nan, you should screen the second half of Concert for George...your kid would see Ringo, Paul, etc...! I can see why some of the younger demographic wouldn't have liked it, but who could you get who's in the middle? Jessica Simpson is a major drag, the raunch of some other popular acts is too much for a lot of us. And, though I feel bashful saying it, I did like the opening business with the military choirs, the Tuskeegee Airmen and similar.

Bob- I believe he was looking at the Pepsi. I enjoyed it, but that last number screamed "I'm not Janet Jackson's Breast". Of the entire Beatles & Wings catalogues what was played weren't the songs that would've been my first choices. |

I thought that Presidents Bush Sr. and Clinton should have walked out to the theme from The Odd Couple or The Road To Morocco. |

I was kinda hoping he'd do "Jet." He doesn't seem to do any Wings material lately ("Live and Let Die" being an exception and longtime concert staple). It's all Beatles or post-Wings stuff. "I Saw Her Standing There" would have been cool too, though I suppose the song's subject being "just seventeen" might have raised a few post-Janet eyebrows. |

It was four well-crafted songs, well sung. If they seemed low stim and underwhelming, it's because it's all about layers of rhythm today, and eye candy. Paul's tuneful offerings are out of fashion. That's pop music for you. Also, there was no bare, football-like female breast crashing through the t.v. screen like a wild pass, beaning the dozing viewer in the eye. The whole stadium did appear to be singing along to "Hey Jude," however. People do like songs you can sing. I predict that melody will be the next new thing in pop music. Eye candy will remain top 'o' the charts, a constant in a sea of change. |

"a relief from the rauncy lyrics"? What about "Jojo left his home in Tucson, Arizona for some California grass" and "Sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman, but she was another man"?? (I'm amused, not offended, but it did seem to me like he was slipping those by the self-appointed censors.) |

Kathy - you really think those are "raunchy" lyrics? I don't think singing about "grass" is raunchy at all. I listened to "Get back" about 1,000 times before I got what the Jojo line was about - I'm still not sure I understand it! Paul McCartney is still a great performer (I only caught "Hey Jude".) I can't think of any musician who is so happy and natural in front of millions of people. He doesn't have to fall back on big dance moves and naughty now-you-see-it posturing because he still has the talent and he loves what he does. I'm back to being a Paul girl (sorry John)

alot has been read into Beatles lyrics in some cases that wasnt to be read into them (such as "Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds" about a picture John Lennon's son drew about his classmate Lucy, I believe). "Get Back" in its original form, was a satirical song about a movement in England to have Pakistanis return to "where they came from" as opposed to taking jobs in the UK. The satire was lost on alot of people and for years Paul was considered a racist. The original song was changed, and Tucson was added most likely because Linda McCartney lived there for awhile...the California grass may simply have referred to leaving the desert. The line about "Sweet Loretta Martin thought she was a woman, but she was another man" ...some people thought the line was about a transexual, some thought it was the Beatles' nod to the women's movement and those men who told women to "get back" into their "proper role".

"Don't dig no Pakistanis taking all the peoples jobs" which later became ... "dadadada, was a Puerto Rican living in the USA, GET BACK! GET BACK! GET BACK TO WHERE YOU ONCE BELONGED" right Hank? |

I actually liked Paul's halftime show, and enjoyed every song. Go see him in concert to hear more of the old hits!!! I liked the Black Eyed Peas during the Pregame concert too. Charlie Daniels I could have done without... |

Paul sounded really good, like he was around 30 years old. I wish he performed more songs but overall he was great. He looked a bit older than he usually does but he was slim seemed very youthful. When it was over I realized that I STILL LOVE PAUL!!! |

apm, you struck me as a Jack Petruzzelli kind of girl And S, I wasnt aware of the intermediate lyrics..just knew Paul got ripped for a long time post-Beatles about being racist over the original lyrics, which was pretty strange considering how they integrated Eastern music into their sound. |

I still want to know why Townshend used the N word in the song "Don't Even Know Myself" Regarding the Get Back lyrics, McCartney was not actually professing -at any point in the progression of the song - that he had racist beliefs. At that time in England, there was a very large public anger over jobs being lost to Pakistani immigrants. McCartney was just working the news of the day into a tune, something they all did. The Puerto Rican line was also just something he uttered, there was no dialogue around it. Listening to the outtakes of the Get Back/Let It Be sessions is a fascinating look at how they created music and how disjointed they had become by January 1969. Watching the Let It Be movie gives the impression that it was Paul and George who really went at it. But in reality the war was between George and John- prompting George to quit the group. When he did quit, John just seemed not to care. In fact, it was hard to figure out what Lennon DID care about at that time. He was a total disaster. The ugliness of Let It Be made the recording of Abbey Road - about five months later- one of the most remarkable feats ever. They recorded it and basically said goodbye to each other.

Live and Let Die was a perfect choice for a football crowd in a huge stadium. But -- Drive My Car?? That probably isn't among the top 100 Beatles songs, much less the top 5. I don't think it was a surprise or a sellout for Paul to be there. He always had the highest cheese content of any of the Fab Four. But if had ever seen George playing such a venue, I would've had to check to see if someone had spiked my drink.

I loved Sir Paul's half time show! What a refreshing change from all the raunch. I'm still a big fan at 46 and he's still cute at 60 +. Rock on! |
