A little more light hearted -- today is the 1st grade play! Thought I'd take my first grader for ice cream afterwards to celebrate.

Is the new ice cream place on Sloan open yet? Otherwise its Carvel for us!

Congratulations on the party :-)

I think the construction is still in progress... any other MOLers have a different sense?

The construction is still in progress. They were hoping to open in June. The new ice cream store is on property owned by the state and they had been waiting for the state inspector to come by.
The workers seemed satisfied that everything is on schedule and going smoothly.
Yes, we made a call to help nudge the state.
Trustee election is on May 13th.

JUNE? Back on April 10th, you posted that they "are hoping to open in about 6 weeks"

This is exactly the issue that keeps coming up about "managing expectations" and why people are so frustrated about seeing "Coming Soon" signs for so long.

Your post now say "They were hoping to open in June". Does that mean they are no longer hoping for June?

We have no control over a privately owned store and their opening date. I rely on what the landlord or a storeowner tells me. In this case, the landlord told me in six weeks when I posted that. I stopped in there last week and asked what the delay was. The workers say they are on schedule and were hoping to open in June.
I think the problem is that they do not realize how long it takes to get an inspection done from the state and they did not allow for that when they originally told me six weeks.
They told me early June. Since I am skeptical of posting dates on opening I tried to give them more leeway in case they have any construction delays.
I did not mean to mislead, but just passing on information that was given. I am surprised it takes so long to build an ice cream store.

Mayhew,
Grow up. In about 6 weeks from April 10 is May 22, which is close enough to June for M. Rosner to recieve my vote. You may have an issue on some of the others, but this is a bit petty.

Let's be clear. The really important thing is that they serve Pistachio on day one. If I go in there on opening day and there's no Pistachio there will be a reckoning and I know Juan and Ivan are with me on this, as we discussed it during our campaign confab today at Sbenois Towers.

Dr. Stefano: Does this mean we can expect Juan and Ivan to get involved in the South Orange election?

Dearest doublea,

Juan and Ivan are already in two primaries in Maplewood. I pointed out that they may end up running against themselves in the fall, but that doesn't phase them one bit. Ivan says their message is so powerful they will even beat themselves.

Stephano: Oh well; there might be an opening for a redevelopment director in S.O. if they don't want to return to Raymere, Mo.

Congratulations algebra! Now for instance, I'm sure your mother told all her friends she was due on..... Were you on time? or delayed? If late, I expect she never was made it into elective office.. at least not in this town.

The new ice cream place was not open -- we went to Carvel -- where everyone's ice cream was great!

And of course, my son was a shining star in his 1st grade play! The teachers, music teacher, and art teacher all deserve kudos! Its such a confidence booster for the kids. My son believes today was "his" day!

Happy Spring

That rocks :-)

Two of my favorite memories are of Frank and Anne on the days they were honored at Marshall as Citizens of the Month. We came, sat on small chairs and presented them flowers at the end of the cermony. I have the pictures framed - it's hard to imagine the older one is just a year away from college now.

The property is owned by NJ Transit so they needed an inspection and permit from the state. (instead of the village ). It is expected that they will be getting that in the next two weeks and then will be able to finish up the construction.
They are still hoping to open by the end of the month. They were told this when they started construction, but unfortunately there is no way to speed up the process.

First, we expected May, then June and now it is July with no sign of opening.

Anyone know any real date that we can expect the "new creamery" to open?
