Art,

Thank you for that generous offer. I just may take you up on that. Do I get pancakes?

Anyway, I began my sentence with "listen" just as a goof. Although, I never noticed, but maybe I do it subconsciously (sp?).

Got a nice call from Vic yesterday. He said even though he gets knocked about all the time (pilloried, was his word), he supports MOL and protecting our vital freedoms on and off the Internet.

Must give equal time and thanks to Mayor Fred Profeta and TC member extraordinaire Ian Grodman, both of whom have been encouraging and helpful from the get-go.

Any word from Ken Pettis? Or, can we assume this is another issue that he's ignoring.

Ken prints MOL and reads it in the shower every morning. Or so he says.

You know, I really like Ian Grodman, but wouldn't it be a hoot to have both Vic and Fred on the TC?

As the third poster on this now 128 posts later, I predicted this thread would be a lot of fun. It has been, with only a little thread drift.

It has been insightful to review the recent past and fun to read current quips.

The funniest is right above .. Ken P prints MOL and reads it in the shower....!

And anon, which one would be mayor? Don't think Humor. That is a whole second thread worth. He doesn't have the toughness of Fred or the ruthlessness of Vic. Humor at the end of the day is pretty vanilla. His agenda is not vanilla, it is, well let's just say - not maplewood's.

Reminds me: I owe David a return phone call. He was the first person who contacted me about the positive outcome of the Emerson web site case in superior court. Roughly 2-3 weeks before we were served with a frivolous suit.

Hey, did he jinx us?

Another public thank you to Ed Matthews and Mark Rosner for reaching out to us.

And to Leslie and John at Bunny's, where I enjoyed dinner last night and walked out with a generous contribution on top of what they're doing for us on April 2nd.

Actually, come to think of it, we need to compile a list. So many people are contributing their efforts and $ that this is a lot like giving a speech at the Academy Awards™.

Rest assured, we will be making that list.

They could always just list the donations by screenname, couldn't they?

So, am I correct in inferring that Vic, Fred and Ian are running for two seats (Fred and Ian the incumbents)? Or are there other candidates?

SAC
there are two slots up for election.
Both the democrat and republican parties will run two people for those two spots.

Vic, Fred and Ian are dems. they will run in a dem primary. The 2 highest vote getters will represent the dems in the Nov election.

Same, same for the republicans. Except they may run two, one or none. The reason being is that the dems have an overwhelming majority of registered voters. And dems have a particularly hard time distinguishing who the best candidate is, even at the local level.

Sorry- that's a fact - Jack!

Reflective:

If both Fred and Vic were on the TC, who would be Mayor? Well the Mayor is really just the Chairman of the TC, first among equals, technically with no more power than any of the others or no more power than the other four will cede to him/her, but it is an interesting question!

With the TC composed of Fred, Vic, Ken, David and Kathy, how do the votes line up? David is a Vic supporter, but he himself would probably like to be Mayor. Ken ran in the primary against Vic and with the support of Fred, but he and Fred seem to have had some disagreements lately.
And then there is the 5th member. When Kathy ran the first time Vic was her principal supporter. When she ran the second time, she ran against Vic and Fred was one of her prime supporters. So where do her loyalties lie?

Or Perhaps given Kathy's attachment to both Vic and Fred, she herself could be the compromise candidate and the next Mayor!

...isn't it still important to get the support of the Maplewood Democratic County Committee first, and wouldn't that support most likely still go to Fred and Ian over Vic and/or anyone else?

IMHO, Fred an Ian have served the town well during the past three years. I would be surprised if the committee just dumped either one in favor of anyone else, including Vic...
