Just moved to Maplewood last month from Hoboken along with my wife and 16 month old son. I'd just like to say that it's been everything that people to us it would be and more (almost worth the tax-man's bill).

We hope to be here for a long-long time and look forward to meeting you all.

Try posting this on the "Please Help" thread. You will likely get more responses.

Hello, everyone! We're new to Maplewood having moved from Jackson Heights, Queens. We love the town! Please help us find: 1. a big supermarket; 2. a Target or similar; 3. a Home Depot or Lowe's. Thanks a lot!

Welcome.

Supermarket - None of the options are thrilling but we use the Pathmark on Valley St. in South Orange (just down the street from the high school) for most things, Kings in town for a quick few things but its way overpriced.

Home Depot - On Springfield Ave in Union near the ramp to Rt 78.

Target - keep going down springfield past the Depot till you get to Rt 22. Take 22 East and you will see a Target on the right.

Don't forget to stop at Bowcraft Amusement Park on Route 22 on your way to Target!

I prefer the Shoprite in Essex Green to Pathmark. It's larger, cleaner and better priced. There is also a Home Depot on Rte. 10 and they are opeing a Target on 10 as well. Avoid Rt 22 if at all possible. It is not a FUN place to drive.

Welcome E&K!

The Shoprite in Livingston is also a good supermarket to try. If you have a large family or a lot of food storage space, you may also want to try out the Cosco either on rte. 22 or on rte. 10.

One of the really nice things about our area is the variety and convenience of the shopping here.

I agree with Nancy. Rte. 22 is not a driving experience for the faint of heart. Go there at your own risk.

Wanted to say hello. My wife and I moved to South Orange from Raleigh, NC. She is attending Seton Hall Law School, and I am currently an unemployed Computer guy (PC Support/Network Support). I think this is a great forum and has answered several questions I have had about this area already. Any ways, just wanted to introduce myself.

Hi!

I'm Curt Wayne. My wife, Teri, daughter, Elizabeth and I will be moving into the Maplewood/So Orange area this spring. I'm a web designer, Teri's a VP at AIG doing the online thing for them and Elizabeth is a 4th grader.

Thanks for allowing us access to your snazzy forum. We hope to learn about the area and share what we can.

I teach web design at the University of Delaware (continuing education) and will have to give that gig up when we move, so my first question is: Do any of you have any idea where I might find something similar to do in Maplewood or nearby???

Thanks,

Curt
