and Fain. Fain actually delivered my son but Verdoni is my regular GYN. I cannot say enough great things about their practice. I have never been happier with a group of doctors. I am now on my 2nd and I look forward to every appt. because it is so nice to be there. |

Tammy Hamilton, Physicians for Womens Health, Northfield Rd. Livingston (near St. B., 973-422-1200. Great doctor, great practice, reasonable waits at the office, and she did a tremendous job delivering my kid. |

Really depends on the type of experience you all/she is looking for...I'd be happy to discuss options of care providers, as well as compare/contrast local hospitals, including SB & Overlook. Best, Kim, DoulaMomma 973-762-0785, doulamomma1@hotmail.com |

If it's the same Dr. Pollack I know (Marshall Pollack), he was my OB when I had my first child 7 years ago. He was in a practice with Fain & DeGraaff at the time. I loved him until I had to be rushed in for an emergency inducement due to preeclampsia. When I arrived at the L&D department, he was standing at the desk ten feet from me and acted as though I wasn't even there. When I called him, he didn't even look up. I went through the whole experience with Dr. DeGraaff, instead (I guess Pollack was going off duty). When he did show up two days later in my room, he gave me a canned "you did wonderfully, you have a great baby, don't worry about what happened" speech. DeGraaf, however, was great! She explained everything that was happening, reassured my husband, got tough with me when I needed it and showed A LOT of sensitivity. I switched to her for all my care and when she moved to her current practice in the middle of my second pregnancy, I moved with her. (She has now seen me through two miscarriages, three births and other procedures. I can't say enough good about her!). Maybe Pollack was having a migraine that day, but for my money (or my insurance carrier's) he wasn't there when I needed him. Then again, you may be talking about another Pollack. |

My babies were delivered by the wonderful nurses at St. B's. The obgyn (a man in the same practice as Dr. Hamilton) appeared only twice. Once to say--I shit you not--"This is woman's work so I'll leave you to it." And then at the end to catch. I believe he also made a phone call to his country club. The whole thing felt like an I Love Lucy episode. I guess what I'm saying is don't stress, because even if you're underwhelmed by your doc, they won't be around long. |

I'm a grandma, so haven't had any deliveies in the past few decades, but I highly recommend Dr Joanne Somers and her two young (female) associates, Drs. Lo and Mansouria. They are on Old Short Hills Road, down the road from St. Barnabas. I don't have their address handy, but they're in the book. They are lovely, smart, knowledgable women, and the pregnant women in their waiting room always seem happy with them. |

My son was delivered by a Midwife who happens to live right here in Maplewood, of course we didn't live here at the time or even know that she did. |
