To Jim Costanza: you said you were looking for a real estate agent ... we just closed on a house in Maplewood on June 14 ... our real estate agent was Elizabeth Keyloun, (973) 376-4584 ... she really hustled for us ... very happy ... regards |

I'd have thought that Sbenois Industries would have helped relocate Mr. Costanza themselves, but maybe it's a free-market firm. |

Hi! I just wanted to check in and introduce myself. I'm also fairly new to Maplewood. I'm a stay at home mom to a rambunctious 21 month old, but I much prefer the title Domestic Goddess. :o) I look forward to chatting with you all! Julie |

Hi: I guess it's finally time to make a formal post, after years of "lurking". We’ve lived in Maplewood for 13 years with our two kids (now getting to be teenagers!), and we've always been very happy here. It’s such a great town with such great people. For anyone that's new to the area, you definitely made a great choice! And let me echo what others have said -- if you're new to SO/Maplewood (and even if you're not), defnitely join Newcomers' Club! We're still close with so many people we met through Newcomers. It was the best thing we did when we moved here. As a parent of one teen and one "about to be" teen, I only hope we can expand activities for this age group to keep them busy and engaged with the community. What I'd like to see most is a safe, well-managed skate park. My son worked harder than he's ever worked and made the Honor Roll in middle school twice this year -- all so he could go to skateboarding camp in Pennsylvania for a week this summer. It's the best (and only!) self-motivator we've ever been able to find for him. Hope we can make something happen -- all this driving back and forth to RexPlex in Elizabeth is really getting old! Other towns have found a way -- we should be able to, too!. Glad to be here with all of you, and to finally be able to join in the conversation! Carolyn

Glad you're here. Hope you take advantage of all the posting areas; and please note the "Real Name" area if you're so inclined- it's discussion that requires using your real name, which does not preclude you from posting elsewhere--just another flavor on the board. I can get you signed in if you contact me via Privateline. Have fun no matter where you post. |

Hello there...I am writing to let you know that while I have been a resident of lovely Maplewood for over 10 years, I am new to the computer/MOL. Please bear with me and I promise not to be so "wordy" in the future. Here I go!... |

Wordy is okay, unless the assembled determine it not to be. Fortunately, the rules are variable and never posted. Feel your way along the outer walls |

Hello everyone, I am writing from rural KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa, where I've been living with my partner for the past two years and working at an HIV/AIDS research center. We are planning to return in January to the New York area, where I'll start a doctoral program and my partner will work. We would very much like to live in Maplewood or South Orange. We have a dog; as sweet-tempered, well-trained and pretty a German Shepherd dog as you're likely to meet (other people less biased than me also say this!). And, we'll need to find a place to rent (until we can buy) that will permit a dog. I have no idea what to expect from the market in Maplewood/South Orange, in terms of how difficult it might be to find a house or apartment with a yard, where a dog is permitted, and what rent we might expect to pay. I'd appreciate any advice anyone has to offer! Many thanks, Carol |

Carol, Good luck with the move. I don't have any advice to offer on rentals per se but you might reach more posters and have better luck with your request if you post it under "Please Help". That thread gets more viewing, I believe. Looking forward to seeing you in SO/Map. NCJ aka LL |

Powerstrolling welcome. you are new. I will let you in on the etiquette uses of MOL. We prefer that all business offers are kept in the "Work" section of the site. If you'd like to advertise, it's very affordable-- e-mail Jamie at webmaster@maplewoodonline.com for details. Future business offers outside of the "Work" area of the message board will be deleted. Thanks for understanding. |

Hello again. I have been reading these boards and I am amazed at the number of companies under the Sbenois Industries or Sbenois Engineering title. What is the story with this company? Are most of the people in Maplewood and the surrounding areas employed by this firm? I am very excited to be moving to the area but I'm also nervous about a new job, new digs, new everything. Help! |

It's hard to estimate just how big Sbenois is within Maplewood. A pioneer in the large-scale manufacture of framistams, Sbenois now sells these almost as specialty items. Gurnusferns, same story. Do you work in either of these areas? |

Brian, did it occur to you that Costanza may have been asking a serious question? Are you perhaps miffed that your very first comment to our "newcomer" was treated as a been there, heard that comment? If you're not careful you may be charged with violating the Good Samaritan Law like Jerry and his friends and spend a year in jail without your friends from MOL and environs. |

Costanza: Sbenois is the kingpin of a vast virtual empire which has no known parallel in the real world. |

What is a framistan? I've never heard of a framistan. What do you mean by virtual empire? Is it me? I'm getting very confused. |
