I pass this place every day when commuting to work. Who goes here? Why is it here? Is it worth stepping into? The place looks packed on weekend mornings...how do you market a place like this without feeling embarrassed about the name "Weiners?" |

They are great. Even the one is SO is good. Good dogs for a good price. You should stop in and grab a chili dog. Best in the area. And they have more than dogs. Breakfast too. |

my wife loves the manny's favorite (i.e., french toast, gobs of butter, taylor ham and 2 eggs). she practically lived off of it when she was pregnant... and now the staff loves our 6 month old. best / cheapest breakfast around.

Really? And do they give you a free chloresterol test before you leave? Or do they charge you the difference between what you weigh before you walk in and before you walk out? I'm sorry but when losing weight is as uphill as South Pierson Road, it's a tad hard to see the silver/sliver lining on this one. |

Manny's is great. It's basically a diner. Very friendly staff. My 3-year-old is a hot dog fanatic, and she adores the place. But be warned -- it's cash only. |

Derek, did you really expect "Manny's Texas Weiners" to have a menu chock full of low fat food? I read recently that Texas had the largest population of overweight people (or maybe children?) in the US. Anyway, yes, it's like a diner and it's good. |

I was born and raised in Texas and I can promise you that I never even heard of a Texas Weiner until I moved to New Jersey. I think I read that it originated around here. That being said, we did have a hot dog chain in Houston called "James' Coney Island Hot Dogs" ... makes you wonder. And, I don't recall any greater (or smaller) proportion of overweight people there than here, but I don't have statistical data on that. |

Well if it's like a diner, I can dig that. If this Texas place can be successful in NJ, maybe my sister-in-law can be successful in Texas when she opens her new business to the public: Jersey Girl Pizza and Juice Joint. |

I've never eaten at Manny's Texas Weiner, but if it's hot dogs we're talking about you MUST try Syd's in the "Millburn Mall". I've had breakfast at the Texas Weiner in SO - not bad really, and cheaper than a regular diner. |

When my boys were little (say 2 and 4) it was a Sunday morning treat...sit on the rider mowers at Home Depot and go for waffles across the street at Manny's. |

The worst thing about the one across from HD is the smoking. As far as breakfasts go, it's good, but I can't stomach being next to a smoker. |

Derek, Wouldn't you also be embarrased to market a place with the name Texas?

James Coney Island tasted nothing like a Nathan's Dog. They also had Chicago style which is gross to me. Lettuce on a hotdog? Rhode Island has New York System Weiners...another thing you'll never find in New York. Stick with Manny's. |

I must disagree on the praise for Manny's. I went with my son who is also a hot dog fanatic. The hot dog was so greasy and slimy that the ketchup slid off. He took one bite and said he couldn't eat any more. I smelled the hot dog and sent it back, something was wrong with it. I had a gyro and it was adequate at best and the veggies on the gyro were pretty lame. I like diners and don't expect high quality grub but I found Manny's to be way below standard and have never darkened their doorstep since. |

My favorite dogs are from the Galloping Hill Inn in Union (Five Points). Nothing like a "complete" with all the fixins. Used to go there after skeet shooting for a couple of dogs and a beer...gotta get back there! |

CageyD, My wife and I are regulars at Manny's and have always had great service and very good meals. Did you tell Manny about the hotdog? As a family owned business, that's the only way that he'll know that that something was wrong. If I had spent good money for bad food, I certainly would let someone know about it (they just might try to make amends). |

Every time I visit my brother in law down the shore he insists I bring him 10 wieners with everything double wrapped to go. The chili sauce on the dogs is really good. |

If you really want to punish yourself sometime, drive up to Clifton and go to Rutt's Hut. They deep-fry their hot dogs. Be sure to order the "rippers." Those are dogs deep-fried until they just start to come apart, and are really delicious. We first heard about them on a PBS documentary about hot dog joints all over the US. |
