I have tried to find information on how a person gets suspended from posting on the board and I havent' been able to locate it. Nor have I been able to find any quidelines about how long a suspension might last.

I'm assuming a person can be suspended for using profanity, although I've seen many examples of it being used. What other reasons can a person be suspended for? Can you really be suspended for "stirring up some dust?" If so, it seems there are quite a few people who must be suspended from this board on a fairly regular basis.

Me& - One who personally attacks another will be suspended.
One who "outs" or attempts to out a persona will be suspended. Since the appearance of the profanity filter, those persons just get red dots in the post. The moderator determines the length of suspension.

No, I was suspended because I made...what was the word...annoying (or something)oh, insensitive statements. I disagreed with lots of people, and was being attacked (I felt) by a number of high visibility long-time MOLers for making controversial statements. I never swore.
I was called a troll, retarded, stupid, crazy and worse. I took it on the computerized chin.

Watch, in a few minutes, someone will attack me again.

Me...go to help/instructions -> getting started -> then you'll see this:

"Rules and "Netiquette"

When writing your messages, please use the same courtesy that you would show when speaking face-to-face with someone. Flames, insults, and personal attacks will not be tolerated. It's fine to disagree strongly with opinions, ideas, and facts, but always with respect for the other person. Great minds do not always think alike, and that's where the fun is! Also, note that messages express the thoughts of the writers, not the board or its moderators."

I think that about sums it up.

I think Dave and many others would like me to leave the board. I've been trying to keep a low profile.

Meand: Like the rules? See people following them?

Tulip: So then, the folks who called you those things, who attacked you personally, were not suspended, but you were because you were annoying?

I too have been attacked on this board, mostly by people making unfounded assumptions about me. All the while those attacking were denying they were attacking. As a result, I am much more cautious about what I post. Which may be the case with others, which may explain lack of activity on the board overall.

"Flames, insults, and personal attacks will not be tolerated."

I have seen the above tolerated on numerous occassions.

Meand: Yup, and I frequently pointed the attacks out to Dave, but only once in a while was someone suspended. But, if I keep writing about this, I'm going to be accused of being insensitive again.
The MOLers who called me all these names reduced me to tears here at home a number of times, but I wanted to stay connected. My husband thought I was being masochistic, and he was probably right.

Meand: Let me introduce you to straw. He makes sure my views are never heard. So reliable, both on the board and, probably, elsewhere. My bet is, he's a social studies teacher. (I used to be one, and it takes one to know one.)

Well, I've left teaching and moved on to better things, unlike some people.

I didn't start this thread cause I thought things were boring. I was wondering if the lawsuit had had a "chilling effect" on both posters and moderators.
