Dear Soda, Please recognize that the agreements I make with my employees are confidential in nature. I can assure you that all employees of Sbenois Engineering are given market competitive benefits. In most cases our benefits packages go well beyond what our competitors offer. I will refrain from commenting on the rather hostile portions of your post as they make very little sense. Dr. Stefano, I had forgotten that you regularly visit these boards. It is a pleasure to see you join us again good sir. If you can offer your valuable medical skills in this instance, I would be delighted to help you make contact.

Most gracious, S., Thank you. Now that I'm back from Tuscany I am taking new patients. BTW, I highly recommend the Sbenois HMO/PPO plans, as they allow physicians like myself to spend up to 24 minutes with a patient, 10 more than the national average and 19 more than the NJ average. |

Stefano: Let us fervently hope that the upcoming birth of Mrs. Costanza's baby takes place within the allotted time limit set forth by Sbenois' predatory HMO. The image of you checking your watch, turning on your heel, and hot-footing it out of the Delivery Room on your way to a mid-morning snack of Yumsters and cocoa is too gruesome... it boggles the mind. Sbenois: It is well that you chose not to comment on the "rather hostile portions" of my recent post, which were indeed descriptive of the callously cavalier manner in which you have chosen to toy with the clearly victimized Mr. Costanza and family. Posts alone cannot convey the deep hostility and genuine outrage you engender, since, as one must conclude, your "vast empire" has cynically offered nonexistent employment to an innocent from afar. Such contempt for decency and fair play must surely arouse the ire of any and all respectable netizens who are witness to it. You, sir are a cad and a bounder, and I publicly accuse you of willful malfeasance, not to mention the wanton abuse of this board to achieve your nefarious ends. I personally shall never patronize your cafe again. ...and to think: I once considered you merely a playful lunkhead... |

Dear Dr. Stefano, I tried to reach you at the office this morning to no avail. Based upon a suggestion I received in a privateline from Soda, I would appreciate it if you could book your calendar for Friday, July 19th at 9am to provide Mr. Costanza a full physical along with his wife. I want to ensure that they are in the finest health when they arrive here so that the $5,000,000 life insurance policy can take effect on his very first day of employment. I would like to publicly thank Mr. Soda for so generously making this suggestion. Posting it here will remind my many employees (who generally read these boards at roughly 6pm) of the wonderful benefits we offer. |

Sbenois, Friday is typically water polo day for me, but as you are an important client I will book the date and give them a good going over, as we like to say in Tuscano. Sorry to have missed you at the office, but Mondays are badmitten days at the Cafe. Did you forget? |

What follows is an exchange of Private Line messages between Sbenois and me. I post it with no pleasure or sense of stisfaction. If Mr. Costanza is a real person, and is not "in on the joke", he has my sympathy, and my apologies for any discomfort he may have experienced in response to my recent posts. Flame away. -soda ************************************************** Subject: Oh Pleeeeeease (PrivateLine from sbenois) Date: Sunday, July 07, 2002 10:47 PM To: Soda You sound like Rod Serling in your last post. Just relax, he's going to come here and enjoy two weeks of bliss in my company. Then I'm going to fire him for being a lousy worker. Moronic? Hardly. On the contrary, I've got it all figured out. Hey, I thought you LIKED me. -- Re: Oh Pleeeeeease (PrivateLine from soda) Date: Monday, July 08, 2002 12:34 PM To: Sbenois What I DID like about you was your obvious wit and sense of fun, as played out so often and so harmlessly on MOL before the current brouhaha came about. What I DON'T like is that you've evidently stepped over the line between satiric zaniness and heedless victimization, for the sake of ego, or shock value, or whatever is driving your insistence on stringing this poor guy along. Now, if Costanza is merely a figment of your own imagination to begin with, or if he's a real person who's "in on the joke", then that's a different story, and you owe nobody an apology. If, however, he has been scammed, as seems to be the case, then not only had you better fess up and beg his pardon right quick, or else I've a feeling that your tush will end up in a rather large sling in the not too distant future. At the very least, the MOL onlookers and webmasters should be offered a full explanation, since you've clearly opened a potential Pandora's Box for yourself if things progress much further. Please understand me. I don't give a rat's ass about your sense of humor, or your standing in the Virtual Community, if you've actually damaged the real-world life of an innocent guy. That's the bottom line, and I'm putting you on notice right now: Either you clean this mess up in public, on the same thread where it's come to light, by 6PM this evening, or I'll post the text of your private line message to me. I don't expect that your recent "departure" from posting was taken seriously by too many of us, but if you fail to resolve this situation, I figure that disappearing from MOL might become the least of your problems, and no tears will be shed for you in that event. --

Dave-- I just checked the Private Line Directory, preparatory to an attempt to send a private message to Costanza. Guess what: He's not listed! Is this only a function of the low number of posts he's sent to date, or is there a time period which must pass before someone's listed, or could it be that there actually is no such poster? If the latter possibility is the case, then boy, is my face red. And to my very good buddy Sbenois, may I say: Never Mind. BTW: The Oracle Of MOL has been of no use to me at all in my efforts to discover what's up with this whole fiasco about Mr. Costanza. It may turn out to be just another tempest in Sbenois' teapot, but at the moment, I don't think any of your concerned posters are sure. I know I'm not... |

I would like to personally vouch for Mr. Sbenois as an upstanding, resolute, involved, local humanitarian and leading industrialist. Please ignore Soda's rather whimsical but fruitless attempt to discredit a scion of our community. Just last week at Yankee Stadium I was enthralled to have him as my guest in the Big Box. He even paid for the popcorn (with butter). Costanza, You, my friend, are a lucky man. When you arrive, please drop me a line so we can get together and play snooker. |

Dear Soda, I am amazed at the lengths you will go to to discredit my many business lines. Posting fabricated privateline messages will get you nowhere. Mr. Costanza, as I mentioned to you, there are many posters here who should not be believed. Soda has been on that list for a long time. |

Hi Dave We figured out the activation process, so I am finally on the board. I want to see what the message board is all about and why my husband Ed spends so much time there. I met you Dave and some other Message Board people at the face-to-face events. What I do is called Trunk Tours, where I take a reminiscing program to assisted living facilities which is good for dementia patients. The website is www.trunktours.com, but I am not a computer guru like most of the people on the message board. I use email but rarely check it. But I like to search out interesting topics on the internet. So now that I am on the message board, what do I do next? Marilyn Maxwell May |

Dear Soda, Have you no decency or shame? How long will you continue to toy with Mr. Costanza? This gentleman does not need you to continue your obsession with mind games. Enough is enough. Mr. Costanza, if you're still reading these boards after yesterday's lack of neighborliness, let me put your mind at ease: Soda has fancied himself (get this) THE ORACLE OF MAPLEWOODONLINE. Need I say more?

Hi Marilyn. Soda, The PrivateLine will be replaced soon by a similar function. When the board software was upgraded new members to MOL stopped having their names listed for a few technical reasons. |

Sbenois is correct: The Oracle of MOL is a pleasant fiction, as is/are (sorry to bell the cat here, folks...) all of Sbenois Industries. Just as Joancrystal has observed. Suburban Legend. Phonybaloney. Fantasy. Of course, the Oracle has yet to do anyone any harm. Can the Virtual Magnate say the same? Dave: If you are privy to the real story on Mr. Costanza (as asserted to me in Sbenois' latest Private Line message to me, which I see no reason to post), now would be a good time to spill the beans. |

To the webmaster, I don't mean to sound rude or anything but is everyone on this web site an escapee from a local mental institution? I cannot believe some of the things that are written here or how mean some of your readers get. I am afraid to allow my wife to read Maplewood OnLine because she will surely refuse to get on the plane with me. I also recall asking you yesterday or the prior day to remove my writings related to my negative comments directed towards Mr. Sbenois. Is there a policy that prohibits this? Are you unable to do it? Dr. Stefano, Mr. Sbenois has my private email address and I would appreciate it if you could send me your phone number and address. Also, is there some type of local listing regarding certified surgeons, dentists, and the like? I imagine that you would be able to point me to it. Thank you all for your kind consideration.
